Mission: Junior achievement is the world's largest organization dedicated to educating students in grades k-12 about entrepreneurship, workforce readiness and financial literacy through experiential hands on programs taught by trained volunteers.
Programs: Junior achievement of eastern north carolina develops and coordinates high quality economic educational programs in 18 counties in north carolina (wake, durham, orange, moore, cumberland, wilson, pitt, person, caswell, chatham, nash, edgecombe, lenoir, wayne, sampson, lee, harnett, and johnston) facilitating programs through partnerships with the business and education communities. Programs are designed to help students acquire an understanding of the fundamental principles of economics and the free enterprise system. Programs are implemented in elementary, middle and high schools as well as other afterschool and camp programs. Additionally, junior achievement coordinates job shadow opportunities providing students work based learning experiences outside the classroom. Ja of eastern nc utilized 480 volunteers teaching 432 classes to reach approximately 11,317 students in the year ended june 30, 2017.
