I watch Karuna Society operate on a daily basis, and know them to be a most dedicated and sacrificing set of people. The animals come FIRST in their lives without exception. Everything they do is done with so much love and concern for the animals. No matter what the challenges, they face them all with fortitude and perseverance. Anyone who is looking for a genuine loving non-profit society to donate to, they couldn't find a better one than Karuna. I do know this organization does fantastic work to heal the animals they find, doing surgeries to remove plastic from cows, and also surgeries to control dog and cat populations. Mostly they do tremendous seva giving a happy healthy life to maimed and permanently injured animals, mostly dogs.
I have not been to the Karuna shelter but I do know one of the trustees who is a very dedicated person and am confident that all animals are well looked after and cared for in any and every illness. They give of their time and energy for the voiceless and defenceless and donating to the society is knowing that your money is well spent. Animals too need care and love which these dedicated people give in large measure!!
“All beings are manifestations of the Cosmic Divine. The forms are different but the spirit that animates them all is One, like the current that illumines bulbs of different colours and wattage. Cultivate this feeling of oneness…. Dedicate your lives to the service of your fellow-beings. Thereby you will be redeeming your lives.” Sri Sathya Sai Baba
I have been a joyful witness to the wonderful selfless service Karuna Society is rendering with immense love and compassion to our animal friends and the very source of our sustenance – the environment, for many years. Their unceasing commitment to relieve suffering of animals has always had an inspirational and transformational impact on me and perhaps on many others who have actually seen the Karuna team’s ceaseless, untiring and joyful efforts to rescue and serve our fellow beings in the animal kingdom.
May the divine work that great Nonprofits like Karuna Society for Animals and Nature are doing continue to grow and flourish.
My organization, A Well-Fed World, has provided several grants in support of Karuna's life-saving work.
Most recently for their surgeries that save cows who have ingested plastic and debris from "grazing" on landfills with their "Plastic Cow Project."
We also provided emergency funds when they provided sanctuary to 146 unexpected cows, calves and buffalo rescued on their way to slaughter.
They also share their resources, like well water, with local villagers.
Their work is incredible and Clementien is a non-stop force for good.
As a long time resident of puttaparthy i have observed tremendous improvement in the conditions of street dogs and other animals in and around puttaparthy. Due to karuna's sincere efforts and aggressive sterilization program, the number of street dogs has been greatly reduce. Regular rabies vaccination drives conducted by Karuna are keeping other humans and animals safe.
I am happy to know Karuna Society and I appreciate very much the work they do.
As a resident of Puttaparthi, I have wittnessed the wonderful work done by Karuna Society for the Animals here and neighbouring area. Example The Plastic Cow project compaign against the abuse of plastic bags which are a hazard to cattle and the environment. I wish them more success in their work and hope that more and more people will support them.
What a relentless and wonderful loving job the Karuna Society has been doing on behalf of the Voiceless ones: the hundreds of plastic eating cows, the buffaloes, the unwanted discarded dogs and cats, all these most beautiful souls mercilessly left to roam the streets of life ! The karuna Society has been a champion of sustained fierce service to all of them, in spite of the incredible difficulties they have often met with ! It is because of their COMPASSION, of their high spirit of commitment to the Noble Cause of loving,of helping, of raising the quality of life of our Siblings in animal forms, throughout India, that THE KARUNA SOCIETY DESERVES NOW TOP RECOGNITION FOR ALL THEY HAVE DONE, ON BEHALF OF US ALL. They have given all their time,
efforts, sacrificing their entire life to raise our Awareness towards what should be a naturally enshrined humanness deep in the core of our Being: Animal Welfare of the highest order, with the immense respect and love that Animals, like Humans, are entitled to as part of the perfect God`s Creation.
PLEASE LET US ALL STAND TO HONOUR KARUNA SOCIETY FOR ANIMALS AND NATURE !
In the service of Love, Truth, Justice and of "Unity in Oneness "
This is an exceptional charity doing such important work which not only helps care for the animals in the region but also trains and supports the people who depend upon the animals for their livelihood. Selfless, kind and compassionate staff who work tirelessly to care and heal sick and injured animals with a very underfunded budget.
It is with pleasure and gratitude that I nominate Karuna Society for Animals and Nature in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, India for the "Great Nonprofits Top-Rated Awards". Never before have I had the opportunity to witness such loving and dedicated care for animals, both domesticated and 'wild', who are in distress and/or whose lives and well-being are threatened. Both the organization's leadership as well as its employees provide selfless service to these sentient beings in need. It is hearf-rendering to witness the situation of these animals, who would otherwise experience a painful death, and heart-filling to witness their empathetic treatment and care.

