Lancaster Farmland Trust has changed our future by preserving a very critical portion of our natural resources. We have been blessed here in Lancaster with abundant crop yields and stunning vistas from the open farm land that surrounds our homes. If not for this effective and well run organization much of the land we depend on to feed ourselves and others would be paved and built upon. The Trust worked well with governmental and other non-governmental organizations to achieve the preservation of 100,000 acres of farmland. This stunning achievement is the first of its kind in the nation. I have watched the Trust over the last 23 years. It has grown from a small farmer-oriented entity educating and guiding land owners towards preservation and conservation to a community leader on issues such as Chesapeake Bay clean-up and natural gas pipelines. They are a lean and effective organization with visionary leadership, flexible enough to respond to the changing threats to farmland and open space while remaining true to their mission.

The main thrust of Lancaster farm land trust is to preserve the fertile land of Lancaster County. No where else in the world is the land so fertile and pure for, growing our crops. Our soil,is irreplaceable. Once it is lost to urban development. Etc, we will all suffer. I am proud to donate to this organization to aid in saving our soil.

Lancaster Farmland Trust is amazingly effective in achieving its mission to preserve prime farmland for future generations, especially among plain sect farm families. The staff is amazing, dedicated and very professional in their specialized work. The Trust also serves as an important example to other nonprofit organizations in the Lancaster community and beyond in the quality of its staff leadership and operational principles.

The Lancaster Farmland Trust is a vital organization for the Plain Sect (Amish and Old Order Mennonite) farmers of Lancaster County. It enables them to preserve their farms in a non-governmental environment and receive assistance with conservation planning, farm transfer guidance to the next generation, and other helpful advice. The Trust is a highly respected organization in the Lancaster County agriculture community. Donald Robinson

This organization works with mainly Old Order Amish farmers to help preserve valuable farmland for future generations in Lancaster County. The organization is one of the best run, most reliable and ethical organizations in which I have been involved. It has taken leadership in the community on important issues and is viewed as a reliable and trustworthy organization.

As a donor, I feel that contributions to the Lancaster Farmland Trust are a permanent investment in preserving some of the best soils in the nation for food production. I see the use of prime farmland for shopping, commercial, and housing development that could easily go in other spaces. I also see the impact that farmland preservation has had on the farming heritage and viability of agriculture in Lancaster County, a county known for a unique mix of cultures. The farmland preservation issue became so important to me that now I am also a member of the Board of Trustees. I have learned that the staff is one of the most professional groups of people I know, that expenses are kept low so that as much money as possible goes toward presevation and stewardship, and that private contributions are doubled or tripled with matches from foundation and government grants. The Lancaster Farmland Trust has also been able to obtain the agricultural easements that preserve the land at extremely low per acre costs, further multiplying the impact of monies contributed. This organization has a huge impact on our and our children's future for food, agriculture, and open space.

As a resident of Lancaster County who appreciates the open farmland the work of the Lancaster Farmland Trust is critical. With the pressure from development, the preservation of farms is essential. Agriculture in Lancaster County is more than just business; it is a special way of life. The Trust leads the way in preservation and plays a critical role in keeping Lanc. Co. so special.

The Lancaster Farmland Trust is the perfect organization to consider on Earth Day! Comitted to preserving farmland, the Trust supports the largest positive influence on Earth which is modern agriculture. By preserving farmland and productive agricultural businesses, and enabling them to produce food for a growing population, the LFT is making a huge difference environmentally, economically and socially. LFT is a first class organization both in carrying out their mission of farmland preservation, and in running an efficient organization that is very socailly conscious. Great employees and volunteers doing an outstanding job. Community involvement and support are hallmarks of this organization - preserving farms with private dollars and great public support. Making a huge difference one farm (and family) at a time.
