Just Our Soldiers Helpers (J.O.S.H) is an amazing organization and one that I will continue to sing praises and support long after I leave my deployed location. Many of the locations within Afghanistan were drawing down due to the transition to our Afghanistan counterparts. This drawdown came at a cost to some of the smaller locations and airlift along with basic supplies became scarce. I reached out to the J.O.S.H. team and within days we had received soap, laundry supplies, razors, shampoo, deodorant (thank goodness) and snacks that put smiles on many of our service members faces. The fact of the matter is that for a while the only supplies that we had received were in the form of the care packages sent by Kathy and her team of volunteers. I can not tell you how blessed and humbled we are to receive the overwhelming support that we received from J.O.S.H. As an deployed veteran (14th deployment) it always amazes me how much people care and give to support the troops. The generosity and compassion of complete strangers is a daily reminder of why we are here and what we fight for. Thank you for your continued support, your generosity and your unwavering service to our nation.
I’m currently finishing up my 9 month deployment to Iraq and I would like to thank the amazing people at J.O.S.H, especially Kathy H. She was so supportive and always asked exactly what we needed and even sent myself and one of my other female soldiers our own boxes. :0) It was amazing the support that this community gave us and I cannot thank them enough!! Thank you everyone at J.O.S.H for making my deployment as well as my soldiers deployment so much easier and enjoyable!
I have volunteered at several of the J.O.S.H. packing events and I am always impressed with the quality of the items they ship to deployed troops. They are always very well organized and the volunteers are very helpful and friendly. I have donated money to J.O.S.H. on numerous occasions and never feel worried about how my money is being used. It is obvious from the types of items J.O.S.H. ships that they are using my donations wisely. I love supporting this organization and will continue helping as much as possible.
I have been acquainted with this non-profit for the past several years. Kathy Hewitt- the Founder of JOSH is a consummate professional who has selflessly dedicated countless hours, personal finances and boundless energy to ensure that our deployed troops remain well taken of. Her attention to detail is often observed in the smallest of things. The quality of the care packages that are shipped are second to none. The organization she leads takes the time to hear the needs of those who are deployed to forward areas- often with little or no support and attempts to fulfill those needs with quality hygiene items, nutritious snacks and other materials. JOSH, Kathy Hewitt and the countless supporters and volunteers of the organization truly are remarkable and their work greatly enhances the well being and morale of our service members abroad.
My fiance and I are volunteers for J.O.S.H. for many reasons..the main reason of course is because we love our service men and women and what they do for our country. Though there are many non profit organizations, we must say that the Founder of J.O.S.H. Kathy Hewitt, lives and breaths for this mission. J.O.S.H. has become a staple in our community and participates at every event possible to get their name and support out their so they can send care packages for our deployed soldiers. We have experienced the tears, the stories and felt the love and gratefulness in the letters J.O.S.H. receives from the soldiers when they receive a care package. It is more than a snack or hygiene package, J.O.S.H. makes sure every soldier receives a hand written note. We are committed to this organization and all it stands for.... delivering love and a reminder that the deployed soldiers are never alone.
Kathy founded J.O.S.H. when her nephew was deployed and didn't have access to certain items. It's grown and developed into much more than sending "care packages". Kathy puts her heart and soul into every box. Those who help Kathy with donations, charity rides, packing the boxes, etc. all love our troops. These packages lift the spirits of our soldiers by not only sending needed supplies, but a "little bit of home" in every box.
Kathy Hewitt is the person who created JOSH. This is an amazing organization that provides notes and care packages to those in the military. Kathy works tirelessly doing fundraising and making contacts to mail the packages. I love sending goodies to the females.
JOSH fills a need that many people don't recognize exists. Deployed military personnel are often under tremendous stress. JOSH provides them items that help bring about some normalcy in a decidedly non-normal situation. They provide things we often take for granted in our normal nine to five lives, shampoo, deodorant, soap, candies, magazines, etc. These are the types of things not necessarily provided but are essential. The items themselves are really appreciated by the individuals that receive them. As a retired vet with multiple deployments in my career I understand the void they fill. I am so happy that JOSH is around and so happy to help them in their mission.
JOSH is a pleasure to have benefits for and to attend other events that support them as well. Kathy pours her Heart out to try and help as many troops as she can. She tries to reach the ones that are in the most need with limited access to a PX.
While serving at my last Command stateside, I was fortunate enough to meet Kathy and participate in a couple of her fundraisers. It was extremely organized and everything she and the crew did was to honor and serve our nation’s military stationed abroad. In addition, a very close shipmate of mine was deployed to Djibouti where the comforts of home we are used to in the US are scarce. I contacted Kathy and provided the info to the Unit so she could send boxes of needed items to the personnel stationed there. When we received word and pictures of the care package arrivals, it was the best feeling I’ve ever had to hear from fellow service personnel and how JOSH helped to close the distance and remind them they are always in our hearts. Kathy works tirelessly to ensure everyone she is able to gets care packages. They are filled with the best things and are easily shared amongst the personnel; nothing is put to waste. This organization has a true mission to keep the morale of the troops as high as possible.
As a wife of a 20 year veteran I know how important this organization is. Not only have I personally donated, I have packed boxes and volunteered on numerous occasions. The time and effort that Kathy and her family have given to JOSH is amazing and a true blessing for our armed forces.