I nominate Karuna Society for Animals & Nature at Puttaparthi, India, for The Great Nonprofits Top-Rated Award as over the years I have seen their love & selfless service towards animals big & small of different kinds. They are very active in rescuing & rehabilitating animals, sterilization of street dogs & cats to control their uncontrolled population growth, treating animals for their various ailments & surgeries for animals that have been involved in accidents. They try to maximize their resources & plough it all into their work.
I specially like their creativity in growing farm produce without using chemicals or pesticides and then selling these products (green & salad vegetables , spirulina, etc.) to make extra money for their cause of protecting the animals & nature. I wish this Society all the very best in their future endeavours .
Karuna is there to take care of any animal in need. Karuna not only provides food and medicine for the animals, the volunteers pour abundant love for each and every animal. A person who cares for an animal in any form is a very happy individual and you can see that on the face of the workers and volunteers of Karuna.
The Karuna Society is doing the most wonderful work. They help hundreds of wounded and homeless animals, steet dogs, monkeys, cats and a host of other creatures and provide sanctuary and protection for cows and cattle bound for slaughter. They vaccinate, sterilise, treat illness and offer a safe haven for so many voiceless ones at the mercy of human cruelty. However, the most amazing work they are doing is in treating some of India's plastic cows.........cows who are sadly left to wander the streets fending for themselves. They end up scavenging and ingesting plastic bags which once held food in an effort to feed themselves. This causes them excrutiating pain and untold suffering. The Karuna Society has operated on many such cows, removing the plastic, in one case as much as 70 kilos of it. They are also involved in educating people in how to look after their animals and how not to pollute the environment.....as well as campaigning to raise awareness about environmental issues. They need all the help they can to keep going as their work is invaluable and not enough others are doing it.
I have been to Karuna Society several times - to learn, to get my dog treated and to see their progress. I have always been impressed by this organisation just because of the sheer numbers of animals that are looked after, and their cleanliness, no kill policy and the fact that most animals are not in cages and are allowed to live in a natural way.
Each time I visit Karuna, I feel blessed to be able to witness first-hand the meaning of the phrase "compassion in action". What one sees at Karuna is unconditional love for the animals, something that is so rare to find in our world today. Whether it is taking care of injured and neglected animals from the area, or even spreading awareness within the community about crucial animal welfare issues, Karuna addresses a range of activities that go towards bringing back dignity to the lives of animals. If true change must come about in society with respect to the way animals are treated by humans, it would have to be a change at many levels, including urging people to THINK about animals differently - bringing compassion back into people's perspectives about animals. Karuna is doing splendid work in this field, and my prayer for them is that they go from strength to strength. Thank you, Karuna, on behalf of all the animals whose lives you have brightened with your love - I'm sure they send you many blessings each day!

I have been associated with Karuna Society for Animals & Nature for over 13 years as a Trustee and Vice-President of the organization.
Since its inception in 2000, with the support of a dedicated team and its well-wishers, the organization has grown from rescue and care of small animals to care of large animals (including wild life) and organic farming. Karuna Society has alleviated the suffering of numerous animals, helped local farmers save their sick cattle, raised awareness in animal welfare, organic farming, health foods and compassionate living.
Besides providing free medical care to all types of animals in Puttaparthi and surrounding areas as well as life time shelter to disabled animals, Karuna Society has provided employment to more than 30 locals, thus ensuring the well-being of their families.
Through our humane education program we have reached out to several school students to encourage them towards a compassionate and ethical lifestyle.
I feel blessed and honored to be part of this dynamic non-profit organization and am grateful for all the support it has received from our well-wishers. It has indeed been a fulfilling and enriching experience for me and I look forward to many more fruitful years with Karuna Society, serving this noble cause and contributing to every endeavor to make this planet a kinder and safer place for all creatures, great and small.
Considering India's laws to protect animals and the environment are so lacking, the Karuna Society's work is of paramount importance! Their existence heightens awareness of the issues, and their love, care, and dedication is so important! Continued success!
