Lisa and her Mom founded Joy in the Cause. They helped our family for months when my husband was in the hospital. The board and staff made changes ih the Organization that were completely contrary to what they started. We watched them blurr the lines to make people believe Lisa was still there. So sad they keep Marvis Pearl as there mascot . Please do your research before using this Organization.

It was completely disheartening to hear the founder of this once great organization was removed from it by people she may have trusted. I can only hope that they will continue to do good but any and all positive posts about this organization while still run by Lisa should be removed and let’s see if they can create new positives for the community. I had previously volunteered and donated but that’s over as I know this organization broke the heart of a good woman. Shame on you.

If I could give it ZERO stars I would. This organization was founded by Lisa B. A group of people thought the idea was so amazing and tried to side as so called friends when they turned their backs and took the charge towards “Removing” Lisa and her family from all roles with the organization. I will tell you first hand, this organization is now a lie and one that I am sick daily looking at. As a member, volunteer, office worker and more I can say the day I found out the truth was the day I walked away. This so called group should NOT have a 501c3 anymore. They are frauds. This group is a disgrace and I wish everyone knew the honest truth. I would encourage you to do all the research for yourself. But, the only people “working” here now are the ones who just wanted their name and money for something that was never theirs. I should add Lisa never took money from this organization because it was founded on her mothers beleifs and the passion she sought for helping others find joy in their journey. My joy was found during one of my darkest times and it was because of Lisa and her passion for those of us walking the path of dark. Please remove this group. Seeing there’s tons of other negatives and it’s not just me is sickening.

I was one of their team leaders for a couple of years when Lisa B was still active in the company. She trusted the leaders to take care of the community served. When she left, I had money from a personal fundraiser, from my deceased son's birthday fundraiser we do every year, to buy snacks to provide care packages to families battling childhood cancer. I wasn't even trusted to go to Sam's Club and purchase snacks like I had in the past. The new "people in charge" looked at me like I was going to take money from those families, families that were just like ours...battling childhood cancer. My family and friends had bought many snacks and donated a lot of money to this fundraiser, knowing right where it was going since it had been that way for a few years. My heart broke that day knowing I wasn't trusted with the snacks and money to provide these families while their child received treatment. While this wasn't a faith-based non-profit, God has His hand on it while Lisa was there. Now, it has gone the way of the world, not of our Creator. No trust. No true love for the community. No real dedication to seeing that those who need true joy in their lives after going through hard times actually receive joy from those who truly care. If you truly want to help the community, send your donations elsewhere.

Legally a nonprofit should be following General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) which require them to internally account for all donations. All funds coming into an organization must be deposited to be acknowledged. It's not a trust issue, it's a standards issue that hopefully all not for profit organizations should be following as stewards of public donations.

A true foundation is not covered by untruths. You are Taking advantage of what the organization was based of off and the original founder. Posting false information and leading people to believe that volunteers and Lisa are still apart of this to get people to donate $ is just plain wrong. Everyone in loved should be ashamed!

I am sorry there is not negative stars because I find that is what this group now’s deserves. Having volunteered from the start and founding of JITC when God lead a God fearing lady to start a nonprofit her mother dreamed of with visions of a village of Angels helping with this nonprofit I was one of the village in a group centered on Christian belief … then some felt there was no place for GOD in a group founded on GODLY PRINCIPAL… that is when I and many others withdrew from volunteering as the group we knew and lived no longer existed…. How I ask and a group of non believers come and spoil things for many others and have no thought about the fact they say they are doing what the founding mother started … please know Lisa Bain and many former volunteers are no longer involved … please remove photos of the many events that were prayed over as it’s sad to see what you don’t do pictured as you do…

The original founder, Lisa is NO longer with Joy in the Cause. Sadly, the board did not share her long term vision and definitely no longer share her values. Joy in the Cause continues to deceive people by using old videos and pictures with Lisa in them. This is a deceptive practice to lead people to continue to donate. BEWARE, Do not Donate to this NonProfit if you feel you are giving to a Mission with Lisa as the Leader.

I worked in the office of Joy In The Cause for 5 years. I also helped with events, community outreach and much more. I loved what I did. I quit a year ago or so. The higher ups decided to make it more of a business and less about building relationships. The new people that came in asked for staff and coordinators that had been there for years to turn in their keys and leave the premises. I saw what was an amazing non profit being taken over by hate and taking God out of the mission statement. I turned my keys in. They wanted to erase anyone who knew Lisa. A volunteer asked how to get a hold of Lisa and she was asked to leave.
They are still using her images and videos which is slander in my eyes. They have drug her through the mud. They wanted her gone so bad but want to make money off people thinking she is still there. These people are evil and using Lisa’s images to trick supporters and the public.
I don’t even recognize the non profit that I held so dear and volunteered for so many years.
Evil will be brought to the light.

