I have had the distinct pleasure of serving on the Kids Beating Cancer gala for the last two years. I am extremely impressed how well this charity is run. They give back over .90 cents of every dollar to helping kids and with research. They run very lean to ensure that every dollar is maximized for the cause. Kids Beating Cancer brings joy to countless families. They provide hope and comfort when there seems like none. They are the light that helps keep families going through their darkest days.

The recent opening of their cellular therapy lab in Orlando is nothing short of mind-blowing, showcasing their dedication to innovative treatments and improving the lives of children battling cancer. I’m proud to be part of such a transformative organization that makes a real difference in the community. Highly recommend supporting their mission!

Kids Beating Cancer’s primary goal is to fund pediatric cancer research. Along with this funding, KBC assists with in-patient needs of the child and their family. They also host events throughout the year for former patients and families to gather and celebrate. For those not receiving treatment locally with KBC, gift boxes are sent to patients to make their hospital stay as comfortable as possible. We have gotten to know many patients over the years and we see how our funds have helped them receive the life saving treatment they deserve.

The CEO is not only completely focused on families, helping them in any way possible, but she focuses on the future research and finding a cure. Not only that she has had her own personal story that impacts her every day in working to fight for each child and each family. This nonprofit deserves to be seen and heard even more. For 11 years my wife and I have supported KBC's grass-roots efforts to serve children fighting for their lives against childhood cancer. Meeting these children at the annual Hats & Heroes Gala is a highlight of our year. And now with the expanded vision to cure pediatric cancer, the grants they fund are facilitating cutting-edge treatments for children around the globe while providing world-class care to Central Florida families one child at a time. We believe Kid's Beating Cancer is a powerful lever created by God to raise awareness and champion legacy gifts and philanthropy for this most worthy cause.

Kids Beating Cancer is such a huge blessing to my family! My daughter needed a bone marrow transplant to treat a rare form of AML. She relapsed after her first transplant, and they helped with a second transplant. She is now one-year cancer-free and doing great! Having her room decorated with her chosen theme gave her something to look forward to. It made her feel cared for, and helped her to know that she wasn't alone is this fight.

We were blessed to have Kids Beating Cancer supporting us in such a unique way when we came to the hospital. We knew, as the Doctors had already advised us, that it would probably be the worse moments we would ever seeing our daughter going through, but opening the door and seeing all they did to make her feel loved and taken cared of was just beyond and I remember stepping in and crying over all they had done. Besides the room they came often, they made sure we had food to eat at any time we wanted, coffee to make us survive hell, love, special guests like Santa and The Grinch, they made Christmas magic and Santa brought not only gifts to her but to my son too. Honestly they go above and beyond and they made the struggle of our life easier for us and all the other parents. It’s unbelievable to know that after losing their son they made this possible. They are giving us what they wanted their son to have. It doesn’t matter how many years it had passed, their son is alive in their actions, his memory is in everything they do and he lives in the hope we have for our kids.
Thank you will never be enough!!!

Kids Beating Cancer is such a wonderful non-profit. My son has been battling cancer for close to two years now and benefited from several of the programs they offer. He was welcomed into a “homey” hospital twice decorated in his favorite things for his two stem cell transplants he had. His first room was decorated in Thomas the Train and the second one was Handy Manny/construction themed. They definitely made his stays as cozy and relaxing as it could have been, complete with matching-themed toys and games to keep him busy when he was feeling up to it. We’ve also been able to enjoy virtual events like a dance party and a magic show. We love Kids Beating Cancer and their special role in making our son feel seen, heard and loved throughout his cancer journey!

I love this charity! Kids Beating Cancer means the world to my daughter. My daughter had a bone marrow transplant for leukemia at the age of 8. We had it done in another state, yet Kids Beating Cancer treats her like royalty and goes out of their way to make her feel special. Their caring and sharing has made such an impact on her that all she wants to do is to give back to this organization anyway possible to help them give. Margaret has a true heart of gold and desires that each of these kids have the best life possible. Her story is an inspiration. She lost her own son years ago with the exact diagnosis of our little girl. The research from cases like hers helped contribute to the success we are seeing today. We are so excited and thankful to be a part of the Kids Beating Cancer Family!

