Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Health, Health Care, Human Services

Mission: “Kwe’k” means “women” in the Potawatomi language. We are The Women’s Society. Here’s what we are all about. The Kwek Society provides first-period kits and educational materials, pads, tampons, and underwear to Native American girls and young women without ready access to these expensive menstrual supplies. We are guided by the needs of the individual student communities we support. We support and trumpet the successes of Native American girls and women and fulfill their other material needs as our funds and time allow. And we work to raise awareness to the inequities experienced by those we help.

Target demographics: Native American students

Direct beneficiaries per year: 8 schools, distributing close to 5000 pads and tampons and 68 period kits; we got started in Q4 2018 and as of March 2019 support 21 schools

Geographic areas served: Predominantly rural part of the United States

Programs: Shipments of menstrual supplies, first-period education materials and first-moon/first-period kits to ensure students maintain their dignity and stay in school when they have their periods
