Nonprofit Overview

Mission: Our mission is to find the perfect family match for our rescues. Before we post our animals for adoption, we spend weeks getting to know their personalities and molding them to become better pets and to make it easier on them to become a part of your family. Before we even show a rescue, we feel we have prepared this animal to confidently adjust to his or her new family. We use five outdoor kennels at first to provide support and protection when rescues still have the insecurity of being around other animals. We teach them socialization at a comfortable pace. Rescues learn to interact with children and adults as well as other animals. At our facility, crate-training is a must! This makes for an easier transition for everyone involved. We work hard to save the lives of these abandoned pets. They can make a difference in your life, because the unconditional love they have for you can not compare with any other emotion. A happy home is a relaxed home!

Laura's Hope Rescue filled a void left in my family when our pointer/husky, Huey died unexpectedly from poisoning shortly after Hurricane Irene in 2011. My children sent me links through petfinder and quite by coincidence I came across Laura's Hope Rescue. I fell in love with the posting of Spots (now Booker T), a German Shorthaired Pointer pup. Although I wasn't planning on adopting so soon after losing Huey, I decided to fill out an application and see where it took me. My experiences with Hope, Krista and Louann were so positive and it was clear how much of their hearts and souls went into the rescue! They describe Booker T and by the end of my phone conversation I felt that this was the pup for us and I drove the 7 plus hours from Vermont to adopt Booker T. One year later, Booker T has stolen our hearts and we couldn't imagine life without him. I am forever grateful for the work Laura's Hope Rescue continues to do for abandoned animals.

The rudest woman who has turned me off of adopting from a shelter. Instead of allowing for explanation of questions, she cut me off and belittled me repeatedly. She insinuated that I was a bad pet owner and how much better she was than I and refused to listen to reason. She and other shelters make it impossible to adopt leading to animals euthanized that would have had a loving home. This is why breeders continue to thrive. Will make sure to tell everyone what a terrible experience we had with this woman. I hope the other staff is kinder for these poor dogs under their care.

We adopted 2 dogs on Oct 4/23.we were lied to about several things.first they are not sisters as we were told.the one big girl was mortified of men (and still is).we were told they were walking with a leash. We had to harness put a leash on and pull the big one to get her in the yard.she didn't even know how to smell the ground.we taught them alot and showed them love but last week they were surrendered back to the shelter.i am an avid animal lover but being lied to has really put a bad taste in me for shelters.it was a rush job cause they were getting 15 more dogs.can't quite trust shelters now.

In 2010 I lost my partner suddenly then 2 months later our dog had to be put to sleep. I was ready for another dog in late summer 2011. As I looked into places to go something just drew me to Laura's Hope Rescue. I was not sure if I wanted a puppy or older dog. When I went to visit I was brought a cute puppy then a shy dog was brought out to meet me. He sat next to me we talked and I knew he was the one for me. I was allowed to take him home that day and he has made my life so much better. Some of my friends have also adopted from Lauras Hope . They are the best.

Laura's Hope rescue was a bright star that came into my life after I had lost my partner of 9 years then our dog Lucas a few months later. Though it took me 1 1/2 years to decide to get another dog. I filled out an application stating I was not sure if I wanted a puppy or a young dog. I went up to the rescue one day and Hope brought out a puppy then went and got a shy dog named Sonnie. Well that ended right there. As I sat on the ground and talked with Sonnie I fell in love. He was the one for me. Took him home that afternoon. Loaded him into the back of my honda CRV and by the time I got to the end of Hopes driveway he was sitting next to me. I did change the spelling ofnhis name to Sonny and he is 7 y.o. and the light of my life.

I got my soul back!!! In May of 2018 I had to put my beloved 17 year old Airedale Terrier to sleep, the hardest duty a responsible pet owner must do. I missed my pal, I had never been without a dog in all my 69 years....I never thought another pup will come into my life until I met my Marlie on Laura’s Hope web site. It was love at first sight. The process was a very smooth one complete with a meet and great...the people at Laura’s Hope are professional and have big hearts when it comes to reforming and or placing pets with owners. They are very thorough in their investigation of the prospective owner giving each pet every opportunity to a good home. My soul is filled again and my life has been made happier by Laura’s Hope

