The student-led group I advise was trying to do a fundraiser back in May 2022 and wanted the funds raised to benefit an organization centered around youth addiction services. When I called, primarily to ask about using the organization logo and receiving some promotion on their social media, the director responsible was incredibly rude, arrogant and unhelpful. She became incredibly defensive when I asked simple questions that she evidently could not answer. Future correspondences were not responded to, despite several messages and emails.
It was a disheartening experience, especially because at that time, I did not see the organization doing anything else.
Our event went on and was successful. We just decided to support another similar nonprofit where our philanthropy was respected and appreciated.

We had a poor experience with the Kids Escaping Drugs - Renaissance Addiction Services in West Seneca, NY. They appeared to be overly focused on earnings and receiving donations vs treatment. They required we give them $100 in small bills for our son to use as spending money in the program - they did not reimburse us when he was discharged 9 days later. They sent him to a local Emergency Department via ambulance but did not provide the ambulance provider with our son's contact information - as a result we just received a call from a Debt collection agency for an unpaid $25 ambulance fee. Pretty buildings but poor program. As a licensed psychiatric nurse practitioner caring for individuals with mental illness and substance abuse concerns I am unable to recommend or support this program.

Kids Escaping Drugs 03/03/2023

Kids Escaping Drugs is it's own individual non-profit that empowers adolescents and families to live a life free from the disease of addiction through community outreach, education and early intervention. IT sounds like your complaints are mainly in terms of treatment. Treatment is now provided by BestSelf Behavioral Health, Inc. (previously RASI) We do share a campus but are two separate entities. Nevertheless, we do hope that this was passed on to appropriate parties and that your son got the care he needed.