Over the years I have had several contacts with Karuna since I have been making several trips a year to Prashanthi Nilayam. There was once a dog who decided to give birth to puppies between the 2 buildings I was staying in and I would hear her puppies crying at night. Fearful that she and her pups would be hurt and were not getting enough food I contacted Karuna and after giving me some advice over the phone they were kind enough to come over to scope out the situation. Another time, after darshan a bird had gotten caught in a ladies saree and got injured. I was able to bring it to Karuna and were willing to keep watch over it and released it into their protected garden. Yet another time, there was a very sick dog with a large open wound lingering around the shopping area in the ashram and after contacting Karuna, someone came and took it to them. As it turned out, that dog had had surgery earlier and the wound had opened and became infected so they treated it until it was well. WIth so many animals in need it is only fitting that a group called "karuna" would've taken up in Puttaparthi.
Karuna society reminds us of our intimate relationships with nonhuman others and in general the inter-connected web of life we are all implicated in. It is a meaningful organization that calls us to venerate the earth and her creatures as sacred. Any one sensitive to the issues of animal rights, ecological destruction, organic farming and sustainable living would appreciate the Karuna society.
I have visited Karuna at Puttaparthi and was saddened by so many destitute animals. However I was pleased to witness this dedicated organization helping the animals.
You have my full support.
Keep up God's good work
I am a German woman ( so please excuse my English) and have worked at Karuna as a volunteer in 2011,2012 and 2013 for 4-5 weeks every year and I loved it very much, although it was sometimes very hard to see that it was not possible to cure a beloved animal or to see mistreated animals. But then I think of Clementin, the Founder, who has to look at this suffering for years and years and never giving up and I admire her deeply for this. I think, that Puttaparthy is the only place in India where you don't see starving and wounded Dogs running in the streets and that is because of her Sterilisation Program, which takes place every Saturday.
Clementin is a true Animallover, no matter what kind of animal, if it comes to Karuna, it will get the best Treatment that Karuna provides. All the other Reviews have written about her other Kind of work like education about nature and animals, the Plastic Cow Program, her Farm, so think, I don't have to repeat this except that it would be great if you could Support this amazing Organisation. Warm regards Sylvia
Every winter, for the last 7 years, I visited Putta Parhti where I have worked as a volunteer at the Karuna Hospital. For me it is evident that everyone who works there does it with lots of love and compassion day-in day-out. They care for a fast array of animals (dogs, cats, monkeys, snakes, camel, cows, donkeys and so on.) There is also a dog sterilization as well as a "plastic cow" program.
Please give them your support, they really deserve it!
I observe the work of Karuna Society since many years; I have a very good opinion about it. The animals' hospital as well as the animal shelter and also the organic shop are very useful and most necessary facilities to the animals and to human beings. Romula d'Silva, the vice president of the Karuna Society, is most dedicated and committed to this precious work. She has been several times in the Shanti Ananda Nature Concept School in Mudigubba (www.natureconceptschool.org) to teach the students about animal protection; the students enjoyed very much and learnt a lot. Romula gave teaching materials to the school and inspired us about animal protection. The very informative CD about the sad Indian "plastic cow" made by the Karuna Society was presented to the public in Mudiubbba in our project week 2012. I want to recommand to support the Karuna Society for their good and dedicated work heartily.

When I first visited India from the United States my heart was pained greatly when I saw so many animals who were suffering. I was so happy and grateful to learn of the amazing work the Karuna Society is doing to help animals in the greater region of Puttaparthi. Also their campaign to end the use of plastic bags (which animals eat) is impressive. It feels good to know that so many dedicated people are working there for the betterment of animals. I want this organization to receive all the support it can get!
Considering that the organization is situated in a remote town, it is with great dedication and determination that Karuna (meaning compassion in Hindi) has strived and continues to strive to provide the optimum care and love for all the animals irrespective from where they come. The animals are a priority and their safety and care is never compromised. Karuna, true to its name, is not just limited to the rescue and protection of the Indian dogs, but it encompasses wild life and large animals that have suffered as well as Mother Nature; for example, the rescue of dancing bears and large animals from illegal slaughter. In my fifteen years of being in the animal welfare field and working at several animal shelters, I can confidently say that Karuna, indeed, is a true haven for suffering animals and hope it will always be successful in all its future endeavours.
Karuna Society is since years one of the most constant Seva-organisations I have ever seen. They care about their animals and vegetables with unconditional love. And so they work as a team. No effort is too much for them. Nature is their example. They cherish every single animal that comes to them, whether it is sick or hungry, injured or dying. This Society is worth to be known as top-nonprofit Organisation, working with great expertise and love for the animals which are entrusted to them.
