Causes: Women, Womens Service Clubs
Mission: The junior league of philadelphia, inc. Is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
Programs: As the largest fundraiser the junior league thrift shop, located in ardmore, pennsylvania, sells gently used quality merchandise (clothing and household items) donated by the membership as well as the local community at affordable prices. Not only does the junior league fulfill a need for local residents by supplying goods at great prices, we are also able to provide volunteer opportunities. Finally, as our largest source of revenue, the thrift shop supports much of our community and membership programming.
almost all of the junior league of philadelphia's community service projects are centered on our "apple a day healthy living initiative" (aad). This focus was determined by a vote of the membership in 2012 and will continue for a minimum of 10 years. Apple a day promotes healthy living and food distribution through a four-pronged approach: facilitating, educating, empowering, and distributing (f. E. E. D. ). While specific programming may change from year to year, our goal is to tie all partnerships and project objectives to one area of f. E. E. D.
as a training organization, a large percentage of our dues are spent on educating our membership. We provide both local trainings available for all members and trainings for selected leaders in locations across the country, which are offered by our parent organization, the association of junior leagues international. Other resources are used to keep our 800-person membership informed about ways the jlp is making an impact in philadelphia as well as upcoming volunteer opportunities and events to meet other members.
