Before I stepped through the threshold of Lake Washington Girls Middle School, I was scared out my mind. I had tons of questions in my head and twice as many butterflies in my stomach. What are my teachers going to be like? How am I going to make a good first impressions? Who are these strangers who will soon be my friends? Am I even going to like it here? But after I walked through the threshold, all of those questions evaporated. Not only was I rid of my fears, but I was greeted by warm, cheery smiling faces. I knew from that first second that I had found my happy place, and luckily, I would get to spend five days of the week there. I think that giving money is not the only way to support a loving community. I contribute by returning what LWGMS has given me. Love, kindness, support and most importantly, a home. I think that I really lucked out on the middle school lottery, and I have a sneaky suspicion that the other 107 girls at LWGMS could say the same. I donate happiness and joy in the hallways and spirit and responsibility in the classroom. I think that the entire world needs a little bit more of that and I have so much to give. Donating is more than giving extra hours or a few hundred dollars, it is the joy that you get from giving and the joy of the person receiving. My fellow students and I give a lot more than money, we give love. That is my #GivingStory. What is yours?