I found the love of my life at Laura's Hope Rescue. Originally we had seen a picture on Petfinder of a small terrier type dog, mostly black with some white patches, that was at Laura's Hope Rescue and the look on the dog's face peaked our interest. This was back in 2011. We filled out an application and shortly thereafter we received a telephone call from Grace of Laura's Hope Rescue. She interviewed us over the phone and during the call, we discovered that the dog we had applied for was actually a puppy. We weren't prepared to take on the training of a puppy at that time so we continued searching for a dog. We had looked at a lot of different dogs online and gone to the local shelter as well but nothing panned out for us. One day, while we were out, we decided to drive down to Laura's Hope Rescue and see what other dogs they might have. As soon as we got out of our car and walked toward their office we saw our dog, then named "Fab" now called Shadow. When I saw him, I realized that I had seen his picture online also and had thought him a good prospect but after looking at other dogs had forgotten about him. Seeing him in the flesh brought the memory of his picture right back. I picked him up and put him in my husband's arms. My husband couldn't stop smiling. He loved him already. Because we already had an approved application on file with them, it was a simple process completing our adoption of our sweet fur baby Shadow. We were told about his stay at the shelter and his foster mom told us a little about his personality. Then we were given a folder with his information, a bag of food for him and a leash and told that if for any reason it didn't work out we had to bring him back to them. That was never even a thought in our minds. As I said in the beginning, I met the love of my life at Laura's Hope Rescue. We have continued to follow them and have referred two friends who also adopted from them. We support them when we can through fundraisers and Amazon Smile. They deserve all the help they can get to continue rescuing these beautiful babies and putting them into loving homes.

I adopted my first dog from Laura's Hope Rescue 3yrs. ago.. He is one of the smartest, best dogs I have ever owned. The rescue saves them from down South & brings them North to us. Laura's Hope Rescue is clean, & set up to take care of these poor cast offs. They are dedicated to finding their forever homes for the dogs.. I ended up adopting another dog from them last June & couldn't be happier..

Extremely disappointed in this rescue. The lady who runs it is more concerned about making a quick buck and finding a fast home , rather than a good one. She’ll give the dog you want to adopt to someone else right from under you like she did to a friend of mine recently.

I began to notice through their online posts that this rescue was very different than others. Laura's Hope Rescue takes the time to get to know their rescues and focuses on getting the right family match for each dog, rather than just trying to get them gone. So we chose to adopt from them in 2014 and again in 2016 and are so happy with their adoption process and care for their canines. They go above and beyond for each dog, especially if one has a special need while in their care! Now our family volunteers for them as well to help them continue their mission!

2.5 years ago the ladies at Laura's Hope Rescue matched us with our perfect first family dog, he was everything we could've imagined and more. He's made s great best friend to his human sister who is 2 days older than him. This past August we adopted from these wonder ladies again! They've helped complete our family twice! We highly recommend them to all our family and friends, they deserve all the praise for the amazing job they do day in and day out.

My Beloved Golden Retriever Briggs passed away at age 15 in October 2014. I had adopted him at 8 months old. I always said I hit the jackpot, he was such a great dog! That fact also made me doubt if i would have a dog again...How could any dog be as great as Briggs? Well, 8 months later scrolling through facebook I see a video on Laura's Hope Rescue, with a Golden Retriever Mix named Wiggles. He was so happy and wiggling his butt around, I had to meet him! I messaged Laura's hope and she immediately told me he was still available. I couldn't believe it. A dog like this would be adopted in a second! I like to think of it as perfect timing! I was ready, he was here, and it was meant to be. I went to meet him and fell in love. I could not imagine how this dog was a stray! Fast Forward 7 months later, his name is Indie, and we couldn't be happier! Everyone who meets him loves him and comments about his wiggly butt and how he is the sweetest! Yes, I hit the jackpot again!

Hope Benson of Laura's hope rescue puts her heart and soul into helping her dogs find good and loving homes. She knew which dog had chosen me on my visit there 6 years ago. I went to look at a black lab named Charlie and came home with a sweet pittie named Gracie who turn out to be "the perfect dog" and still is to this day. Hope works with her dogs to socialize them and expose them to different things so that they are ready for their new homes and tries very hard to make sure that each dog is a good match for the person or family who is a adopting. She promotes her dogs at live adoption events as well as on social media. She has saved so many lives and made many lives better because of her hard work and dedacation, and Gracie and I thank her so much for doing so!

I was looking on the PETFINDER website and came across Laura's hope rescue, there was a dog that sounded and looked like the perfect match. I called hope and talked to her for about 30 minutes on the phone, she told me a lot about her rescue and the work she does, I was unfamiliar with rescues and had never dealt with one before. I filled out the application and went to Laura's hope rescue...I was greeted by 15 happy and energetic dogs of all shapes and sizes!! I knew right away that this person was doing something right and for all the right reasons. Every dog there was happy and well cared for, Hope knew each dog and their personalities, she didn't care that her yard wasn't the perfectly groomed lawn , she cares about her dogs that are in her care and tries very hard to find them good loving homes. The dog I went to look at did not turn out to be the dog for me...but a sweet a loving little pit bull named Gracie did turn out to be the dog for me, a dog I never would have even considered when looking online. Hope had rescued her from a high kill shelter in Louisiana and her time was up. I was looking for a dog that needed me as much as I needed it...I found that special dog thanks to Hope Benson and Laura's Hope Rescue and I am so thankful for her and for all of the work that she does.

