Mission: To promote and encourage public interest in and support for diversified agriculture; creation of a demonstration farm that serves as a focal point for disseminating traditional farming techniques, foster an appreciation of the traditional cultural concept of the ahupua'a and encourage and support youth agricultural training programs and other educational endeavors.
Programs: Cultural learning center: the cultural learning center provides hands-on, hawaiian cultural educational experiences to students of all ages with a primary focus on the traditional ahupua'a system (traditional hawaiian land division and way of living).
school partnerships: the school partnerships program works with schools and other educational programs to target alternative ways of learning. The program provides science-based cultural, and sustainable, hands-on workshops and activities.
opelu ('opelu project): an extension of the culture learning center, the 'opelu project is our makai (ocean) program where we maintain aquaponic systems and provide demonstrations. Where the clc educates about the mauka (mountain) piece of the ahupua'a, the 'opelu project educates about the makai (ocean). The project provides educational experiences on traditional, alternative, and/or sustainable ways of feeding one's family.
