I was a single mom with no work experience when I started volunteering here in 2016. With in less than two years I was leading field trip program, helping in animal husbandry, working admissions and gift shop, and helping facilitate birthday parties. They were willing to give me a chance and saw the potential I had! Without them I honestly don’t know where I’d be today! Because of them I’ve been able to work at an aquarium and another museum and one day I hope all of this will take me to the Field Museum in Chicago! I’m forever grateful to The Las Vegas Natural History Museum!!
I started volunteering here 3 years ago with my college group. Every single time, the staff had been hospitable to us and making sure that everyone is doing more than good! We are always looking forward to the many events that are being hosted; everyone has such a fun time. There are guests that ask us how to start volunteering because of the amount of excitement and enthusiasm we share. All of my college group agrees that this museum has been one of the best volunteering experiences that you can be involved with in Las Vegas!

I started volunteering at the LVNHM last year; everything about the museum is fantastic! They are very open to letting people volunteer; they want to ensure that every volunteer is taken care of. Also, new additions are always being made to the museum to keep things fresh and exciting. I had the chance to meet the wonderful team that wants to ensure that every visitor has the best time. When we are volunteering, they make sure that the volunteers know that they are appreciated!
I have never worked with a more dedicated and caring group of people in my life. If you enjoy being a part of a community that not only helps to educated the Las Vegas community but also a community that constantly supports each other, I would highly recommend volunteering at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum. In addition as a graduate student of Anthropology, the curation experience I received volunteering in the collections department has been invaluable in furthering my career.

The Museum always has fun and educational events happening throughout the year and there's always something for someone to do, in any capacity that makes them comfortable. Heather, the volunteer coordinator, is very considerate and welcoming to everyone who donates their time to help out. If you need to find somewhere new to volunteer or somewhere to develop skills and experience at, the Museum couldn't be a better recommendation!

I started helping out at the Museum in September of 2021 and was welcomed with nothing but loving, supportive, and helpful hands. Everyone, from the Directors to the front desk staff was and is nothing but the nicest. They offer an inclusive environment where creativity is encouraged, knowledge is always free-flowing, and there's something to do for everyone. As a volunteer, there are so many different things to learn and do. Whether someone wants to work with animals, help out with birthdays, be a tour guide, or run activity tables, there's hardly a dull moment to be had. It's a great experience every time I come in, it's supremely obvious how much they care for their guests, and it's simply the best place to be volunteering in the Las Vegas community.
Working as a Public Relations and Marketing Intern at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum was an enriching experience that exceeded my expectations. From day one, I was immersed in a dynamic environment where creativity and strategy seamlessly blended. The opportunity to contribute to various campaigns and initiatives allowed me to apply my skills in real-time, under the guidance of supportive and knowledgeable mentors. I had the chance to assist in crafting compelling press releases, managing social media platforms with engaging content, and even participating in event planning and execution. These experiences not only bolstered my understanding of PR and marketing but also gave me a profound appreciation for the museum's mission to inspire curiosity and learning. Despite being an intern, I always felt valued and respected, with my ideas welcomed and considered. This inclusive environment fostered both personal and professional growth, allowing me to develop new skills and build lasting connections. I am grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to such a reputable institution and look forward to applying the invaluable lessons learned in my future career endeavors.
I began as a Research Associate at the Natural History Museum in 2017, shortly after I retired from full-time employment as an Anthropology professor at the College of Southern Nevada. As an archaeologist I was interested in finding a project that involved artifact analysis from badly underreported site collections available in the Museum's storage annex. The Museum staff, especially the collections and curations staff, welcomed me with open arms, providing me with a space to work and all the collections that I could get my hands on. The staff has been gracious, welcoming, and helpful as I have pursued my projects in the Museum. I have also taken my grandchildren to the museum several times and they have thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits and the time spent getting educated at the museum. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and look forward to many years of fruitful collaboration with the museum.
Even though it is known for its casinos, Las Vegas is also a city of 2 million residents, including lots of people who want to know more avout the natural world. LVNHM is one of the essential places in LV where kids & adults can satisfy their curiousity. Great displays of ancient animals that lived in this area, and the paleontology lab lets kids see this science in action. I am currently analyzing archaeological collections at the museum's annex, and everuone has been so friendly and accomodating!
