This therapy has been great for my grand daughter, Mrs Kassie puts her heart and soul into giving all her experience and patience to help these kids out. Thank you Mrs Kassie from the bottom of our hearts, you are AWESOME
I've been taking my daughter to Healing Hooves for riding lessons for about a year now. Kassie and Lindsey are both wonderful with her. It's also wonderful that they offer a very well rounded program. My daughter is held accountable for the things that she learns. She must put safety rules into practice and use the correct terms for the parts of the horse as well as the parts of the saddle during her lessons.
I was a normal child of the 60s came from a good family wth lots of love and respect. Then came the war and holly he'll broke loss. I had three encounters with the enemy, one that I would relive EVERY night for 48 years. I moved a lot, had lots of jobs and no friends at all. Had a hard time finding love for anyone or any thing, that is hard to do with a wife and two kid, my life was full of flashbacks, night where the worst things, i tride alcohol to self medicat, which worked for few years. Here I am at age 54 and my world fell apart, the flash back got worst and started having them anytime of the day or night , my world became every small for i never know when i would be standing in the mild of a fire fight.poeple wanted to stay clear of you because they thought you where crazy. At 54 I stopped drinking and went to be for help . That worked for a time, but here comes the flashback worst then every. I avoided contact with all people, shopped at night , stayed in all day , would stay up for days and not answer my door. It was a small town everyone call me the crazy one . Could not talk to anyone about what was Going through my mind not even va a for they can't be trusted either, no one can find out what went on in my mind ,I had a dog for a long time that I found I could love, very first love sense the war. L move to Arizona after my dog died. Found a women with the biggest heart ever, but still couldn't tell her everything, then out of the clear blue here comes healing hooves. I have fouls a real friend in a horse. Would you every think that a horse could ever have more love than a humanbeing, before I found healing hooves on October 17 at 4:30 in the after noon, I couldn't take anymore or hold any more in , so i took a 9 mm gun and put it to the bottom of my chin and looked up and asked God to forgive me ,the bullet came out the bridge of my nose doing very little damage, my nightmare have almost gone away, and I found a horse I can tell everything to and will not judge me, from the crazy one to a person that talks to horse's for healing, that has given me a life back
Our boys have had a great experience learning horsemanship at Healing Hooves. Not learning to ride but how to be a horseman. Safety is the number one rule and is constantly reinforced by the staff. Yet all lessons are taught in a friendly upbeat manner that is great for the kids. The location is spotless, they take great care at keeping the animals clean and comfortable. Al the horses are extremely well trained and the staff takes great care on placing the right kid with the right horse. The comfort animals keep the parents entertained while the kids take their lessons. I highly recommend Kingman's Healing Hooves for classes and horse training.
Kassie and her Healing Hooves facility is such a great asset to our community. We are so incredibly lucky to have her here. There are very little services available to people who need help with the type of services she provides. Whether a mental health need or a physical health condition, Kassie, Lindsay, and their herd of lovely animals are there to help. Both of my children are in her riding program. My son who has autism asks to go to horse riding all the time. We travel an hour to get there, but it is totally worth it.
I have an 11yr old son, (Aj) with autism. He loves learning to ride and care for horses at Kingman's Healing Hooves. This type of therapy helps him with focus & balance and has become a very important part of his life. Everybody at Kingman's Healing Hooves are professional, wonderful and knowledgable. I recommend them all the time and will continue to do so.
My 6 year old with severe non-verbal autism has been taking lessons here for a couple months now. The has been a noticeable difference in his behavior and vocabulary. It's the most meaningful thing for us to finally be able to get a glimpse of what goes on in his head. I feel I understand him better as a person, and I'm finally able to discern his disability from his personality. He doesn't take to many people, but he LOVES his time here. Seeing him smile used to be a rare gift, and now I see it all the time.
