I am a survivor of domestic violence. I was married for 24 years all of the sudden a single mom of a wonderful 14 year old at the time. My days consisted of getting my son up for school climbing back in bed and staying there until he got home. I was suffering from deep depression and also PTSD.
In August of 2015 I got out of bed and went to a volunteer meeting. I never knew how life changing that day would be for me. Lisa’s Mom used to tell her everyone has a purpose until their last breath. I had lost my purpose and Joy. I have been a part of this wonderful organization for over two years now. From helping at events, to help passing out backpacks, to meeting people and sharing my story. To be there when people are at their darkest hours, and helping them find their purpose, helping them heal. I’m just so honored to be a part of this organization.
Giving = Joy
Joy = Hope

Joy in the Cause is more than a non-profit organization or a place to volunteer, it is where Hope is restored and Joy is found. Founders, Skipper and Lisa Bain, devote their personal time and finances to help those in need in our community, from Kids in Crisis to Joy in the Cause volunteers to our senior citizen heroes. The office is filled with stories of healing and staffed by volunteers who have all been impacted personally by Joy in the Cause. Many of the volunteers suffer from life-altering illness and yet find that by giving back their time and talents they are personally impacted more than they could ever imagine.
Seeing Mavis Pearl, bulldog ambassador, in action as a therapy dog extrodinaire is quite a blessing as well. She brings love and smiles wherever she goes, and always knows the just right person in the room who needs her special brand of love. Lisa Bain takes special care to attend hospice visits when requested, and has been privledged to be present at the last moments of so many precious lives, singing them Home.
The reach and scope of the people and community who are aided by Joy in the Cause keeps growing each year, and the newest project, Joy to the Rescue, is now state-wide, helping domestic violence survivors, kids in crisis from trauma, young mothers in therapy, families suffering life-altering situations, and so many more. Seeing the smiles on the young faces of kids who recieve a backpack, somehow knowing that their little Mavis Pearl dog will make it all better, is one of the more rewarding experiences in life.
Joy in the Cause is making a difference in our community. They care, they love unconditional, and they are doing good for the sake of helping others, everyday. God bless Joy in the Cause!

Joy in the Cause is a light that shines in the dark places. I've seen so many lives changed, both those hurting or sick, and people volunteering (looking for a purpose). Joy in the Cause provides hope and healing to so many. They bring communities together for a unified purpose to help those who are hurting. Lisa Bain and the volunteers in this organization have servants hearts and they are ready and willing to help whenever needed. If you are looking for a place where you can help others and, in return, receive overflowing joy, this is the organization to join!!
This organizaton does everything with a spirit of excellence and the founders are very touchable. They are awesome stewards of what the good Lord God has blessed them with. It's an honor and privilege to be a part of such a reputable organization.
There truly can be Joy even in our darkest times, and this organization helps make that happen in so many ways!
During the time I was looking for an organization to volunteer for my husband met Lisa Bain and came home and told me all about this organization called Joy In The Cause, I have been so blessed being a volunteer for the last 14 mos. My husband is a medical pilot, he has amazing stories of the comfort these dogs give to the children during horrific pain they're enduring. Since I have been a volunteer, I'm amazed of how many people I have spoke with, including my neighbor that have been touched by these magnificent dogs that have helped them in the most devastating times in their lives. I have never met a more loving and giving group of people that have nothing but love and joy in their hearts to help so many people in need during a rough time.
Lisa has a heart of gold and is by far the most giving person I have ever come across. Her "JOY" is contagious. It makes me strive to be a better person and to bring "JOY" to everyone I meet.
I learned about Joy in the cause when my office became a sponsor. In no time several of us wanted to get more involved and become volunteers so we have. We love Joy in the cause and everything they do. We try to participate in all we can because we always leave feeling blessed or just had a great time with some new made friends. JITC is the best!
Joy in the Cause is such a wonderful positive organization! I love everything they do. They are helping so many people & organizations! They are so organized and ready to help anyone! They helped me by coming to see me in the hospital after my breast cancer surgery! Loved all the sweet gifts from my sweet Mavis dog, bracelets & quilt! Lisa and her sweet Joy in the Cause volunteers mean the world to me and so many others! Love Joy in the Cause!
I became a volunteer for JITC around two years ago, I did this to honor my friend who was involved with this organization. She passed away with ovarian cancer after a long battle, this organization brought her more Joy during this time. JITC has done more for me than I have for them, best bunch of caring volunteers and leaders I have ever met. I am so blessed to be a small part and watching the love and prayers and help pouring out to people in need. Everyone needs JOY in their life.
I volunteer for Joy in the Cause. This organization is amazing. I love helping and Lisa is wonderful.
The best charity ever. My husband was diagnosed w Chronic Myeloid leukemia almost 6 yrs ago. Lisa and Mavis came to do a home visit and brought a care package w a boy Mavis dog and littke girl one for me. Mavis played w our 2 dogs and she Lisa had just lost her own mother a few weeks before visiting us. Instead of staying at home she was out giving love and spreading Joy to us in a very hard time for us. It truly was like medicine, like a shot in the arm of encouragement for us. This is the most heartfelt loving charity ever :) the gift cards too were such a blessing as we hadn't been out much to eat. And we were so grateful we decided for me to want to volunteer even though I had my own health challenges at times. Lisa and Skipper are some of the finest people we know. Truly filled with great heart, love and integrity ever.
The company I work for was looking for an organisation to sponsor and give donations to help support them. Lisa Bain and others with Joy In The Cause came and talked to our staff. I was so touched and impressed hearing about all the many ways they help people in our community. I decided to become a volunteer and in the 2 years I have been volunteering, I have been so blessed and my life changed so much it is amazing! My husband and daughter also volunteer for Joy In The Cause with me so even my family has been blessed. Who knew so much could come from a simple office meeting. I love this organization and everything they stand for and do for others.
Joy In The Cause is a wonderful charity with a healing message of joy for those it serves. I know when I donate to JITC the money is going to help those in need. Whether it's a grandma receiving chemo, child with a brain tumor, family who has lost a baby Lisa and her team are always ready to help in any way they can with a servants heart. I recommend this charity highly!

Joy in the cause brought my family a care package when our daughters were attacked by a dog, and we were in the hospital several weeks. They gave us a reprieve for a few hours from being sick.
Since we have all become volunteers and Joy in the Cause has connected us with purpose in helping others. Lisa and the Joy community are amazing people and Im glad we get to do life with them.
This organization is not only awesome to their volunteers but they are the best thing that is around in OKLAHOMA. They always make sure you see and know where your donations go. They have help many of my friends and family and I volunteer for them to give back. They have been there when you need them most !
They help so many people who need someone to talk to. They visit people who are in the hospital and just need someone to visit with. The Mavis dogs are a special treat my daughter loved it when they took one to her in the hospital.
I've had the wonderful opportunity to bless others through Joy In The Cause! Claremore Rainbow has been working with Joy In The Cause since the very beginning. While I was president of Claremore Rainbow I picked to work with Joy In The Cause and raise money! We've raised over $3000 and have been able to see where our money went! Lisa is a major blessing. I'm forever thankful for the love and support Lisa and Skipper show. They appreciate every little thing done for Joy In The Cause and never fail to make everyone feel special and important!
Joy in the Cause does so much to help those in need in our community. The Mavis Pearl dogs bring so many smiles to all ages of people- kids in crisis, residents of nursing homes, patients in chemotherapy, and children dealing with difficult circumstances. The backpacks given to local law enforcement and first responders help children so much during a rough time! Joy in the Cause helps so many people! I am proud to volunteer with such giving and devoted people!
