Causes: Children & Youth, Education, Youth Development - Business
Mission: Nationally, JA has been in existence since 1919. Junior Achievement of Elkhart county was chartered in 1958 by a group of local businessmen with a vision for our local youth to learn more about the world of business through Junior Achievement programs. Today, our mission is the same--to teach students the value of free enterprise to improve the quality of their lives. However, JA programs could not have the profound impact they have on young people without the support of volunteers from the business community. These volunteers use their personal experiences and JA's curricula to show students how a community works, how to balance a checkbook or even what goes into running a business. The inclusion of these volunteers is what sets us apart from any other economic education organization. Our donors make all of this possible with their tax-deductable contributions.
JA programs help to motivate students in new ways. JA of Elkhart County wants to ensure that every child in our county has a fundamental understanding of the free enterprise system. After all, these are our future citizens, tax-payers and leaders, not only for our county, but for the country.
