Mission: To empower, educate, & advocate for victims/survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in our community, so that they may build futures free from violence. Each community is unique and has different barriers. (see schedule o). Our staff are knowledgeable on the barriers that latino survivors face including legal status, lanugage, and lack of resources. The staff work along side the survivor to educate them on the various legal systems and empower them to make their own decisions about their healing process using a client centered and trauma informed approach.
Programs: Domestic abuse and sexual assault programs - these programs provide advocacy, community education, training and other services to survivors of domestic abuse. These programs also provide counseling and advocacy services to survivors of sexual assault, as well as community education and awareness, and training to medical and legal professionals. The programs are funded through the iowa department of justice, crime victim assistance division.
culturally and linguistically specific services program - creates unique opportunities for targeted community-based organizations to address the critical needs of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking victims for identified underserved populations. This program is funded directly by the u. S. Department of justice, office on violence against women.
sexual violence prevention - program provides sexual violence primary prevention services. Funding for this program is provided by the iowa department of public health through the iowa coalition against sexual assault.