We first learned about KBC when our daughter was going through chemo in 2005. She participated in many of their activities. KBC gives families the support and guidance they need during a very difficult time . Their priority is to make sure families are well served . They also helped us to create wonderful memories even though it was a challenging journey.
Because of the positive impact KBC had on our daughter, she now volunteers with them when she is able. We love KBC and their staff. They are a crucial part of this community.

Kids Beating Cancer is an amazing non-profit. Everyone puts their heart and soul into the foundation to help raise funds to "fund the cure". We have several programs that help the patients and their families. My room is special because the children can choose a theme to have their rooms decorated in for the duration of their stay in the hospital. Research is the best hope to find a cure and this foundation provides that.

Kids Beating Cancer is amazing. When my son was hospitalized for one month for his bone marrow transplant they decorated his room with the theme of his choice. It made the room feel so much more like home. They also provided us with daily bucks for the cafeteria which really helped us out monetarily. Purchasing food three times a day is a major hardship for a family and Kids Beating Cancer took that burden away. They have a wonderful Christmas and Easter Party for the children every year. The children really enjoy being with other kids at these events that understand what the are going through. Thank you to Kids Beating Cancer for all that you do. Im so glad the Central Florida area has an organization like KBC to give these families hope and faith by working together as a community and showing them that the community does care. My favorite volunteering project was the "My Room Program" to cheer up the little ones and make their transplant process a lot smoother by decorating their room to their preference like Kiera and her "Frozen" themed room!

Kids Beating Cancer treasures all the volunteers who have graciously donated their time and talents over the past 22 years, and honors them for their service and selflessness. I have never seen any director, or employee ever treat a volunteer, or volunteers as you have described, just the opposite. I have never seen the director yell at anyone, again just the opposite. I am sadden you did not experience all the amazing work Kids Betaing Cancer has done for so many families and enjoy volunteering for this great organization. Back in 2010 my children were diagnosed with a blood disorder called adrenoleukodystrophy. it is a very rare disorder of the blood and can be fatal if not treated early enough in the stage. Out of the 3 boys that I adopted, 2 passed away from the disorder. Kids beating cancer has been so awesome and gives the most sincere concern for each child. I have been blessed to have them come into the lives of my children. Even after their stem cell transplant, they still check on my son to make sure everyone is doing okay. They have events in honor of the recipients and make the children feel so special. I would not know what to do in these hard times if it wasn't for Kids Beating Cancer society. It has made such a tremendouse difference in our lives and many others. I wish there was some way that I can repay them but they have done so much I could never begin to start, so what I do I make myself available to attend the functions to show my appreciation for all their efforts.

Kids Beating Cancer has been the best organization I have dealt with since my daughter was diagnosised in 3/2008. We were introduced to Kids Beating Cancer by a friend and we have attended both the Easter and Christmas functions. K. B. I am so impressed and grateful for their intiatives to bring awareness and donors to the bone marrow program. Their Holiday (Christmas)event is moving. Seeing all the kids enjoying a party where they can be themselcves is uplifting and the lighting of the candle tree is inspirational!!!! K. B. C. gave my daughter her first bike at this event and she was thrilled. It warms my heart to think of all the joy they bring to famlies. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Kids Beating Cancer!

My Daughter was a Sickle Cell patient with her sister being a perfect match. Kids Beating Cancer is the BEST non profit organization around. The team opens so many doors for the children and their families during a very difficult time in their life.

I was drawn to Margaret's story as I, too, lost one of my children to leukemia... Helping & supporting other kids & their families with cancer, has helped me to move forward... The compassion & genuine desire of this charity to make a difference in these children's lives, is what giving back is all about! Kids Beating Cancer, is my #1 charity of choice!

I was a volunteer for Kids Beating Cancer through a business class at UCF. I did not realize how much working with this organization would change my life. Through this experience, we gained an extreme understanding of what the Kids Beating Cancer organization does for the children within the treatment center. It is amazing what they do to try and help these children and families financially and make everyday easier. I got the liberty of being able to see the treatment center. It is beautiful, clean, and perfect for making kids feel welcome within the unit. I was able to meet Margaret, Cicilia and Dyan. I personally worked a lot with Dyan and Cici, who I was honored to work with. My team Guardian Knights and I were in charge of helping and raising donations for their annual Fall/Halloween Party. I actually got to spend some time with the children who have or were receiving treatment. These kids were STUNNING, these children, their siblings, and their families were a joy to be around. I fell in love with some of the kids I was able to interact with and get to know. This organization is incredible and is truly there for these kids and their families. They do everything is their power to help out and make the process as smooth as possible!!

