We took an injured Herron (It was hit by a car - Broken Leg) to the Sanctuary during the week at approximately 3:30pm. There was no-one around and the place was closed.
We phoned the helpline and were told to put the Herron in a cage at the front (good size cage..more of an enclosure) until they can come and see the bird.
Long Story short, no-one went to check on that bird until after 9:30am the next day (18 Hours later) and we were told the bird had died over night.
As an animal lover I'm really not happy with that as that bird was full of life when we left it and could possibly have been saved if it got the care it needed and not left to die.
I will think twice before using this place again in the future.
Really disappointed.

This organization has been life changing for me, I have been a regular volunteer for going on 4 years now, I volunteer 2-3 days a week currently. I started out cleaning cages and learning the specific diets of local wildlife, I am now involved in medical work including physical exams, fluid injections, performing and observing surgeries, performing necropsies on various species, doing x-rays at a veterinary clinic, bandaging wounds, etc etc...The one on one hands on experience is really invaluable. I've gained experience with lots of wild animals that people rarely even see up close, including different species of owls, hawks, songbirds, mammals and reptiles! The volunteer work at this organization is very rewarding, the nurturing and releasing of animals back into the wild is nothing short of AMAZING. I cant say enough about Kritter Inc.

From a shy, awkward kid her volunteer time has truly transpired her into a determined, self-motivating take charge individual. She has grown tremendously through her volunteer time with Kritter, Inc. We depend on her more and more everyday and I am so proud of her accomplishments. Just a few hours a week will open your eyes to a world very few people can share - come out and join us today - as for the cold water, well, more fundraising events might just deliver a hot water tank - keep the donations coming - we are reaching out on-line for a larger impact to the work we do for saving wildlife -

I'm a regular volunteer with Kritter, Inc and have immensley enjoyed my experiences at the sanctuary. We've been able to work with a variety of native animals, and have a successful release rate. I was able to release a screech owl that had recovered from an eye injury, and I was hooked! Being able to release an animal that was previously so badly hurt is incredibly rewarding. Kritter, Inc does a wonderful service for Bay County and I plan to continue participating with such a needed center.

My name is Kerry Gunn and I am the Lake Sands District Boy Scout Roundtable Commissioner servicing Bay Co FL and surrounding counties. Every month I put on a program for all adult Scout leaders and in Dec 2009 the program featured Kritter, Inc. Here is the note I input into my monthly after-roundtable newsletter:
SPECIAL Thanks to LISA MABRY and KIM EVANS of KRITTER, INC WILDLIFE SANCTUARY for their slide show, clips, and presentation featuring ‘BOON”, the Barred Owl. Some takeaways include:
- they are a 501(c)(3) non-profit company located at Hombre Golf Course
- mailing address is P.O.Box 18166, PCB, FL 32417.
- website is http://www.kritterinc.com/
- they need fish: fresh, frozen, saltwater, freshwater, it doesn’t matter.
- need volunteers to be available on call to bring animals to them when folks from the outskirts of the area call in with rescued critters.
- need financial support; all donations are accepted.
- need mealworms.
- took in about 600 critters this past year.
- big project near term is to build huge Flight Tent for Raptors, 12x12x50, cost $12K.
- if your Unit is interested in volunteering or needs service hours please call Lisa at 819-3354.

I know that they were instrumental in the GULF Oil Spill clean-up helping to save many, many animals.
They have also volunteered to support scouting where Scouts who need service hours and special projects can assist Kritter, Inc with their needs.

Thanks again to Kritter, Inc for supporting Scouting!

I helped take care of the regular animals while the principal caretakers were involved with the oiled birds rescued from the BP oil spill, and I found the sanctuary to be well-organized, clean, and compassionale. Having someone who will take on this demanding role is a tremendous benefit to the people and the animals of a community.

When I found my snake under the dryer after three days of being loose I was devestaed and had no money for a vet. The snake was a wild caught western hognose I was keeping as a pet and had for almost a year. I took him to Florida Wildlife who then put me in contact with Kritter, Inc. She was very helpful, learned my snake must have found a rat nest in my dryer and while eating the baby rats ingested some dryer lent. She was able to remove some of the dryer lent and gave him some fluids. She was also able to save me money on mice every month for my other snakes by giving me the number of a local breeder.

As a volunteer I see first hand the time, dedication and passion our Director Lisa Mabry pours into this nonprofit sanctuary. She performs the necessary tasks and treatments with a calm, deliberate and organized demeanor. She is incredibly organized, as observed when viewing the grounds or when referring to administrative duties performed.

I am extremely proud to be associated with Kritter, Inc., in Panama
City Beach, Florida. The people in this organization are passionate
about caring for wildlife and are making a difference in our area. In
addition to caring for animals, they also educate the public about
the needs of wildlife.

I would like to write for Kritter, Inc. Wildlife Sanctuary and offer my story. I found a bird on our campus that wouldn't fly. It was a baby and I didn't want to see a cat get the little thing. I contacted Kritter, Inc. and it was no problem for me to bring that baby bird there. They accepted our baby bird with no questions, except where did he come from type questions only so they would know how to treat it. I can't tell you how kind the people where to me and to this baby bird. They took him right in and started making sure the bird wasn't dehydrated, hurt, etc. These folks do so much with so little it absolutely makes one wonder how they do it. Yes, they do small fundraisers but the the economy the way it is people can't afford to help as much as they normally would. I would love to recommend this group for a scholarship, or award. I wish I personally could fund them. I think what they do with what they have it amazing. Keep up the great work, the animals that you help are God's animals and I believe he would want us to protect them. I know your area is small Kritter, Inc. so I promise if I win the lottery you'll want no more and neither will the critters we all love so much. And thank you for taking care of the baby bird you helped me save. I had called other places before I found you and they couldn't help so I'm so glad you are there. It's hard to explain to a child why you can't help a wild critter but when my son saw me bring the bird to your place it showed him that we can care for the wildlife in our area.
