KFAR is a visionary organization which has opened my eyes (and ears) to the richness and diversity of global Jewish music beyond anything I had imagined. Adam and his supporters are committed to great music and Jewish engagment. Each stands on its own and neither is in service to the other. Introduced me to Balkan Beat Box and the Afro-Semitic Experience.
Kfar consistently offers programming for the Jewish community which is bold and innovative. It often stretches the old definitions of what constitutes Jewish culture. By doing so, it often engages Jews of all walks of life who might otherwise have no affiliation with their culture. Kfar events are often marked by a wonderfully mixed audience of Reform, Orthodox, Renewal and Hasidic. There are few, if any, other organizations which can draw such a mixture -- which is a testimonial for Kfar's dynamic programming.
Kfar gives the Chicagoland area a much needed injection of Jewish-themed culture. It also provides a much needed haven for touring artists as they try to make a stop in the Midwest worth their while. The programs are incredibly diverse, and serve well beyond their intended demographic. You see people of all creeds, races, ages and economic levels at these events. Every single event I have attended was a unique experience and has impacted my thoughts, listening patterns and overall enjoyment of my city's culture.
Even my generation ( age 66) gets inspired ith the upbeat presentations and energy generated by these shows. We plan on continuing to enjoy them for yeart o come. Burt Lindner
Over the past decade, KFAR has brought progressive Jewish bands to the Jewish mainstream..... From my experience, these concerts have brought together all streams of Judaism----IE--it's very common to see Orthodox attending concerts along with Reformed or even Renewal folks. Overall, KFAR is a great organization!
KFAR has brought a surprising variety of Jewish music programs to the Chicago area and made them interesting and accessible to both Jews and non-Jews. For example: The recent presentation, in the (gentile Polish) Chopin Teatre, of Daniel Kahn's Berlin-style strongly social-commentary cabaret group was extremely effective; the overflow crowd experienced the real feel of intellectual/political activism intensity! Then the next KFAR show was the super-contemporary Israeli club act Soulico.
Kafar consistently puts on top-notch, cutting-edge events at a nice variety of Chicagoland locations. Kafar is a great organization and I always look forward to whatever is coming up next.
Kfar is a treasure of an organization. Kfar brings a variety of hot talent to the young(er)Chicago Jewish community, while creating events that bring together a broad cross-section that community. Kudos!
Kfar Jewish Arts Center is a great organization. KFAR consistently presents excellent shows and provide wonderful opportunities for young Jewish adults to connect.
Kfar is the only culture and arts organization in Chicago that consistently presents edgy, interesting Jewish music and other performers. This is so important today and I highly applaud their efforts.
I love Kfar. They bring a wide variety of groups to this area- groups I would never get to hear or even know about without them. They are filling a niche and I hope will do so for a long time to come.
KFAR consistently promotes fun events that have introduced me to wonderful music and art that I wouldn't have discovered otherwise. These events have also been a good way for me to make more friends in the Jewish community. I didn't realize I liked klezmer until Purimpalooza this year, and Mor Karbasi is now in regular rotation on my stereo thanks to KFAR's promotion of her concert.
Love it! Kfar presents an engaging, diverse mix of arts by, about & from all spectrums of jewish life from music, to dance, to print and visual displays. We never miss an event- kol ha'kavod!