Volunteering with Kids Beating Cancer has truly been an incredible experience. This organization is phenomenal and gives children and their parents hope when everything is going against them. Not only do they raise funds for transplants for children they also go into the hospital and decorate the rooms for the children based on their desired characters. It is truly a blessing to be able to work with such an amazing organization.

When my son was diagnosed with CML in 2007 and we were told he needed a bone marrow transplant I didn't know where to turn. I contacted Kids Beating Cancer and spoke to Adele. Insurance wouldn't pay for family and friends to be tested as a potential match for Matty. KBC set up donor drives for family and friends to be tested. Not only for Matthew, but any child needing a life saving bone marrow transplant. We are very honored to be part of the Kids Beating Cancer family. Margaret, Adele, Cecelia and all the people at KBC work hard every day for children needing a bone marrow transplant. I can never thank them enough for what they have done for Matthew and our family.

We have been a part of Kids Beating Cancer for several years, starting with attending an American Girl Fashion Show & Fashion Show held as a fundraiser, and later by participating in the show. My children got involved recently by helping design a room for a future patient at the Florida Hospital Transplant Unit. As a family we chose to decorate with a "Toy Story" theme. How wonderful to get a 6, 9, and 11 year old thinking of other children with this horrible disease! Margaret and the ladies of KBC are passionate about curing cancer in children. We have been blessed beyond measure by doing our very small part in helping the cause of Kids Beating Cancer!

I am always amazed when I hear Margaret tell the story of her son’s battle with cancer, and how the loss of her beautiful son became her inspiration for helping other kids get life-saving treatment, without delay and without separating families. Margaret and her Kids Beating Cancer team have accomplished so much for children over the past twenty years and, in doing so, keep costs very low so that almost every dollar raised goes toward making children well. At first, I thought that seeing the children and hearing their stories of battling life-threatening illnesses would be difficult to handle. On the contrary, it is so inspiring and humbling to witness the spirit and courage these kids display while fighting for their lives. They are all little heroes!

As both a non-profit professional and advisory board member of KBC, plus a former critical care nurse I feel uniquely qualified to provide the highest recommendation for Kids Beating Cancer. I met the founder, Margaret Guedes over 10 years ago as she passionately described the goals, and missionn of KBC. I asked if she was a nurse or a mother of a child with cancer, and she told me she was the mother of a child who had died of cancer. I attend a luncheon in spring 2012 and learned that Margaret's dream and the long term goal of having children treated in Orlando was about to become a reality with the opening of the Kids Beating Cancer transplant unit at Florida Hospital. After her 20 years of hard work, and watching and learning from Margaret for the past 10 years, I nominated Margaret for the Lifetime Achievement Award for the Central Florida Association of Fundraising Professionals and she won this prestigious award. Margaret will be awarded this honor in November in Orlando in front of 500 community leaders.

As a non-profit professional and RN, I have had to pleasureto know and work with Margaret Guedes and Kids Beating Cancer for nine years. The moment I met Margaret and learned about her son John and why she formed Kids Beating Cancer, I knew she would impact many lives with her courage and strength. This organization was born out of her love for son but her desire to save lives and help other families dealing with leukemia and other cancers is what keeps the organization going strong. I have seen children and their families who received a bone marrow transplant that would not have been possilble without Kids Beating Cancer and the dedicated work of Margaret Guedes in honor of John.

I have volunteered for Kids Beating Cancer for a few years now, Adele and Cecelia are great organizers and you really feel like you're contributing to a great cause when working with them. The Christmas Party is my favorite event, because you can see the happiness and pure joy on the children's faces when they meet Santa and receive gifts. I appreciate the hard work and effort these ladies provide, and look forward to helping out more in the future.

Well there aren't many women like the ones I have the pleasure of working with every year around the holidays. My family volunteers with Kids Beating Cancer every Christmas for their annual celebration and every year we take home something special. Nothing material, but sentimental value that is priceless. Year around the ladies of KBC are out in the community raising awareness and recruiting donors for the national marrow registry. Not only that, but they are building bonds and changing lives of families that are affected by various health conditions. I am constantly inspired by their dedication and selfless commitment.