I have been donating to J.O.S.H. since 2011. My husband is a Navy retiree so this cause tugged at my heartstrings.
I had no idea at the beginning that Kathy Hewitt was financing the majority of the shipments out of her own pocket.
This organization is top notch. Only high quality hygiene and food items are shipped. Kathy is the driving force behind this organization and she continuously gives with all of her heart and soul.
I am proud to contribute to this honorable organization. God Bless J.O.S.H!
It is such a joy to work with Kathy and all of the other packing care packages and seeing smiles on the troops faces! The thank you notes and fabulous photos make all the effort worthwhile. Kathy has given us a way to give back through J.O.S.H.
J.O.S.H. is a wonderful assets for deployed soldiers. J.O.S.H. has supported my son through three deployments. JOSH works tirelessly to provide comfort and support to our soldiers. I appreciate everything they do to make my son and other soldiers deployments a little more bearable! Thank you isn’t nearly enough!
JOSH has supported my son through three deployments in the past six years. JOSH is a very important organization that provides support and encouragement to soldiers deployed all over the world. I can't thank them enough for everything they do!!!!
This is one charity I have no problem donating to, they are an honest and ethical charity that truly cares about the soldiers they help. We as Americans need to help these soldiers survive being deployed by helping support them by giving to J.O.S.H. Thank you J.O.S.H. for caring for our soldiers.
When our sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, husbands, wives, etc...are far from home without basic necessities it can be extremely lonely. It takes a toll on a person for sure. J.O.S.H. more than helps fill that void. Packages were sent to my nephew when he was in the “sandbox”. Imagine not only getting mail but inside that box is shampoo, shaving cream and dry socks. This organization goes to great lengths to help preserve ones mental state and to remind those serving our country that we appreciate them, that we remember them and most importantly that we care. I don’t want to imagine a day without J.O.S.H.
I've came to know J.O.S.H. almost by accident but trust me, it's been anything but an accident. I am happy to be able to help such a wonderful organization that selflessly gives so much to so many they will never meet, all so those serving our country know they are special and not forgotten. For many service members who receive packages it is the only mail they get, they may be lonely and they may be feeling depressed. These care packages help change all that.
J.O.S.H. has made a huge difference in many lives,
Including people close to me. As a military mom, I am feel grateful to know there are people who care so much about people (like my sons, nephew, etc...) and want to bring some joy to their lives in some of the most challenging times of their lives.
J.O.S.H. has been an unbelievable gift to 174 Marines on deployment since 9/11/2017. This deployment took all families of these 174 by surprise in as much as they had 30 days notice and were gone. We as families were not provided an address until 4 days after they deployed. I reached out to Kathy Hewitt and J.O.S.H. because of her Mission Statement fit not only my son but the others deployed. They are in a remote area, and have zero access to anything. These Marines had about a 30 day supply of things with them and on Sept 20, 2017 I was confident that I had made an excellent choice in dealing with J.O.S.H. Our guys have appreciated the boxes that they had gotten since. J.O.S.H. started sending parcels of much needed things like hygiene products and snicky snacks. Our Marine said because they had not had access to showers, many took showers with uniforms on and used the body wash products to be able to wash there uniforms. (betcha didn't see that coming)
Many of these 174 did not have family or friends when deployed because it happened so quickly and the timing and travel was cost prohibitive. My husband and I gave out as many hugs and handshakes as we could. It was nice to come home and find J.O.S.H on the internet and actually have such a wonderful response. Our son said most now know Kathy Hewitt by name as well as J.O.S.H.
At some point I will be able to provide images however because of the lack of communications and availability to technology I don't have any at this time...........J.O.S.H. and its TEAM are wonderful. Thank you so very much in helping us help our Marines.
Hugs to you all..............with love MoM..........
I have supported and volunteered with J O S H for over 4years because of the love and devotion that Kathy and her entire family have for our troops. Sometimes J O S H has run on faith, hope and Kathy’s heart. Many times only on a thin shoe string. My all time favorite 501(3)c.
Where to begin - I have been supporting JOSH on and off for about 4 years. It is one of the most fulfilling opportunities I have been blessed to be associated with. Kathy and Dennis are fine, caring people who put their hearts and souls along with love into each box packed and shipped. What this organization does touches so many.
Having had the opportunity to check out the organization first hand, I came away very impressed with the level of commitment and amount of dedication the founders put into this operation. J.O.S.H. is the real deal with ALL of the efforts focused on ways to put donations to use helping the wonderful soldiers who give themselves to protect our country and way of life. I've also had the opportunity to hear the stories of just a few of the soldiers who have received JOSH packages and can see what a difference JOSH makes! Anyone having the ability to give to this operation can know they are truly making a difference in the lives of soldiers serving in remote areas.
J.O.S.H. started out of the home of Kathy Hewitt. She started out by just sending care packages to her nephew and then realized there was a huge need to help other servicemen and women in remote areas who did not have access to simple snacks and everyday needs. This is truly a labor of love for Kathy...selfishly and endlessly thinking how else she can help out. Monies donated go directly to those care packages, and not a penny is ever wasted. Kathy works pure magic with the purchases and packaging. If you are looking for a nonprofit to donate time, money or goods...with J.O.S.H. you will never regret it. Matter of fact, you'll be tempted to help out more often and spread the word to others. It is such an honor to be one of Kathy's volunteer army!