My dad adopted Yori when she was 5 months old from Laura's Hope Rescue, she is now 2 years old and the best dog he has ever owned. He fell in love with her photo and before we knew it she was on her way up from West Virginia.

He takes her every where with him and everyone she meets absolutely adores her. She is very well behaved and the perfect addition to our family, we couldn't thank Laura's Hope enough for finding her!

Hi, I have adopted 3 fur babies from Laura’s Hope rescue in Pa . The first was a Pom from a puppy mill situation. She was 13 years old. She needed a home! She was such a sweet little girl. She was only with us a short while before she passed, but what a wonderful few years we had! She’s been gone a year and I still miss her!
We also adopted an older retriever mix. She’s still with us. She is such a sweet heart. We love her to the moon and back. She’s been here a while. She was somewhere around 11 when we got her ! She is a mello girl! Just happy to be with us. She still bounces around with our third rescue we got last year and tries to play now and then. She has sort of adopted our third rescue from Laura’s Hope Rescue.
Our # 3 fellow is a Corgi-Doxie mix! He is around 3-4 years old. He is so much fun! We love him ! As long as he has a ball or two he is happy. Life is good!

We adopted a black lab mix named Cole, now known as Jaxx from Lauras hope, and I have to say she was the best to work with, I had filled out apps on other rescues but talking to her on the phone then finally meeting her was the best I had experienced. I felt good when I entered her office and knew I would have a great experience. I would recommend this rescue time and time again.

We adopted our "Lady" from Laura's Hope almost 3 years ago and she is the love of our lives. Laura's Hope rescues a lot of dogs from high kill shelters and our Lady was one of them. This rescue is run by a woman with a heart bigger than any other, she opened her home to these dogs to start her rescue and works tirelessly to save as many as possible. With the work of Hope and her fabulous foster families, Lady came to us crate trained, house trained and with beautiful manners.

We adopted our sweet guy, Arley, from Laura's Hope Rescue in June of 2013. Hope rescued him from a high kill shelter in NC. Arley has been a wonderful dog + is trusting now + well over his prior issues from the abuse he had while a puppy in NC. Hope gave him a chance + matched him with us! She has a doggie paradise in a country setting, + she is a dog whisperer who takes in the furries others would leave behind! Hope + her fellow angels need + deserve all of the help we can give them. To anyone reading this, Laura's Hope is a true example of rescuing shattered lives. Hope and her group give these fur babies a new life. They live and care for them while they are with them and continue to follow their progress in their new homes. We have one such baby (all 65 lbs of him) who has brightened our world.

Without Hope doing what she does these babies would have no lives.

We first came to Laura's Hope after our dear Skippy passed after 16 wonderful years of love and hikes in the woods. Skippy was a rescue dog so we knew we wanted to rescue another and after trying to heal our hearts we decided to start looking. We first saw 'scrappy' (aka Henry) on petfinder and knew we needed to meet him. I can still remember when we arrived and Hope handed him over to us. It was love at first sight. The adoption process was wonderful and on the drive home he curled up on my lap and went to sleep as if saying, "I knew you would come for me". Henry adjusted fast to our routine but we felt that he needed a friend, so within 5 months we were again back at Laura's Hope adopting 'Dana' (aka Piper), a very tiny puppy who had been dubbed their 'office manager'. I can truthfully say she has been trying to 'manage' our house ever since. I truly believe that the saying 'who saved who' is totally accurate. Thanks Laura's Hope for all you do. A great organization to work with, and a great organization to support.

I found Hope on Facebook. I was looking to adopt a boxer puppy. When I saw she has some puppies coming in I fell in love. She was a sweet baby girl named Daisy. After emails and an application I was approved to adopt Daisy. Well Daisy is now Arizona and she is almost 5 months old. Hope made the adoption experience so loving and meaningful that I refuse to ever buy a dog again and will only adopt from her. Ari is the best thing we ever did and has made out life compleat.

I met Hope at the 2011 Picnic in the Park. Hit it off well from introductions. From that point on, I got to not only get to know Hope, and volunteer at the rescue, I made a lifelong friendship that I could not put a price on. My kids even volunteer, by playing with the dogs, (which teaches socialization with kids) they also help with the social media for Laura's Hope Rescue. As well as organizing Romy's Place. Hope finds dogs on death row, brings them to her place, and finds homes for them. In the year and a half I have known her, I know over 250 dogs have new homes. She has great instinct, and has a no hide policy I find amazing. She will show you every donation she has received, and where It goes. On top of that she offers a FREE clothing closet to anyone in need of clothes. Without question. I was a part of helping make 2012's Bark in the Park, which was organized by Hope and an incredible team. It was a huge success, and will grow bigger each year. She is currently raising money to build a new building. On her own property, which will be 100 percent GREEN. It is because of Hope's ethics, heart, and no B.S. attitude that my family and I will continue to volunteer at Laura's Hope Rescue.
