I’m honored to serve as a board member for La Plaza given their incredibly important work providing programs and services in the area of education for Latin@/x youth and access to health and social services to Latino families in Central Indiana. During Covid, in addition to their core programming, La Plaza has served as a front-line organization serving some of the most vulnerable members of our communities with necessities like food, rental, and utility assistance, weekly virtual tutoring sessions to support high school students, interactive live informational sessions for the community at large, as well as supporting vaccination efforts of Central Indiana’s Latino population. I commend La Plaza’s dedicated staff and its focus on the mission of strengthening Central Indiana by advocating and preparing Latin@/x students for educational success and by connecting Latino families to health and social services, while also celebrating and enhancing Latino/x culture in Indiana.
As the oldest non-profit in Indianapolis serving the Latino community, La Plaza strengthens Central Indiana by advocating and preparing Latino students for educational success and by connecting Latino families to health and social services. The staff goes over and above in fulfilling this mission. COVID brought a whole new level of need to the local Latino population and LaPlaza demonstrated the capacity to reach and serve a record number of individuals and families. I'd give them 10 stars if it were an option!