I began interning with LVNHM a month ago and in that time I could describe it as nothing short of amazing. The team members have done a great job at creating a very positive work environment and I love being able to learn something new every day I go to work. The exhibits are great (Prehistoric, Egypt, and Marine are my favorites) and I love seeing our guests enjoying them as much as I do. As someone who is doing their best to make a career in museum work, I'm proud that this museum is where I'm getting my start.
I have been a volunteer at the Museum for a little over 3 years and I absolutely love it! I started volunteering after my husband passed and I now consider the staff and volunteers to be my second family. My favorite duty is helping on weekends with birthday parties and watching the kids as they tour the Museum. I also love their excitement when doing "critter connection" where they bring out live animals for the kids to pet. One of my most enjoyable times was a couple of years ago when we had an exhibit of Leonardo DaVinci's inventions; I even won an award for second most hours worked that summer. Bottom line, I will continue volunteering as long as I can.
Working with LVNHM has been nothing short of an amazing and rewarding experience. If you are looking for a place to volunteer or intern, LVNHM is a great option. There's a variety of ways to help, so everyone has a place here. Everyone here is so kind to each other, making it a great place to grow as a professional.
As for the museum itself, LVNHM has many exhibits that time and dedication are put into. Egypt and Marine Life are my personal favorites.
The museum was an option on my nursing schools community service list. I can’t express how thankful I am that I chose to volunteer there! The staff have been amazing to me and I’ve enjoyed spending time helping them while also being able to enjoy the exhibits! I cannot wait to take my two little kids to enjoy the museum and plan on volunteering when I can after my required hours are done.
Awesome museum, and great staff ! My daughter loves coming here so much she started volunteering. Highly recommend checking it out you won’t be disappointed.
My family absolutely loves coming to LVNHM. From the minute we walk in, we are personally greeted and it means the world to me that they know my son by name and always make him feel special. They are a wonderful team of caring, knowledgeable staff. I tell everyone I know who has kids that they definitely need to check out this amazing museum. We have been annual members for two years and plan to be for many years to come! Thank you to all the staff who keep this place going!
This is my favorite place to be! All of the staff and volunteers are incredibly nice and it makes it more fun to work there. The volunteer coordinator is amazing. She makes sure that everyone is appreciated and I give a shoutout to her!
The Las Vegas Natural History museum is a space run by incredible hard working people who strive to make an amazing environment for people of all ages to learn about history and science while remaining fun and entertaining. The programming is consistently creative and exciting, and the space is welcoming to every guest and volunteer that comes through!
In the year that I have been with this museum, they have been nothing but kind and supportive. The learning opportunities and community connection is unmatched anywhere else. The staff really wants to see you have fun and grow — even offering to train you on skills like husbandry after you hit a certain number of hours. I love the museum and everyone here!
Volunteering at this museum changed the course of my life ! I need up working here and it’s the best job ever !!!
Being in this museum and around the wonderful staff inside is an absolute treat. The things that they are doing to involve and teach adult and kids alike is a lost art today, but they are making it happen! There are multiple rooms filled with amazing things to see and an extremely knowledgeable staff that are all kind and hard-working. Volunteering here has been one of the most educational and pleasant experiences I have had and I highly recommend stopping by or getting involved.
There's an age old saying, "you can't really know where you are going, until you know where you've been" and at this museum you get to be apart of where humans and living life has been, where we are now and get a glimpse as to where we may be going. It's truly fascinating and magical!
The volunteers of this museum are the best. Always helpful and always busy keeping the museum looking beautiful. You can tell they enjoy what they do. Great job volunteers!
I used to go there all the time when I was a kid, and the summer before I left for college I volunteered there. Everyone who works there is so kind and knowledgeable. They treat me better as a volunteer than any paying job I've ever had by far. I learned so much, made friends, got practical work experience, and prepared for my future, all in a place that means so much to me. Volunteering there was one of the best experiences of my life, and I wish it was more talked about in the community!
Las Vegas Natural History Museum is the best museum in Clark County. I love this venue because it has diverse exhibits ranging from sea life to Da Vinci to prehumans. This museum makes kids of all ages want to learn and opens up your imagination! I L O V E this place!
I grew up with this museum. I visited the museum all the time and became a volunteer when I was 12 years old. The staff and other volunteers became a second family to me. The museum gave me somewhere fun and safe to go to.
