Causes: Health, Public Health
Mission: Improving the health and well-being of the hispanic community through its engagement within public health programs, healthcare providers and agencies.
Programs: We partnered with the american heart association on a project to help improve the health in the hispanic community in the richmond area. We conducted blood pressure screenings for 418 people who participated in this project. Based on our findings only 30% of the participants had a normal blood pressure. 107 participants were referred for medical appointments. We also implemented 5 fitness classes and 5 cooking demonstration classes for the participants to help them promote their health.
the company launched a marketing campaign to promote awareness about the high risk of chronic deseases in the hispanic community. We targeted high obesity - dense areas in the crater health district. We designed posters, banners, videos to promote healthy eating as well as a spmartphoe app.
the company participated in an equity and health fellowship in partnership with the richmond memorial health foundation to help narrow the inequality gap in respect to access to healthcare. A total of 18 fellows took part in the initiative. We put in place an agenda and different strategies to address the social, economic and structural conditions contributing to poor health outcomes as a result of lack of availability of health resources to the hispanic community.
