Mission: We embrace children of diverse abilities and their families by providing the finest education and therapies to nurture hope, courage and the skills to soar. We are working towards a more equitable and inclusive world, where all children can reach their fullest potential regardless of their disability, race, ethnicity, language, income status or other demographic characteristics.
Results: We are proud of the outcomes of Kindering graduates from this past 2021-22 school year, including the following: • 87% of parents reported that, thanks to Kindering, they feel better equipped as caregivers. • 52% of Kindering graduates had age-appropriate developmental skills and no longer qualified for special education at age 3, saving our local schools $14 million.
Target demographics: The children we serve experience delays due to autism; cerebral palsy; Down syndrome; metabolic disorders; prematurity; seizures; visual/hearing impairment; or prenatal substance abuse. Others need help mitigating adverse childhood experiences such as abuse, neglect and homelessness that can interfere with lifelong health outcomes.
Direct beneficiaries per year: In 2021, Kindering supported 10,000 children (birth to 11), and their families and caregivers.
Geographic areas served: Kindering serves King and south Snohomish counties from campuses in Bellevue, Bothell, Renton and Redmond, Washington.
Programs: Kindering’s 23 programs and services, innovated dynamically since 1962, include speech, occupational, feeding and physical therapy; specialized early learning; infant mental health services; autism supports; trauma-informed care; outreach; connection to resources; and training and coaching for parents, siblings, caregivers, preschool/childcare staff and others who work with young children. Services are delivered by highly trained professionals, most with advanced degrees or training.
