The barn areas of racetracks are secured areas, and using the dog to search for illegal drugs or paraphernalia (whether intended for humans or equines), helps deter offenders from engaging in undesirable activity on the premises. As a former Law Enforcement Officer, I cannot say enough about how critically important K9s4COPs is, to not just the men & women in Law Enforcement, but also to the communities in which they serve.
These highly trained patrol partners lead to the seizure of multiple millions of dollars in illicit narcotics each year. They are also able to locate and identity explosive materials (especially important in these uncertain and dangerous times) designed to create mass casualty events. They apprehend suspects responsible for armed robberies, burglaries, assaults, sexual predators and killers providing some semblance of justice and closure for victims. And yes, they unfortunately at times unselfishly give their lives to protect their handlers and other officers.
K9s4COPs gifts these courageous and highly trained dogs to Departments around the country with zero Federal or State funding. It relies 100% on donations from the public to procure and train these dogs which can cost in some cases upwards of $30,000 per animal.

K9s4COPs has far exceeded our expectations. Having a K9 in the schools is a tremendous asset to our school district as well as our community. I have been told time and time again by students that they know not to bring drugs on campuses because they are scared that may be the day Lucy shows up. In addition to our school district Lucy is available 24/7 to assist agencies within our jurisdiction. Lucy has been on board Coast Guard boats, she has assisted at commercial motor vehicle checkpoints, and assisted with money and drug seizures with local police departments. Without K9s4COPs none of this would be possible. The organization is very professional and very organized and they are a tremendous asset to our department and to our community.

In November of 2019 Brazosport ISD Police Department received K9 Lucy thanks to the K9s4cops organization. What we expected was a drug dog but what we received was so much more. So to be clear Lucy is a single purpose narcotics dog and a very good one at that. She and I (her handler) stayed very busy the first couple of weeks working together. Since then students realize how good she is at her job and most students have learned not to bring narcotics to school. I have interviewed many students who admit to drug usage and don’t mind telling me they won’t bring it to school because of the dog. Finding drugs on campus is important but keeping them off campus is even better. The scope of Lucy’s nose extends beyond just our own police department. Lucy and I are available to local police departments 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year. In addition we are also available to assist at an international deep water port, U.S. Coast Guard, and other state and federal agencies which serve our community.
Lucy is also a valuable asset in community policing. The unexpected blessing with Lucy was her love of people, especially kids. We can give presentations from pre-k kids to high school seniors and even school district faculty/staff members. Presentations range from basic anti-drug to information about Lucy and about police dogs in general. Along with the presentations the students can pet Lucy and Lucy loves every minute of it. Often just bringing Lucy onto a campus can make a huge difference in someone’s day. For adults and students alike frowns turn to smiles and negative energy turns positive. As a matter of fact some schools say that Lucy is their unofficial mascot because of the positivity she brings. Lucy and I were visiting a school recently when a teacher escorting a special needs student down the hall passed by. The student asked to pet Lucy and when he was given permission the student got on his knees and began petting Lucy. It was then that I saw the tears rolling down the students cheeks. Lucy nuzzled her way under the students chin and the tears dried up and a smile took over on the student’s little face.
K9s4Cops has provided our school district with a valuable tool to not only locate narcotics in the schools but to keep the narcotics out of the schools. They have also provided us with a tool to educate students about the dangers of drug use and even provide a valuable reprieve for teachers and students. Not only has K9s4Cops benefited Brazosport ISD, they have also benefited our community partners.

Great nonprofit!! Makes a nation wide impact on crime! Police K-9s make the world a safer place. Not just the officer's safety but the community as a whole. They help take drugs and crooks off the street. Police department's budgets are tight and they are getting tighter. Canines are one of the first things that are cut. I would like to take the time to thank K9s 4 COPs for donating K9 Hawk and K9 Chapo to The Dallas Sheriff's Office. K9 Hawk came at a perfect time because my previous K9 Lewis was in his last days due to his cancer diagnoses. The K9s that were donated are a huge benefit to our department because we are a major narcotic hub for drug smuggling in the DFW area. K9 Hawk and Chapo have assisted in several major drug and money seizures with DEA and HSI task forces. Greetings !! My name is Deputy Ross and I work for Dallas County Sheriff Office in Dallas, TX. I’ve been assigned to the K-9 unit for approx. 2 years. My k-9’s name is Chapo who I received from K9s4COPs. Chapo was previously assigned to another Deputy prior to me receiving him. I attended Houston K-9 Academy with Chapo were we where able to get very familiar with one another. Since then as a K-9 team we have been involved in multiple narcotic investigations at the local, state and federal level. K-9 Chapo has been a asset to the community by locating multiple narcotics and removing them from the streets. These same narcotics that can wreak havoc have been removed due to his hardwork. A few years ago, the stars aligned, and I had a chance meeting with an old friend of 30 years, Kristi Schiller, who founded K9s4COPS. She was inspired by the story of Officer Dahlin, whose K9 was killed in the line of duty. Kristi started this organization to provide K9s to agencies that couldn't otherwise afford them. Hearing this sparked something in me, that it was time to give back and support our brave officers who put their lives on the line every day.
We were proud to donate K9 Boo and K9 Scout to this wonderful program. Boo is a Belgian Malinois, and he is working with his officer for the Conroe Police Department. Scout is half Belgian Malinois and half German Shepherd working with her officer for the Cy-Fair School District. Both dogs are dual-purpose trained dogs, meaning they don't just sniff out drugs and contraband, but they are also trained to take down the perpetrator. We chose their names based on characters in To Kill a Mockingbird, because they are forces for good. They triumph good over evil, and they care about their communities.
I am thrilled to be a part of this organization and follow all of the good deeds Boo and Scout do for our community.

