Mission: We respond to requests for help from shelters by placing the Lab in need into foster care. While in foster care, the dog receives whatever medical care it needs. This most often consists of spaying or neutering, updating on vaccinations, testing for heartworm and de-worming. Because all of our dogs are in foster care, this allows the dog to maintain, or regain, its confidence as a household pet. We also assist private owners seeking new homes for Labs in their care, by listing their dog. We work to educate the public about the Labrador Retriever breed. All of the Labs we list have been temperament tested. We do not represent Labs with a history of bites, people aggression or serious dog aggression.
Results: Placement of nearly a thousand dogs in over 20 years, since 1995. In 2016, 75 Labs/Lab mixes were placed by LELRR. LELRR is a Petco Foundation Partner and a GuideStar member-Gold Level
Target demographics: Labs and Lab mixes in need who are in pounds or need to be re-homed.
Direct beneficiaries per year: We help find homes for 75 or more Labs and Lab mixes a year, attend over a dozen community events to raise awareness of this breed and it's need for rescue, and conduct over 50 Meet and Greets at area pet stores to support our mission to educate.
Geographic areas served: We are an independent, 501c3 organization made up of a group of volunteers who are dedicated to the rescue and re-homing of homeless Labrador Retrievers in NE Ohio.
Programs: Adoption events, monthly meet and greets, attendance at community events, new owner support, integration support for adopters, assistance for owners needing to re-home, quarterly newsletters, active social media and fundraising to meet the needs of the homeless Labs (and mixes.)