I had heard about Karuna Society through a friend and the good work it has been doing. As an animal lover I make some monetary contributions from time to time. Another friend asked why I was giving a an organisation which is far away , which I cannot visit regularly and do not know if my money is being put to proper use. I asked my sister to visit the place as she goes to Puttaparthi and she came back to tell me of the good work they , at Karuna Society are doing.
I am happy the animals are getting good treatment and love and food. I will always continue to assist whenever I can and strongly recommend those who are sceptical not to hesitate in helping our animal friends at Karuna Sociey.
Karuna might as well be a fundamentalist organization, if fundamentalism equates with conviction!
I know the founder personally, and she is chiefly responsible for me turning vegetarian many years back. She has never believed in arm-chair conviction, and her work is testament to her beliefs. Karuna as an organization is but an extension of her cause of animal welfare.
I have seen the work that Karuna Society does and it is incredibly important work especially in the context of this society we live in, which generally treats animals with disdain and cruelty. The Society deserves recognition for its hard work and effort in helping and caring for those creatures who cannot help themselves.
Jolanda Puttaparthi India .
never before I sah such an wonderfull Organisation and lovely loving Animal Helpers .the help Animals day and nigth yes day and nigth saving Dog, Cat , all kind of Animals Life , give them an chance to surrive. like also is the sterilisation from the Animals so the can lead an normal animal live what is in India not easy. I love this Organisation with the Helpers and the Doctor for her selfless Service on Animals. God bless all of them.
The best! These people are filled with Divine love and compassion (with actions)! I love their work and support them monthly. I only pray we have more beings like them on earth.
Vivi Devi (Vivianne Nantel)
Whenever I have come to Puttaparthi I have visited Karuna and donated. I am always in awe of the love and care with which the animals and birds are treated. Clementine and the staff are so welcoming and with their very busy schedule always have time to show me around and answer any of my questions. Whenever I have come across an injured animal in the streets, with a phone call, 2 people from Karuna arrive, often on motorbike if that is all that is available at the time and gently approach the animal and have a special loving peaceful way of being able to wrap it in a towel and take it back to Karuna for treatment. I remember years ago a dog lying helpless with a huge infected wound crawling with maggots and surrounded by a large swarm of flies belong gently wrapped in a towel, held by motorbike passenger while the driver drove back to Karuna. Two days later the dog was happy, well fed and the wound healing well. Karuna is also an influential vehicle for helping local farmers to learn how to treat animals with care and compassion when they are worked very hard or become old and incapable of hard work. The government of India has recognised Clementines work as a role model in India.
A wonderful charity, dedicated to helping animals in need.
I first heard about this charity when it was shown on the Luke Gamble's vet show and was very impressed by the effort and devotion displayed by Clementine and her charity. Especially in regards to how she gives her disable dogs in a care a second chance instead of euthanizing them as per norm in the western countries.
Keep up the great work.
I have no personal experience with this organization other than being on its email list. I am impressed. I am moved by the compassionate humanitarian work of this organization. It seems to be like a pebble thrown in a pond - the good works on behalf of animals ripple outwards and have many unexpected consequences of a beneficial nature to the community.
when I was working at Karuna as a volunteer I was amazed by how much sacrifice effort and devotion Clementine and all the great people involved put into the project helping animals in need. I saw myself that every single cent being donated is worth it and placed with caution in order to serve only animals. I highly recommend working at Karuna spending the most rewarding time with lovely creatures who deserve it so much...
This group is extremely dedicated and selfless. Year after year they keep serving the needs of the animals in their area and even nationally. I am in awe of their persistence and good will even in the face of many obstacles. This is an example of how selfless service should look. They are amazing! I have done some small work for them from the USA and feel it is my privilege and honor. I hope their work can grow and continue for many more decades.
Karuna does yeoman service to the cause of animals. Every animal is attended to with great love and care, with a view to ensuring a long, healthy and happy life.
In particular I would like to highlight Karuna's work with the landmark Plastic Cow campaign through which they have sharply highlighted the close interplay between India's waste disposal systems (i.e., plastic bags strewn on the streets) and the impact on cows abandoned on the streets mostly by illegal dairy owners. The ingestion of these plastic bags by the cows desperate for food, and the accumulation of more than 50 kilos of plastic in their stomachs, result in slow and painful deaths for all of them. Needless to say, the plastic bags render the cow's milk also carcinogenic.