After going through the grant application and being approved in July 2012, I was gifted K-9 Storm, a trained narcotics/patrol dog. K9 Storm and I were one of the first few K9s granted since the early days.

This organization has felt like a family to me and I’ve felt honored and privileged to be a part of it. Because of them, my partner and I feel like we’re able to make a difference every day.

K9s4Cops is an amazing organization, they provide K9s to so many agencies and schools in need. A lot of this police agencies do not have the ability and funds to purchase and a k9 for their department, and k9s4cops helps them by providing them with one. I have had the opportunity to meet and fundraise for this organization and it was definitely an honor to help them. I have seen and met so many of the k9s they have donated and they go above and beyond to provide top quality k9s. K9 Evo is a K9s4Cops K9 and he is pretty special to me. Very thankful for them and everything they do!
K94cops is an amazing organization that assist law enforcement agencies and schools across the United States reduce crime, manage the drug problem more effectively, secure schools, locate missing children, elderly and even fugitives.
By providing fully trained K9s and training for police officers whose agencies could otherwise not afford it.

It’s great! I’ve been apart of numerous fundraising events. K9s4cops.org is a great Organization that saw a need and found a way to fill this need across the country.
There is no machine that can do what these K9s can do! No law enforcement office should be without these amazing crime fighting tools. Thank goodness K9s4COPs found a need and provides these dogs that help keep our communities safer. I also love that they provide dogs to school/university campuses and help educate kids on safety and introduces them to the helpers of their communities.
K9s4Cops is an incredible and powerful organization that is making a difference in communities all over the world. With the donation of two dogs to the Texas A&M UPD, the campus now has two highly skilled K9s to help protect and keep our campus safe. I work on campus, so it puts my mind at ease knowing that these dogs are actively working to maintain the safety of our students and people within the community.

I'm sorry I don't know about anything particular group. I do believe any K-9s 4 cops are the best. The Police Officer and K-9 Officer develop a bond. They do all to protect each other and are loyal to each other.
This group of people go way above and beyond! When someone loses a k9 they are the first to offer support. I'm just a fan of this non profit and have no need of a police k9 but I believe a 100% in what they do. They are quick to respond and get back and their dogs and training is on point! I'd give them a 1000 stars!
We are a small municipal police department located in northern California. Our department operates on a very limited budget. Recently, we were forced to retire one of our veteran K9s, leaving us strapped to handle patrol and other K9 needs. It was a blessing when we discovered the K9s4COPS.org program and their select vendor, the HoustonK9 We submitted an application and they expeditiously awarded us (the McFarland Police Department) with a beautiful, young male German Shepard. We received the call from the K9s4COPS Founder, Kristi Schiller who in turn had us contact Jason and Jaz Stanze. Immediately, they treated us like family, from the initial phone call till the time we boarded the airplane with our new K9 “Otis.” generously donated by K9s4Cops Board member, Mrs. Ellen Susman. A novel can be written regarding the hospitality we received from the K9s4COPS organization and the Houston K9 Academy and staff. The selection process was intense but was dealt with through patience and diligence. Jason and Jaz were determined to see us receive the best certified and qualified dog for our department’s needs. Jason and Jaz made sure the dog we selected was healthy and received a clean bill of health through veterinarian documentation (IE. hip and elbow x-rays, and blood testing). These procedures were performed in the presence of a K9s4COPS vet, the Stanze’s and the McFarland Police Department’s representatives. Every moment was a first class encounter. There was even a graduation celebration for our handler upon completion of certification hosted by our Texas K9 family. I believe the relationship between the K9s4COPS Organization, the HK9 Academy and the McFarland Police Department will be a lifelong relationship that will be honored for years to come. Thank you so much for all you have done for our department and making it possible for “K9 Otis” to help protect the citizens of McFarland California.You will never understand the impact this canine has made to our community.

They are a wonderful Community-involved organization that helps nationwide to get K9s where they are needed. Founded in 2010, K9s4Cops has made a huge visible difference in communities nationwide. K9s for officers provided, Arson-detection dogs provided, K9s for cops provided for schools. What they are doing is life saving and life changing. In this day and age with the tension between LEOs and general public what can make a wonderful ice breaker and common link is the dogs. The children love them, adults are calmed by them. Bottom line- all bad guys fear the k9s even if they don't fear the cops at first. K9s get everyone home safe in the evening. K9s4Cops are saving lives, nationwide.