Joy in the Cause is a life changing organization. I have seen it first hand. I was introduced to JITC years ago when my place of employment chose JITC as one of the charities they would be donating. It didn't take long before I was an official volunteer. It is said every day at JITC that Giving = Joy, Joy = Hope and Hope = Healing. How true it is! Giving though Joy in the Cause has been what keeps me going every day. It is a blessing to the receiver but to the giver as well. I work closely with senior heroes who are in nursing facilities. Many of these seniors never receive visits, and it is a joy to bring smiles to their lives. deliver care packages and fun activities, and witness what that joy does on a weekly basis. I am also involved in Joy to the Rescue Project Kids in Crisis and have seen thousands of backpacks delivered, helping these children who are facing some of the most heartbreaking situations. Joy in the Cause is the real deal. A place for giving, a place for receiving, a place where JOY lives and lives are changed.

We love Joy in the Cause. They have been awesome with my daughter Margaret. She was paralyzed from the neck down and on a ventilator from a car accident in 2009. We have spent many days in the hospital. She was a spunky, amazing daughter and brought smiles to everyone who met her. Sadly we lost her in May 2019 unexpectedly. She loved her Mavis dogs. Her oldest sister and her had fun with arguing over how to say the name. Erin now has one of Margaret’s Mavis dogs to comfort her while dealing with the loss of her sister. Thank you for all you do.

Last year I got to see what Joy in the Cause was doing by attending a business luncheon. It was so powerful to listen to first responders talk about how Joy in the Cause helps make normally stressful and difficult situations a little bit easier.

Fast forward a few months and we actually had a booth for our non-profit near them during the fair. I got to meet Lisa and Skipper and learn more about what Joy in the Cause is doing for our community.

I even got to see first hand when one of my co-worker's families was in a car wreck and he told me all about how their backpacks helped brought his girl's comfort, in normally a time of stress and fear.

Fast forward a little bit more and I was able to go to their first Tuesday of the month and volunteer. Let me tell you it was so incredible to see over 150 people come up after work on a Tuesday night to volunteer their time. It was so touching to see first hand how much work and joy that goes into making each bag, blanket, Mavis, etc. Watching how it brought families and friends together as everyone did a different task, getting to see all the children get excited as they dress up different Mavis Pearls.

Joy in the Cause has also been extremely helpful to the Tulsa Police Department Foundation and just donated 100 Mavis Bulldogs for our Random Acts of Kindness coming up next week. They also do so much for our Fire Department and Police Department.

I work for a different non-profit that helps bridge the gap between our community and law-enforcement and Joy in the Cause continues to go above and beyond for our organization.

I became familiar with Joy In The Cause at an event they provided backpacks for in August, 2018. I learned of their love and care for seniors as my Mother was terminally ill with several illnesses and asked if they would send her a care package. The package was beautiful and you could feel the love that was put into the care package she received. After personally meeting Lisa and becoming more familiar with their outreach and love for the community, I found myself in awe of their commitment to helping people feel good in all kinds of situations and decided to become a volunteer for their organization. I cannot praise Lisa, Skipper, and the entire organization for their loving and ongoing touch in our community. I am so incredibly grateful to have become close with them and look forward to my ongoing future with this amazing and outstanding organization. ❤❤

Joy in the Cause is an amazing organization. They help so many people, in so many ways. The lives they touch are forever affected by the LOVE, PRAYERS, and GIIFTS of JOY , they receive from JITC . I was told one day by a teenager, that she still has the Mavis Pearl dog she received when lost as a 5 years old child. And how that dog gave her such comfort. On a personal level JITC has help one of my own family members who has battled Cancer 3 times. The care package she received meant the world to her. It gave her Joy and the push she needed to keep fighting the fight. I am happy to say she is Cancer free once again. I began volunteering for JITC this past year. It is such a wonderful feeling knowing, that I can give my time to such an amazing cause.

I love this organization so much!!! I’ve witnessed cancer patients receive hope and volunteers find their purpose. One unexpected blessing was watching my son share joy with special needs children. He was volunteering to bring hope to other kids and when we finished serving, all he could talk about was how much he loved it. He was given an opportunity to serve others and himself found the true meaning of JOY!

I’m a volunteer for Joy in the Cause and it amazes me how much they do for people in crisis. Lisa Bain has devoted her life in the cause to bring hope, compassion, and love to people. Thousands of care packages and backpacks go out every year, plus visits to the elderly and sick. The backpacks are given to children in crisis. So many times this is all they have that’s theirs. When they leave their home they leave everything behind. It’s so sad and these backpacks bring them comfort. They are filled with games, coloring books, socks, T-shirt's, lovey blankets and a Mavis Pearl stuffed doggie. Joy In The Cause is an awesome non profit organization.

