Mission: Lakewood community services center, inc. Provides basic needs assistance, personalized resources and referral services with the goal to empower each individual to move toward greater self sufficiency.
Programs: Lcsc is the point of access for lakewood residents who qualify for the city's emergency shelter grant (esg) funds for one-time rent and/or utility assistance to prevent homelessness or who are currently homeless and secure permanent housing within 30 days. Many households who have experienced a crisis due to an unexpected loss of income or medical expense can often remain stabily housed with one-time assistance. Lcsc's licensed social workers will meet with lakewood residents seeking help on a walk-in basis. Lcsc has a breathing room which offers short-term temporary shelter to lakewood families who have become literally homeless and helps these families remain in lakewood when they leave the shelter. A fully furnished two-bedroom apartment is available at no charge for a maximum of 30 days.
lscs is one of 35 hunger network of greater cleveland partners and is the designated hunger center serving residents of lakewood, rocky river, and westlake who meet the income guidelines. Lcsc provides a four-day supply of food once every 30 days to individuals and families who come in for assistance. Each four-day supply comprises basic items including pasta, sauce, rice cereal, milk, soup, stew, peanut butter, jelly, canned fruit and vegetables, mac and cheese and tuna. Every effort is made to also provide additional items such as fresh produce, bread, and extra protein. Personal care items including toilet paper, shampoo, toothpaste and soap are often available thanks to the generous donations from local organizations, churches and individuals.
lcsc is the point of access for lakewood residents to receive city of lakewood community development block grant-funded case management services with the goal of increasing personal and household stability. Lcsc social workers assist low/moderate income residents to make connections within the community to assist with housing searches, landlord negotiations, securing social security or veteran benefits, making referrals for mental health and/or substance abuse counseling, referrals to the city of lakewood division of youth, etc. This client/case manager relationship is critical to ongoing success and stability. Lcsc also operates a networks job resource program which includes a social worker's assessment of employment for the candidate as well as direct program oversight by the executive director.
I had a appointment at this place for pipp with Julie B and during my appointment she was so unorganized and all over the place helping clients on the phone and was very rude to them and myself she snatched my papers out my hand and kept getting upset that she misplaced my papers then she had me write a letter stating how my rent gets paid and I told her I was only getting help for that month and she said no write this person is paying your rent month to month which I had no income in the first place and my foodstamp paper showed that and she based my income on how my rent got paid for that 1 month and I had to go to another office to get this corrected and after I told her I cant pay the pipp amount she gave me she told me not my problem I will not refer this place to anyone she gave me the run around but by the grace of god another office cared