When my family first began this journey it was because our daughter wanted a horse. We thought she'd better learn how to ride first and better yet how to take care of one. We reached out to Cassie at Kingman's Healing Hooves and we were blown away. Our daughter went into that school believing that she knew all there was to know. We were all wrong! Cassie and Lyndsey are incredible people. I was apprehensive about letting my daughter get on the back of a horse because I know how dangerous it can be if you don't know what you're doing. When I saw how much attention to detail Cassie paid and how careful they are, it really opened my eyes. I mean from having a helmet on at all times, to being careful how you walk around the horses, to breaking it all the way down to how horses think and how their brains work. After every lesson my daughter is also sent home with homework. Part of her assignment each time is writing what she learned in that lesson, something she's grateful for, and something that makes her proud. I can't get enough of their thoughtfulness. There's so much education that's taught and this is even before you get on the horse! So much thought and care go into both the horses and students. I could tell right away that there was a lot of care that went into the animal's well being there based off their temperament. The thing that melted my heart the most was seeing Lyndsey interact with her horse. Lyndsey, the daughter has a rare disease that causes some pretty terrible things to go array in her body. I watched her limp up to her horse, and the horse gently laid down (which is incredible) so that she was able to get on his back. She completed an amazing obstacle course, which said to me that there was a great deal of trust between her and her horse. After that, we were sold. Then it just kept getting better from there. I have watched children with disabilities, tiny toddlers, veterans with PTSD, and people from all walks of life come to this facility for help. They are truly good people and they pour so much into the care of their animals. Always going out of their way to help others and to do things the right way. I truly appreciate how they never try to cut corners. Good, honest people who go over and beyond every time. Her husband busy working every time as well... Fixing things, caring for the animals, keeping up the property. I watch Lyndsey in so much pain get up everyday and keep pushing no matter how she feels. I have watched this young lady walk on the side of her ankle an entire lesson (I included a picture)! She is so incredibly resilient and she is such an inspiration to our family. And she does it all without complaining. My daughter loves going to her lessons, and she is excelling quite well, and I owe this to them. Her dream of owing her own horse may soon be a reality, and I had no idea how I was going to get this done, but they have definitely helped us in getting there. What else can I say about this place? You'd have to see for yourself... All I know is that this is what Kingman needs. A positive atmosphere where no matter your age, race, sex, disability, or ability you can come here and gain something with every visit.
Our motorcycling group had the privilege of going down to Healing Hooves in Kingman, AZ last weekend. We spent time with Kassie and her daughter Lindsey, to see a little of what they do in helping the disabled and those with PTSD. We were blessed to be able to personally watch Kassie work with a young disabled boy with one of their trained horses. The child had responsibilities that were expected of him in order for him to participate. He was required to brush the horse and assist in saddling the horse up before he could ride. I immediately noticed the difference in the behavior of the child as soon as he got on the horse. His entire demeanor changed. The experience was very uplifting and certainly had a calming effect on the participant. What a difference this organization makes in the lives of so many people. Thank you, Kassie & Lindsey!
For several years our women's motorcycling group has participated in rides to help raise money for this great non-profit, Kingman's Healing Hooves. Kassie, Lindsey and the rest of her staff/family have always been so generous of their time with us during these events. We've simply enjoyed being around such positive, uplifting and inspired people doing the work of their hearts. The work they do with kids with disabilities is just amazing. Recently, several of us rode our "iron horses" down from Las Vegas to attend a different kind of event. Kassie has teamed with a local psychotherapist to offer an experiential type of therapy using the power of her horses to engage clients in new ways. They offered a demo and allowed our group to engage in the experiential learning exercises with the horses. What a powerful demo! Learning about my own assertiveness, trust, fear and ways of engaging in the very social world of humans and animals was fascinating. I highly recommend a tour or participating in any event you can with Kassie and her team. You will walk away smiling and more fully alive!
Kingman's Healing Hooves is an amazing organization. I have been involved with the organization as a horse owner and as an educator. Kassie Schuerr, founder of Kingman's Healing Hooves follows a method with her horses and the horses she trains that focuses on natural horsemanship. This, in turn, allows Kingman's Healing Hooves to have therapy horses who are amazing.
I also have seen first hand the impact Kingman Healing Hooves horses have had on students in special education programs, when the therapy horses are brought to the local schools and special education students are allowed to pet, brush and sit on these wonderful horses.
The time and funds invested to train, feed and keep these horses is substantial.