It gave me the opportunity to learn professional skills that I was able to apply to future jobs. Fast forward through the years and over 20 years with an aquarium career made possible by my time with the museum.
Once Covid hit, I stayed home with my kids, along with everyone else in the world. The first place I took my kids to that felt the safest, was the Las Vegas Natural History Museum.
My oldest daughter asked if she could volunteer and without hesitation, I signed her up. Now a new generation of volunteers is there and I couldn't be more proud or happier. Looking forward to what she can do for LVNHM.
This museum is so important to our Las Vegas community! Such an amazing place! Highly recommend for families and museum lovers!
Volunteering at the Las Vegas History Museum is amazing! The staff is great. It feels like one giant family. Everyone is willing to jump in an lend a hand. The support amongst the staff and volunteers is the best! Not only are the people great, but the museum itself is awesome. The Exhibits are educational, exciting and interactive. I would recommend volunteering here to anyone.
I’ve been to this museum several times. The exhibit rooms are designed wonderfully. Very pleasing, informational and educational for both adults and children. There is a lot of hands on activities and buttons for kids to push! There are always people walking around to help you if you have any questions. It’s also nice that they do themed birthday parties there. I’m sure the kids enjoy it! Definitely a place for families to go to together.
This place is my favorite place to be! They have great exhibits filled with amazingly preserved taxidermy animals and interactive activities. They have amazing staff members who keep everything clean and sanitary. You can even book a birthday party where alot is provided by the amazing volunteer coordinator. I definitely recommend this nonprofit for a family trip.
I start to volunteering at the museum lab in May on 22 because I wanted to do not only something for the community, but also to have the opportunity to work closely for my anthropology degree. What to say...people are fantastic, friendly and very funny. Work at the museum it's special!! You won't regret!!! Plenty of volunteer opportunities for every kind of job you want to do...hours as you want and a lot of opportunities to learn!!!become a museum volunteer it's like have a second family!!!!♥️♥️♥️
I began volunteering at LVNHM in October 2021 and I still get excited each and every time I come in. It’s a great place to engage and make connections in the community. The staff and people here are welcoming and lovely to know. Some volunteer duties consist of regularly cleaning and sanitizing in each room, speaking to guests in exhibits, doing activities related to exhibits, assisting with birthday parties, tour guides, etc. Specimen tables and activities are my favorite, I am constantly learning while also teaching young guests. You do not need any knowledge on history or any of the specimens, although doing your own research wouldn’t hurt. The best thing about these tables is seeing the guest’s face light up when they notice how big a Megladon tooth is for the first time or even the face of “that’s cool, but yuck!” when you tell them that rock they’re holding is actually coprolite. I’ve volunteered at a few places before and this is by far my favorite. The coordinator is super flexible with volunteering schedules and is so awesome. Join the volunteer team here!! You won’t regret it.
This was my first volunteer experience. I started volunteering in the middle of the pandemic. As a volunteer, I went around regularly during my shifts to clean and sanitize the museum to make sure the guests and ourselves were safe and healthy.
I volunteered mainly on weekends and helped with weekend activities as well as cleaned. Seeing families come in and seeing the smiles and awe in the faces of children adults alike was very rewarding! It was fun to learn something new, myself, and to share this knowledge to others during the activities.
I helped with birthday parties, checking in party guests and showing them to the birthday room.
I helped with some social media stats at the end of each month as well!
Naturally as I volunteered, I got to know the museum staff and everyone is very welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful! I really loved that about volunteering!
When I started volunteering at the end of 2020, there was not as much of a variety of volunteer duties as now. Now, as a volunteer and the world feeling like normal again, volunteers can do much more! Tour guides, help assist with birthday parties, storytime, help with weekend activities, such as fossil tables and DIY slime; holiday themed crafts such as parachuting Santa and building a snowman with things one can find in their own home! Crafts as they are, some are also educational!
I began volunteering as I studied Anthropology. One does not need to have any knowledge of history, anthropology, geology, paleontology, and so on to volunteer. I felt even more welcome and learned a lot from others in other disciplines!
I greatly enjoyed my time volunteering!

Thank you for being a part of the Museum family and for everything you do for us. Volunteers like you are what make everything we want to do possible.