Karuna, led by the fantastic Clementine Paus, together with some individuals, played a critical role in taking the Plastic Cow campaign to different parts of India, filing a Public Interest Litigation at the Supreme Court asking for a complete ban on plastic bags. Karuna conducts rumenotomies for every cow found to be filled with plastic - an expensive exercise, but clearly compassionate one - to liberate the animals from their agony so they can live the remainder of their lives with more dignity.
This crucial initiative links multiple issues - waste disposal systems, rampant consumerism and unbridled growth, environment, animal rights and public health. The campaign needs to be accelerated to increase public awareness and action, while also continuing to perform the crucial rumenotomies.
What Karuna needs is human resources to undertake the huge work that awaits, and funding to perform the rumenotomies, and provide lives of compassion and dignity for the animals. But fundraising, public relations and other such skills required to mobilise funds is not a skill area that they have, and being located in a small somewhat remote town places them at a particular disadvantage in terms of visibility in the public domain. Hence my endorsement for a stellar organisation that urgently needs public support and funding.
What Karuna needs is
I worked at the Karuna Clinic for 6 months. In the Karuna Clinic you cannot think of an animal or it's able to get treatment. Dogs, cats, monkeys, cows, deer, birds, even bears, with or without owners, and all are treated on volunteer donation basis. And it is not only the animals who benefit, because of the neutering program for dogs combined with anti rabies vaccination, the risk for the people to get infected with this deadly disease is greatly reduced.
I visited Karuna several times. I was struck by the love and commitment of the people working there. It is admirable to see how the founder of Karuna dedicates her life for the animals . I think it is the duty of mankind to care for and protect all living creatures. Karuna is a very good example!
Words cannot explain my time at Karuna Society. I have never in my life seen an organization that truly embraces the idea of equality between animals and people. I learnt more about what it means to have true love for animals in the one month I spent at Karuna Society that I have anywhere else in my 25 years.
Their dedication shown to providing care and welfare for all animals is amazing; from street dogs, cats, birds that can no longer fly, monkeys, horses, cattle, one massive camel to name a few!
Within the small means that they have Karuna Society finds a way to bring love, medical care and opportunities to souls that would otherwise be looked over.
Karuna Society is one of very few non profit organization engaged in Rescue and treatment of animals as well as educate the public on caring for animals and nature.
I know this organization and the founder since inception and she works tirelessly in providing a home and shelter to animals. At an age when everyone is self centered, she left a plumb job in Dubai and started this organization in Puttaparthi.
I wish the organization the very best.
I visited Karuna Society for Animals and Nature last year with about 50 students from our school. They treated us very well and Romula gave the children many insights about the animals and the wonderful work they are doing there!! We were all so impressed to see an organization taking such extraordinary care of hurt or orphaned animals in India We are inspired and grateful for their work!!
Karuna Society are a beautiful light shining light in Puttaparthi. Through friends I have been associated with them for over 10 years and have admired the dedication and efforts of all the staff there. They help and educate people. They work with domestic, farm and wild animals.
The Karuna Society and its members are doing such a fantastic job at providing humane care to various species of animals all around the village of Puttaparthi and elsewhere.
In addition, they have been providing our school with excellent educational materials and workshops on related subjects such as vegan-ism and animal cruelty via neglect, thus raising awareness among our children. Several of our children have visited their farm to observe the wonderful work being done for the benefit of farm animals. Also, their organic farm provides the community with all kinds of organic green produce.
For years Karuna's (as we call them) has been supplying our school with these organic products such as lettuce and spirulina, and we are ever so grateful to them. Otherwise, we simply would not have such important natural health products available to us.
Personally, I enjoy shopping at Karuna's store and taking advantage of their fresh wheatgrass juice, fresh curd and Himalayan salt, among other things.
Suffice it to say, we are all so fortunate to have Karuna's as a vital partner for sustaining a happy and healthy life in this remote part of India!
I am really in awe of the work and commitment Karuna has to animals and the environment! It is a remarkable organization that is dedicated to helping all animal related causes, a service that is much needed in India, where animals are not treated respectfully. Please support this organization in any way possible and help further its mission in India!
Karuna Society is an exemplary organization animal welfare organization, working towards ending the suffering of animals at different levels. Unlike many cow protection centers in which cows and buffaloes are still forced to give birth and milked, and their milk is used to generate revenue (and the unwanted young ones sent out for slaughter), Karuna does not produce revenue by exploiting the animals it protects. Karuna Society's work on the Plastic Cow project is unique, and has helped several cattle reverse their march towards slow and painful death.
