Causes: Human Services, Neighborhood Centers
Mission: Kclb equips neighbors so that our neighborhoods thrive and our city flourishes. We do this through . . . - trainings on asset based community development- movements of change, like human trafficking and health care access- the church of the city, like leadership cohort 30 under 40 and prayer for churches.
Programs: Kclb continued to provide follow up asset based community development coaching sessions for aiding in the application of abcd principles in neighborhoods. We have developed a web-based app, called the map app, which surveys neighbors, organizational members and service staff regarding what they have to offer their constituent communities. It also allows us to help organize neighborhoods based on what they have in common. We periodically convene a network of churches in the greater long beach area, including the downtown church network, to build relationships and look for opportunities to leverage their collective assets on behalf of the community. We successfully transitioned administration of the long beach human trafficking task force to the salvation army, while continuing to assist in increasing relationships and connections along the continuum of care for victims. Prior to the transition, we directly assisted victims by providing transportation, financial compensation, food, clothing and emergency shelter. Kclb has participated in or supported efforts to more effectively involve church organizations in improvement of foster care and homeless services. The basic mission of kingdom causes long beach is to equip neighbors so that neighborhoods thrive and the city flourishes. We do this through trainings, leading or participating in movements of change and through the church of the city. Kclb is currently going through a discernment period starting 3rd qtr. 2017 to determine the future focus and priorities of the organization.