Due to family responsibilities, Kingman's Healing Hooves is located in our small town and we are truly blessed to have this outstanding organization available to our community. Kingman, AZ has a poverty level of 30%, about 7% above the state average, so our community does not have a significant amount of income for extras such as therapeutic horse back riding lessons for disabled children and adults.
Kassie Schuerr and her family, give countless hours providing therapeutic horse back riding experiences to the community's disabled. Every year the therapeutic riders participate in our local Veteran's Day Parade riding the therapy horses in the parade. This activity alone takes much time and effort to have disabled riders and therapy horses ready to safely participate in the parade.
My husband and I haven't been to Kingman Healing Hooves, but we can see the smiling face of one of our adopted families son and how much he loves being on a horse and the joy he gets out of it. We have also looked at the other pictures and we can see the joy it brings to others.
This is an incredible place and Cassie has helped me a lot. She is very kind and this really helped my child. The first time when I visit the page and saw the pictures and see the happy faces I know this the right place for my son.
I MUST say that Kingman's Healing Hooves has been and continues to be a HUGE blessing for my granddaughter! She has grown and blossomed so much since starting with them years ago. Where I once saw a little girl that was uncertain about so many things, I now see a very strong, confident, caring, loving young lady. Her time spent with Kassie and the horses had amplified her courage and confidence. Kingman's Healing Hooves has given SO MUCH to my granddaughter and I am SO grateful that Kassie and her crew are there for her and other kids and adults that need them!
I have known Kassie for a long time and have worked with her for many years. She is one of the most dedicated people I know and is always looking out for the best for others, Her dedication to Healing Hooves is unsurpassed by any one or any thing.
Kingman Healing Hooves is an amazing program that helps so many people in Kingman and surrounding areas. I have known Kassie for many years and have been following her website for some time. To see the joy of the riders and instructors in pictures and videos that are posted is wonderful to see. It is obvious that the horses love what they do too! Kassie works tirelessly to continue to bring joy to many, that is her passion, and it shows!
Kingman’s Healing Hoofs is a place where love, patience and kindness go hand and ‘hoof’ with overcoming challenges in many individuals lives. Forgetting physical, mental and economic problems by focusing on personal goals and a sense of accomplishment brings confidence and joy as well as personal pride to each participant. I feel very honored and fortunate to have called Kassie a friend for many years and have admired her commitment to both her animals and those individuals she endeavors to help. This is a charity that makes a true difference in people’s lives and the community it serves! Bravo Kingman Healing Hoofs may you gallop into the future for many years to come!
Kassie and her family do so much for so many people in our community! I have seen what she and her horses have done for children myself. They help children and adults with disabilities. They also are very active with Special Olympics. Kassie has helped me in my journey to become a better rider.
In my thoughts of my son's passion .
As a single parent with my son being Autistic I have always enjoyed the things he enjoys , something all parents do. My son loves everything cowboy . He really enjoys going to Kingman's Healing Hooves . What I have witnessed is the way Miss Kassie is able to recognize fear and/or a meltdown , address the issue ,calm him down and finish the lesson. Darn few people can do that, to me, that is incredible as a father I tend to feel the need to but in but I am not the instructor. When we leave my son reflects upon how many times he has ridden which horse by calling the lessons levels. There are not many businesses such as Kingman's Healing Hooves,I find it quite amazing and for my son I am thankful a business like Kingman's Healing Hooves exists . Kingman's Healing Hooves is the best kept secret in Kingman, AZ. I found them through word of mouth, 4 years ago. Words cannot adequately describe the KHH experience. I would strongly suggest contacting them to arrange a visit. Kassie Schuerr and her family are amazing, and dedicated to helping others in their community. She has wonderful therapy horses that she has personally trained, and works with daily. From the moment you pull in the driveway to the facility, you know you have found the right place. You feel welcomed, safe, and peaceful. The horses are calm and relaxed. Kassie offers a variety of services at the facility and also has outreach programs for the schools. This is a place you will want, and be proud, to be involved with. They have something for everyone, able bodied and special needs, young and old. They depend on donations and volunteers to keep things running. For those making donations, this is a place that you can truly see where your money is going. The smiles on the faces of their clients are priceless and so heartwarming. I strongly suggest checking out their website and Facebook page, and then contacting Kassie directly. You won't be disappointed!