Please support Karuna Society.
Very much moved to see the activities under taken by Karuna at a time where everything is equated to self happiness and money. There is no words to express my feelings towards Karuna's works. I am quite sure the Almighty will give you enough strength to condinue the activities.
With Kind Regards and Prayers
I am based in Mumbai and have not seen Karuna in action as such, but I have known the Founder of Karuna, Ms. Romula D'Silva and her daughter Roshni for years, and have seen their dedication towards this cause of animals. These are two wonderful ladies, who would go to any length to help an animal in distress. I have been donating to Karuna in a small way, because I know that every Rupee donated will be used for grass root animal work. This is a great quality to look out for in a Non Profit.
Karuna has impressed me as a very caring society for domestic as well as wild animals in Puttaparthi South India. They take in any animal that needs care and they provide loving care and medical treatment as required...they even have undertaken to take in cows that need surgery to remove plastic in their stomach an they have succeeded in saving many cows in this way.
I commend Karuna for their worthwhile work.
I have watched for 20 years and seen Karuna evolve from helping a few crippled dogs to expanding to include ALL animals in need. Bears, monkeys, camels, cattle as well as dogs and cats. Their desexing program of wild dogs across Indian States and Plastic Cow Program warning of the huge amount of plastic bags eaten by and killing Indian cows are impressive society changing initiatives. Karuna extends it's kindness through consideration of local people by employing them and I believe they have some program which 'loans or leases' cattle/buffalo to help locals with agriculture. The founding members of Karuna have worked tirelessly, often suffering real physical hardship and abuse as they strove to protect the animals and educate the people that all living creatures have rights. Karuna works to support itself by growing and selling organic food but this is 'small potatoes' when they have vet bills and have to buy food for drought starved cattle. Not a rupee is wasted and it ALL benefits the animals. Keep going Karuna, you are making a difference in the world! Please help them.
Outstanding respect and love for all animals and the team has very high standards for achieving difficult aims like how to gently move bulls and cows with broken limbs, how to encourage people to recognize the importance of organic farming not just for humans but for insects and birds ...Karuna is one of India's leaders in understanding that prevention of suffering is as important as relieving it.
I believe that this organization truly embodies what Satya Sai baba teaches us all. That God is in all beings and we must recognize that and have compassion for all animals. Animals unlike human beings cannot talk and thus do not have a voice. The Karuna Society for Animals and Nature takes the voice of animals. I visited this clinic in 2009 and was so touched by the compassion and dedication they were showing to the injured dogs.
Having sent a donation through a friend without visiting the place is a first for me. However when my friend visited the place and described their activities, I was fully satisfied that my money is in the right place, with a bunch of selfless volunteers who spare no efforts in their caring for animals. I wish them all their best in the endeavours........while we just send money and forget, they are on a daily basis caring for God's creations who cannot even voice their pain.......
I had the privilege of visiting Karuna several years back. I was so touched by the work they were doing that I decided to make them my charity of choice. I am going to go back to visit them this coming winter. I look forward to spending time with the animals and the people who care for them. They are an outstanding organization!!
When I found out what Karuna Society was doing to help the animals that were suffering in the area, I was moved. When I found out that Karuna grows and sells and educates the locals about organic farming and the use of alternative fuels, I was inspired. When I found out that Karuna is taking a lead in bringing awareness to the Indian communities, revealing the painful truth about the plastic bag that is killing thousands of cows and other animals, I was committed to help.
Am so grateful to Karuna Society for helping so many animals. Without them in this area the local people would have no where to turn. Further introducing sane environmental practices helps influence an entire community. Supporting Karuna Society is saving animals and helping people.
I was working in Karuna Society for Animals & Nature for several years, and was continually impressed with their complete dedication to the cause of rescuing, treating and caring for the animals. Everyone goes above and beyond the call of duty. Their main inspiration is Clementien Pauws, who is the founder and President of the non-profit. She would work the hardest and give the most of her time!
It was so wonderful to see all the happy and healthy animals who are not in cages, but have big spaces to run around in and enjoy. How happy they are to greet visitors!
Their organic farm, Spirulina production and manufacture of other products not only helps the animals with the profits, but also helps people to lead a healthier life. I loved eating the yummy organic veggies!
Karuna Society also educates the public about caring for animals and nature, which is vital to improving the conditions of the villages. It was great to see the slow but sure shift in awareness, whenever locals brought injured animals in for treatment.
