Mission: To cultivate partnerships and resources to increase the availability of quality, fair and affordable housing for low to moderate income residents throughout lancaster county.
Programs: During the fiscal year ending june 30, 2015, the lancaster housing opportunity partnership (lhop) delivered 17 home buyer training courses. Approximately 298 potential first time homebuyers completed the four-session, eight-hour course. Lhop provided closing cost loans averaging $5,273 that enabled 45 low and moderate income families to purchase their first home. The total amount of closing cost loans originated was $237,277. Lhop loans are provided interest free with payment deferred until resale.
the fair housing program consists of fair housing and landlord/tenant education including the administration of the fair housing center and the community homelessness assessment & referral team.
during fiscal year ending june 30, 2015 lhop, as part of its affordable housing development initiative began a neighborhood improvement program. The program entails the acquisition, rehab and resale of vacant, blighted properties in neighborhoods in lancaster city and columbia borough.
