Causes: Education
Mission: The julia morgan school for girls is dedicated to the intellectual, creative, social, and emotional growth of girls during their critical middle school years. Its mission is to provide educational opportunities and positive role models not fully afforded girls in coeducational institutions. The goal is to create an arena for academic excellence, critical thinking, positive risk taking, and the development of individual talents. Learning extends beyond the walls of the classroom into the community to foster compassion and social responsibility. The julia morgan school is committed to creating a school community that reflects the remarkable diversity of the east bay. In addition, it aspires to serve as a resource on girls' education for public and independent school educators. The primary objective of the school is to inspire young women to be passionate, lifelong learners while preparing them to be the confident, capable, creative, and compassionate women of tomorrow.
Programs: The education program served 165 sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students from approximately 65 public and private schools. Graduates of the school enrolled in approximately 20 public and private high schools.
the girls' summer camp served 66 girls entering 4th, 5th, and 6th grade.
the after school study hall program provided care and quiet study space for approximately 80 girls.