Lisa and the many volunteers with Joy in the Cause are truly some of the most giving and selfless people I know. This organization encourages every volunteer to identify what their passion is for giving back and then utilizing that passion in a way that will bring them joy and happiness.

Joy in the Cause has developed into a non-profit that provides moments of hope and happiness for a child being removed from a dangerous or scary situation to an elderly person who is struggling with loneliness and loss to a cancer patient who is scared and exhausted from the fight.

By utilizing her personal story and her bulldog, Mavis Pearl, Lisa is a shining light of what can happen when you take your hardest moments, trust in God, and let angels do their work and she inspires those around her to do the same.

This is truly a nonprofit that is 100% focused on how each moment a human being interacts with another can bring joy and love to this world.

I work as a paramedic in Tulsa. Joy in the cause has provided our agency with backpacks and stuffed Mavis dogs to give to children in situations a child should never be in. Because of those gifts, we are able to bring comfort and joy to children. It also helps us as providers to give the very best care to little patients. An ambulance can be a scary place for a kid but when they have that little pup to snuggle, it makes such a difference! In April of 2014 I attended a Joy In The Cause fundraiser. Wow! I was so touched that I became a volunteer. Over the years I have served in different areas with Joy In The Cause and have been so blessed. What an amazing caring organization. They have reached so many hurting families and have brought joy when it’s hard to find Joy. I have spent time watching football with a gentleman in his last days when he had no one. What an honor. I have had the opportunity to give out care packages to cancer patients and bless so many families who faced a long journey in healing or coming to peace with only a few months or weeks to live.
At one point my own family was in a life changing journey. My son had to have his colon taken out. He was only 32 with a wife and 4 kids. I suddenly became one of the people they cared about.
There are backpacks that go in the first responders vehicle. Sometimes this is the only thing the kids have to take to a temporary place because life happens and parents don’t care or maybe that parent has had their own struggles.
We have fixed up rooms in a Woman’s shelter where the women come sometimes with nothing but themselves and their children.
I have seen volunteers and the leaders give their time, their love and their money over and over.
The founders and the board are very well respected and also volunteer many many hours.
I’m honored to be a volunteer for this 5 star non-profit.

This is the absolutely best organization I have ever been part of. This is the kindest, most focused, hardworking, sharing, caring and loving group of people I have volunteered for in my 20 years of community service. The focus of this organization is not on any one cause but they consider any cause that needs their help. They work with very little equipment/supplies and can always use donations. I became a volunteer after seeing them in action in a treatment room full of cancer patients. They energized that room full of patients!! But they work with many organizations and individual needs. They are an amazing non-profit to be part of and I am so thankful to be able to do so much community service through my association with them.

Joy In The Cause is more than just a nonprofit. It's a group of Individuals who are truly making a difference for families and patients in Oklahoma needing assistance during tough times. Thank you, to all who donate to this nonprofit - your donations end up helping various individuals all over Oklahoma. For example young families who have young children losing a parent to cancer, folks going through the unknown during chemo treatments, unique transportation solutions for patients like myself unable to ride in a normal assisted transportation vehicle. Volunteers who go beyond the expected to find solutions for patients needing help in difficult situations. They do this with JOY. It's an amazing nonprofit, and if I had the health to volunteer, then I certainly would because they are honestly bringing joy to families in difficult times. The help they provide does not remove grief, but it does provide a joyful memory, and possibly a unique solution to a unique need. Thanks to Joy In The Cause for ALL you do! Thanks to all the volunteers and businesses who contribute funds to this great ( agency) community of volunteers making special (joyful) things happen in tough (painful) times. When a day ends, it is gone forever, but it leaves something behind - Joy In the Cause is leaving joy and goodness behind in a vast number of lives.

