Mission: To promote and advance the role of latinos in the future growth of corporate america by establishing cooperative partnerships.
Programs: During 2014 the latino institute for corporate inclusion logged some major milestones. Having completed almost two years of research, writing and editing, we published a major study into the impediments encountered by latinos and african americans in california who are pursuing careers in the information communications technology sector. It is the first study of its type in california that addresses these challenges from a diversity point of view. The study was officially published at a major news conference hosted by the l. A. Area chamber of commerce and announced by the california superintendent of public instruction who gave the lici kudos for its signal achievement. Portions of the study were also presented at venues throughout california and in other states around the country. Estimated minimum number of persons impacted: in california: 26,500; nationally: unknown. The lici also conducted its first professional development training seminar in minneapolis, minnesota for members of the society of hispanic professional engineers (shpe) at its annual executive leadership institute hosted at the corporate headquarters of medtronic corporation. Though attendance was limited to 25 persons at this initial seminar it is anticipated that this will become an annual event that will include a growing number of participants annually and will likely double in 2015.
