I've never seen a facility that ran with such passion, care & consideration for the animals in their care. The owners take animal welfare and safety very seriously and it is reflected in the quality of all their animals. With such a wide variety, they are able to teach children and members of the public in a very unique, custom way - catering to all age groups. Sun-up to sun-down this family of experienced caretakers are working around the clock to provide care to the animals and education to the public. They receive no public funding and are supported entirely by the community which they serve. They are responsible, careful people literally dedicating each day to their mission. I saw their integrity and character operating daily while I was with them as a volunteer for over 2 years. Definitely something worth supporting.
What a wonderful organization! Their compassionate staff beautifully cares for these amazing animals! I'm proud to share my time with these dedicated people. The level of care provided to the animals is top notch!
I found Kowiachobee through a friend and it is an amazing place to volunteer! The animals are very healthy and well taken care of. Grace and John are wonderful people and their passion, caring nature, and intelligence makes this all possible. With the diversity and number of wild creatures they have on site, it is very impressive to watch the level of organization that takes place so that animals and people alike experience the utmost enjoyment. Great educational opportunity for anyone who visits.

Kowiachobee is a very unique facility that focuses on educating the public, ( mainly school children ) about wildlife, conservation, proper care and respect for captive or domestic animals and various other topics. Kowiachobee provides supplementary education for all ages, from preschool to college and even senior continuing education.
A great place to clear up misconceptions, learn the meaning of terms used by the expert and learn where sayings and slang terms originated. Also a great place to learn a bit of history.
Since I have been allowed to view the site I have enjoyed watching a variety of animals grow as well as new enclosures and also how the various administrators of the park do their jobs. It is a comfort to know that this is accomplished in a very caring and stable environment.
Although I live in Illinois I do wish to visit the park at some point and I wanted to thank you for the care and well being the animals are provided.
Sincerely,
Chuck Reardon
I have been volunteering for about a year now and I couldn't think of a better place to spend my time , there are so many amazing animals and different personalitys , I have a great connection with each individual animal and like I said , I can't think of a better place to spend my time
Kowiachobee has a heart! Kowiachobee Animal Preserve is a wholesome preserve that sets out to educate the public about wildlife as well as teach us how to save and preserve our animal kingdom. By being able to see many animals up close and personal that may have only ever been viewed in textbooks, gives you a different sense of connection with the animals. It transforms a picture into real life. We can only hope that places like Kowiachobee Animal Preserve can continue to exist for generations to come. They are the very heart beat that helps to bring awareness to saving our animals.
My boyfriend and I started volunteering at the preserve in early 2011, in that time we were treated like part of the family and we've grown to love each and every one of them. We have been lucky to be a part of such a wonderful place. Among all of the blessings we have recieved there, we have been able to experience helping care for 2 baby panthers, 2 baby lions, and 2 baby tigers!!!! There is always something new there! The tours are educational and guests to the preserve have told us it's so much better than going to a zoo, because of the hands on experience with the animals and the knowledgeable volunteer tour guides who provide a educational experience to the community.
I have been working with this wonderful group of people since 1997. The Kowiachobee Animal Preserve family is caring and compassionate not only to their extensive variety of residents (animals), but also to their volunteers where there is always room for more. Their extensive educational endeavors include but is not limited to on-site, schools, church groups, etc. I have been to other non-profit organizations which care for animals and they do not even begin to compare to this preserve! Kowiachobee is a non-profit organization that is mindful of the care of their animals 24/7 without any hesitation. Their #1 concern is the care and well-being of each and every animal who presents their own loving personality. My life has been so enriched by helping to care for the animals, but also by knowing this group of people whose hearts are as big as the preserve itself.
