I first became aware of The Bible Training Center 10 years ago when I was invited to a weekend seminar on the book of Genesis. I didn't know what to expect but I had a rare free weekend so I attended. When I arrived that Friday evening, I overheard a couple sitting a couple of seats down from me talking about the presenter and how he had studied Hebrew abroad and how he uses life experiences to bring the text alive in the class room. I was somewhat excited and somewhat fearful. What if it was all over my head? I was in seminary at the time but I was just beginning my studies and was really struggling with a hermeneutics class. The last thing I needed or wanted was a dry lecturer.

I decided to stay. . . .after all, I could always tip out at the first break if needed. The class began and the presenter immediately raised my comfort level by asking that we not take notes but listen to the lecture, follow the slides and interrupt him at any time with questions.

Throughout the presentation that night and the following day I was spell-bound. As many times as I had read Genesis I had never really understood the meaning of the interactions between God and Adam, Adam and the garden, Adam and Eve, Eve and the serpent, God and the serpent; nor had anyone explained the two trees.

Every class that I have attended with Bible Training Center has resulted in life application impact. Not just that I learn God's precepts but His word is presented in a way that helps me apply what I've learned. Bible Training Center is the place where I learned the difference in saying, "here is the Way, walk in it" and saying, "here is the way and here is how you walk in it."

Because of the Bible Training Center, I as a Christian minister understand my obligation to not only speak/teach the word of God, but to also disciple people; that is walk with them, be spiritually present in their lives by praying with them and for them; and most importantly remain vigilant in studying the Word of God.
