Mission: Kiski valley cat & kitten rescue is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty and neglect toward cats by providing shelter to homeless cats as long as it takes until a safe and permanent home of their own is found. When deemed necessary, veterinary treatment, including spaying neutering and distemper and rabies vaccinations are obtained for the cats. Euthanasia is not considered unless a cat is gravely ill and then it is done to prevent or end the cat's suffering.
Programs: Kvckr transported 75 female cats and 76 male cats in 2017 to clinics for spay/neutering, rabies and distemper vaccinations, and leukemia and fiv testing. If fleas, worms, or ear mites were noted, the cats received treatment. This number includes shelter kittens spayed/neutered prior to adoption, and community cats sterilized at low cost at no cost for the low income comunity.
kvckr sheltered in excess of 200 cats at any given time in 2017. The cats were given veterinary care, fresh water daily and were fed both dry and canned food. They were provided with pleasant living conditions, including heated buildings, air conditioning, and outdoor enclosed pateos. Our "feral" cats and our leukemic cats who were otherwise healthy were not euthanized, but were provided with the same care as the more adoptable of our population. The cats at kvckr are allowed to live out their lives at the shelter if adoptive homes are not found for them.
215 kvckr cats and kittens were placed in loving adoptive homes in 2017.
kvckr donated or provided at cost flea, worm, and ear mite treatments for community cats. Kvckr helped local communities get their cat populations under control by absorbing the cost of the spay/neutering as funds are available. Both dry and canned cat food is donated to persons feeding outdoor colonies of cats as excess food becomes available to the shelter.
