Kids Saving The Rainforest is an amazing organization. I enjoy being able to be a board member and to assist them with their amazing mission. All of the volunteers and staff work so hard there to help and save wildlife everyday. If you have the chance to experience it for yourself in person you 100% should do it!
I’ve been a volunteer for 2 months there and it was amazing, great people and lovely space to stay, the way they take care of animals there it’s nice, 10/10 experience
KSTR is a great place doing a great thing! Volunteering is an excellent experience. You also learn a lot about the animals who live there.
I have been donating to KSTR for the last year and see the great things they are doing to help wildlife in Costa Rica. Their amazing program is doing great things to save wildlife and the rainforest.
The place was bought by two guys from the United States who own roadside zoos. This happened about a year ago. Their US places have long histories of animal neglect and deaths. They engage in shady behavior, lie to cover up animal deaths and other things and have a really high turnover. This is harmful for the animals and many die under their care because their staff is not properly trained. KSTR not the same place it used to be.
I have worked as a volunteer at Kids Saving the Rainforest for many years conducting tours, and helping in the clinic and nursery. I have great belief in KSTRs mission of rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing wild animals. They have helped many animals and planted many trees. They also educate the public. They serve a vital role here in Costa Rica. They have suffered a lot because of covid and need help. Hope they will be awarded a grant. There is no other organization that plays the role they do in this part of Costa Rica.
They save so many animals here. All the staff and volunteers put in endless amounts of love & time to rescue, rehab, give medicine and eventually place the animals back into the wild again. They are the real deal wildlife heroes.
We are humans. We share our home with nature because nature is our lifeline, it’s mother, it’s Gaia. These species are more peaceful than us, they are charming life forms that share the same home.
Help them in anyway posible, so we humans can evolve and stop this retrograde.
I have been supporting KSTR for several years now and love what they do with so little. The big rock star charities come with huge salaries and overhead and usually controversy. KSTR has a small staff and dedicated volunteers who have a true passion for helping animals and making do with what they have. Their goal is to rescue, release and educate. The Earth needs all the friends it can get and they are truly friends of the planet.
I have been collecting & bringing leaves for the sloths to eat at KSTR for 2 years now and I love it. I also sometimes help with transportation for injured animals and releases. It’s a great place!
The Rainforest holds a wonderful variety of animals but, sadly, they are often injured by road accidents and other misfortunes. KSTR rescues them and treats their injuries with the view to release them back into the wild. They also plant more trees where the vegetation has been stripped so that available habitat increases. This is very important work to preserve the forest and the amazing wildlife that lives there.
Great accomodations, great people, beautiful surroundings, great nature tour, and pool. Night tour was fun. Close to other sights for day trips as well. Been a few times before Pandemic.
I am a retired teacher. When I was still teaching grade 4/5, my students and I had a special interest in animals and the environment and protecting both. We live in the Northwest rainforest, so we researched information about rainforests for one of our projects. That is when we discovered Kids Saving the Rainforest Inc. located in Costa Rica. My students and I were immediately taken by the idea of kids saving their rainforest in Costa Rica and contacted them to find out about their experiences in order to get valuable information about how to protect our rainforest and the animals that live here. My students contacted them and were received with enthusiasm, kindness, excellent information and advice. As a group, my class and I supported Kids Saving the Rainforest with several small donations and encouragement to continue their amazing, valuable work. My students, kids In Canada, connected with Kids Saving the Rainforest in Costa Rica in a common cause, saving their immediate environment and its flora and fauna as a way of preserving our part of the planet for the future benefit of the entire planet. I can think of no better stewards of our planet, its environment and animals than kids. And Kids Saving the Rainforest are showing us the way.
This organization, located in Costa Rica, has a dedicated staff and volunteers who do their best to rehabilitate injured wildlife and return them to the wild. Unlike other organizations, the animals are not made into exhibits, rather they are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve. I was very impressed when I visited, and I urge anyone in Costa Rica to come and see all of their great work.
I had the honor of volunteering at KSTR twice when I was a young teenager. I know that I would not be as passionate about conservation and environmentalism if it weren’t for those visits. I am now graduating university with an Environmental Science degree and am looking to work in the field of wildlife preservation. And all that passion and dedication started when I met Jennifer Rice, the team of inspirational workers and volunteers, and witnessed the power of KSTR’s work.
A truly incredible organisation that does incredible things to tirelessly rehabilitate the animal of Costa Rica.
I have volunteered with KSTR for years and they have grown so much since their inception and humble beginnings in 1999. So many animals have been helped and gone back to the wild, so many wildlife bridges have helped keep wildlife safe and mobile, and so many trees planted to help the environment! Working with the animals here has been the most rewarding part of my life.
In 2006, I was able to be a small part of KSTR with the academic group I was traveling with from SUNY Oneonta in Oneonta, NY. While in Quepos, Costa Rica, we hand made post cards to sell at the Hotel Mono Azul to sell in their gift shop to support the organization. We were able to take flyers and pamphlets to the local shops and the beaches in the area containing information on why feeding the monkeys is actually a destructive act, for both the animal health and behavior. It may not have been a lot, but the organization is made up of wonderful people who put their hearts in the right place to make a solid difference.