I signed up to be a summer intern at Kids Beating Cancer not knowing that this organization would have the impact on my life that it has. What drew me to the organization was that its mission was to help save the lives of children that are suffering with cancer. Specifically, it is an organization that helps patients in need of bone marrow transplants. It is rewarding to know that when I am helping at fundraising drives and donor recruitment drives that I am helping to save a life. I have been lucky enough to never have known anyone close to me suffer with cancer. I became so inspired after volunteering here that I signed up to be a bone marrow donor.

Wow where do I begin? My son was diagnosed with brain cancer almost 6 years ago. A volunteer from Kids Beating Cancer came to visit him after his surgery. We have had nothing but a positive experience with the organization. Everyone there is so warm and welcoming and they are always willing to help. It really made me feel good to know I had positive people on my son’s side cheering him to recovery.

Kids Beating Cancer is an amazing non-profit organization that uses bone marrow donations and umbilical cord blood transplants to help treat children with cancer and other life threatening diseases. Kids Beating Cancer hosts bone marrow donor drives throughout the community, to gain donors and increase awareness of the benefit of bone marrow donations. This organization also provides support for the children and families through fun seasonal themed parties, hospital visits that include a special teddy bear or blanket, and overall general support during these tough times.
I am currently an intern and volunteer at Kids Beating Cancer and have learned a lot by helping Adele and Cecilia get ready for bone marrow donor drives and through working at the drives. I enjoy the time I spend at the KBC office and am always looking forward to the next opportunity I have to inform someone that their donation could save a child's life.

Since May 16, I have been working with Adele Doctor and Cecilia Marshall-Doctor at Kids Beating Cancer. It has been a great experience, working at an organization that makes such a difference in children's lives. It has been very beneficial for me, especially working at the marrow drives (up to 3, will be working at 2 more at Valencia), because I am not an incredibly social person. Also, my eye contact is still a work-in-progress. Doing these drives has helped me break out of my shell a bit and has helped me IMMENSELY with my eye contact; in fact, my eye contact is the best it has ever been for a very long time.

I am a nurse at Cape Canaveral Hospital. We are planning a bone marrow drive at three Health-first facilities in Brevard County September 8, 2009. Adele Doctor from Kids Beating Cancer came to our Tiger Team meeting, and showed a video and gave us instructions and equipment for our drive. We also had one of our associates speak who had been a marrow donor in the past. Both speakers were well received. I have appreciated the communication from Adele, and the support she has given us. We look forward to a great drive and hope to help a young man in Palm Bay who needs a bone marrow transplant.

Kids Beating Cancer is a wonderful organization from the workers, volunteers to the donors. It is such a pleasure to work a Giving the Gift of Life event for the US Postal Service. Our employees step up to the plate to become Bone Marrow Donors. When looking back over the years one USPS event stands out in my mind. One of our supervisor's brother was in need of a bone marrow transplant. Adele Doctor, Kids Beating Cancer and Elaine Pancake, US Postal Service gave us the go ahead to organize the Drive. In two hours we had 60+ Postal employees signed up to give the gift of life. The next drive was for the same person but in a different office. Once again the turn out was incredible! My thanks goes out to all US Postal Service employees participating in Giving the Gift of Life. My heart goes out to the family and friends with a loved one in need. God bless all. Sincerely, JoAnn Goodrich

The experience I had was great. They were honest and they helped us to provide help within our community. They were so professional and they explained the process to everyone who came to our Bone Marrow Drive. We have another drive on Aug 22, 2009 and they helped get the word out as well as got us on the radio. I cannot say enough about how they made everything so easy for this cause which has affected our fraternity personally.

Hi, I first learned about "Kids Beating Cancer" when I attended a police conference in the Radisson Hotel Miami in 2007. I attended the conference as a member of South Wales Police, and met Adel and the girls on their stand outside the conference rooms. I was interested in the work they did and the help and continued support they provided to children and their families who suffered from cancer. The information they gave was first class and they were trying relentlessly to to recruit new, much needed bone marrow donors to give these children a better life. I was so impressed with the work they were doing, I made contact with similar agencies when I returned to the UK, and have provided contact details of "Kids Beating Cancer" to them to share best practice and provide a link between the USA and UK. All I can say as an outsider is, "keep doing the good work" and please fully endorse the excellent work this organisation is currently doing.
