Kids in seats have given the students of Cardinal Hayes a tremendous opportunity and a life-long experience that they will always carry with them throughout their lives, and for that we say thank you to Kids in Seats. I am the person who is responsible for giving out the tickets to the students in my school as a reward for outstanding attendance, participation in both school and community events. I asked the students what they thought about Kids in Seats and this is how I summed it up for the purposes of this review.
As students, we are members of the Student Activity Christian Committee, National Honor Society, President’s Men, Student Council and Government at Cardinal Hayes High School, we are devoted to the betterment of all Hayesmen and our community. We accomplish this goal through a variety of activities such as: Two Annual Blood Drives, Thanksgiving Food Drives, helping with the school play, Christmas Toy Collection, and so many other school functions. S.A.C.C. is open to all students seeking self-development, community service opportunities, leadership skills and academic improvement. Being part of this organization has made us appreciate everything that we have and to not take anything for granted. In the 2018-2019 school year, we were able to collect 3,750 cans and raised more than $4,200 during our Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, which we then distributed it equally to four local parishes/churches. In addition, we are responsible for two Annual Blood Drives. Cardinal Hayes High School had the honor and privilege to be recognized as one of the biggest donors of blood among high schools in the Bronx by Ruben Diaz Jr., President of the Borough of the Bronx.
As kids from the Bronx, in fact the poorest congressional district in the whole United States, we never envisioned ourselves being able to receive regular tickets and even suite tickets to Barclays Center or Yankee Stadium or Citi-Field, nonetheless experience the perks that come sometimes with the tickets, such as free food. Kids in Seats have made life-long dreams of ours come true. We can assuredly say that you have become a great influence in our lives and overall happiness. Before today, we envisioned our Wednesday or any other day of the week as just a regular day of school in the morning and come home right away after dismissal. However, you have transformed our regular Weekdays and even weekends into possible extraordinary experiences, because we never know if because of what we do to help in Hayes or our neighboring community our efforts might be rewarded with tickets to a sporting event that without Kids in Seats would not happen otherwise. Not many kids can say that they received free Suite tickets to a Major League Baseball game, NBA game or an NHL game out of the generosity of a stranger, but because of you, we can.
We would like to say thank you on behalf of all the kids at our school, whom have you have given the opportunity to receive free tickets. Organizations and donors through your group are who we hope to be like in the future and hopefully when we make it in life be able to give the opportunity to some other deserving kids. You have made many of us feel very important and appreciated, and that is a feeling that we will never forget. Thank you for everything.
