Causes: Domestic Violence, Family Violence Shelters, Homeless & Housing

Mission: The organization's mission is to end domestic violence, sexual assault, and child and elderly abuse. The most significant activities include domestic violence counseling and intervention, child abuse treatment, and sexual assault rape crisis counseling.

Programs: Domestic violence counseling and intervention - provided a confidential safehouse that offers safety, comprehensive advocacy, and support services for up to 24 women and children. This program emphasizes independent living skills and independent counseling, support groups, and vocational/educational referrals to reverse the isolation caused by domestic violence. This program utilizes family-based interventions, working with women and their children together as a family unit to strengthen families in crisis and break the intergenerational cycle of violence. We have provided every family that has lived at our emergency shelter with basic necessities such as food, clothing, household supplies and toiletries. In addition to advocacy, support and basic needs, we have provided clients with regular care self-care and life-skills programming.

child abuse treatment program (chat) - chat has helped children who have been victims of traumatic events and cannot get services, due to lack of insurance, transportation, or are unable to find a therapist, acquire the services they need.

sexual assault rape crises counseling - this program has provided lassen county with its only crisis center that provides services for survivors of sexual assault. This program has provided a counseling service including a 24-hour crisis line for immediate, confidential phone counseling; individual, family, couple, and group counseling for survivors of adult or childhood sexual assault; and phone and in-person counseling. Additionally, this program has provided advocacy services consisting of 24-hour hospital accompaniment by trained counselors, liaison services for survivors throughout the judicial process, and a referral program for sexual assault survivors. Educational services consist of literature, a certified training course in sexual assault and domestic violence crisis intervention, and community training and education.
