The program searches for animals in need. Age or condition do not come into play. I know if volunteers who have taken Hospice dogs and given them a loving home for the last week of their lives so they don't die in a shelter. The volunteers who work with K-9 PALS are caring, living and giving.

K-9PALS has been a godsend to the shelter dogs in Santa Barbara County! Without the love and dedication from the K-9PALS team over the years, many of the shelter dogs with medical needs would have been euthanized. They are also crucial partners in helping dogs with behavioral issues get the training and care they need to thrive and find good homes. From medical care to training, to foster care, and much more....K-9PALS has been an amazing advocate and lifeline to thousands of shelter dogs!

I love the work this group does to help animals who need a "little extra" in order to heal and to find their forever homes.

This hardworking group of caring individuals are to be highly commended! They show up for fundraisers and use their own resources to raise those funds. They use their own money when necessary and are a small group which can be overlooked for larger names like ASPCA or the county humane society.
On a personal note, they saw the worth in a small stray who as a senior dog had lots of health issues including mammary tumors, bad teeth, and a bad eye from a previous accident. K9 Pals got this little dog the surgery she needed where many groups may have euthanized her because of her age. I adopted this sweet little girl 2 years ago and she has been my emotional rescue.

I got to work with K-9 Pals during the Christmas sleep over program for the dogs at the shelter. They get to sleep over with people who decide to take in a dog for a few days that way the dogs get to have a great Christmas also. K-9 Pals set it all up, had the dogs ready to go with a nice overnight treat bag to accompany the dog I chose for the sleepover. I picked a young German Shepherd named Luna who was adorable and played great with my three dogs. I hope they do it again next year because I’ll be there to do it again.

K-9 Placement and Assistance League (PALS) provides wonderful, all-volunteer support for the Santa Barbara County Shelter Services. They fund raise for medical care for the animals in the shelter and do non-stop networking to find fosters and adopters. They helped me follow a pit bull I found on the street and brought to the rescue. I had some concerns about her safety there because of her breed. They made sure I was able to keep track of her welfare. Because of K-9 PALS, I was able to make sure this dog was spayed before she was eventually returned to her owner. They are a huge asset to the rescue community in this county.