Joy in the Cause’s program Joy to the Rescue: Project Kids in Crisis has single-handedly helped local first responders especially law enforcement help reach out to children, teens, and young adults during traumatic situations. As a Police Officer with the Bixby Police Department, I have had the opportunity to personally hand the Joy in the Cause backpacks to young children during horrible situations. Those backpacks are filled with essential items along goodies to make any kid smile, like their very own Mavis Pearl stuffed doggie. Joy in the Cause has truly changed my life in so many ways. A few months back, I had the opportunity to go with Lisa Bain on a hope visit. We spent several hours at the cancer treatment facility loving on chemo patients and bringing hope to them on a very dark day. The saying it is better to give than receive couldn't be more true. Meeting those precious people and watching their faces light up as we gifted them Mavis Pearl dogs and quilts that had been prayed over was truly remarkable. I left feeling so full of joy knowing that I had just been a part of something life-changing for those people. Joy in the Cause is like no other charity I have ever been a part of. This organization brings hope and love to so many people in their most desperate times of need. I cannot say enough about what I have seen first-hand and how they change so many lives just by showing up with a smile and a gift bag or backpack. My husband is a police officer and he has had the opportunity to gift children a backpack when they needed it most. Being in law enforcement, he sees terrible things and so do I as a news reporter. We often meet people on the worst day of their life and so do volunteers with Joy in the Cause. In a hurting world, they are making such a difference and I cannot say enough about Lisa and Mavis and everyone at Joy in the Cause. I now proudly serve on the board of directors for this organization and I would recommend it to anyone.

Long story short, within 1 week of knowing I had cancer, I was in surgery to have part of my colon removed. 1 month after that, Inwas having a port put in to start chemo.

I have to say life as a I knew it was over. I was 34 married to my wonderful wife and a dad of 7 great kiddos. As a police officer, I know any day could be my last due to the risks of the job. However, this scared me! I was truly afraid of the cancer and the chemo. I didn’t want to die, I was to young.

The day came to start chemo. I told my wife as we walked in “this will be the last doctor office I will ever visit” The nurse who stabbed my port and missed several times was not making this a good day. After I was hooked up to the chemo, my wife told me there was a dog in our area! I was half out of it and I told her that’s great! I am a dog lover, they always bring peace to me!

By the time I got to meet Lisa, and Ms. Mavis Pearl, I was not very coherent. Later, my wife explained to me why Lisa and Mavis were there. I woke up later that evening with a stuffed Mavis Pearl dog with a checkered flag scarf. (I love race cars)

I know, I know, big bad cop with a stuffed animal! Lol. I will tell you this that little stuffed animal, or Ms. Pearl stunt double! (That’s manly right?) lol. Gave me peace and comfort while I battled chemo an fought my battle with cancer! That 1 little jester gave mehope to win and live.

Chemo was the worst part of my battle! The surgeries were no sweat compared to the chemo and it’s side effects! Every time I look at my Ms. Pearl stunt double, I felt at peace and someone out there actually cared about us cancer warriors! (Patient is negative to me, who ever battled or is battling cancer is a true warrior!)

The prayers, and support I got from Joy in the Cause still has me speechless. A complete stranger (Ms. Lisa) went out of her way to give personal attention of prayer and comfort for 1 person (me) to reassure me my life was not over!!

Joy in the Cause does this for not just only me, but everyone! Thank you Lisa, Mavis, and Joy in the Cause for all that you do!

I am a survivor of domestic violence. I was married for 24 years all of the sudden a single mom of a wonderful 14 year old at the time. My days consisted of getting my son up for school climbing back in bed and staying there until he got home. I was suffering from deep depression and also PTSD.
In August of 2015 I got out of bed and went to a volunteer meeting. I never knew how life changing that day would be for me. Lisa’s Mom used to tell her everyone has a purpose until their last breath. I had lost my purpose and Joy. I have been a part of this wonderful organization for over two years now. From helping at events, to help passing out backpacks, to meeting people and sharing my story. To be there when people are at their darkest hours, and helping them find their purpose, helping them heal. I’m just so honored to be a part of this organization.

Joy in the Cause is more than a non-profit organization or a place to volunteer, it is where Hope is restored and Joy is found. Founders, Skipper and Lisa Bain, devote their personal time and finances to help those in need in our community, from Kids in Crisis to Joy in the Cause volunteers to our senior citizen heroes. The office is filled with stories of healing and staffed by volunteers who have all been impacted personally by Joy in the Cause. Many of the volunteers suffer from life-altering illness and yet find that by giving back their time and talents they are personally impacted more than they could ever imagine.
Seeing Mavis Pearl, bulldog ambassador, in action as a therapy dog extrodinaire is quite a blessing as well. She brings love and smiles wherever she goes, and always knows the just right person in the room who needs her special brand of love. Lisa Bain takes special care to attend hospice visits when requested, and has been privledged to be present at the last moments of so many precious lives, singing them Home.
The reach and scope of the people and community who are aided by Joy in the Cause keeps growing each year, and the newest project, Joy to the Rescue, is now state-wide, helping domestic violence survivors, kids in crisis from trauma, young mothers in therapy, families suffering life-altering situations, and so many more. Seeing the smiles on the young faces of kids who recieve a backpack, somehow knowing that their little Mavis Pearl dog will make it all better, is one of the more rewarding experiences in life.
Joy in the Cause is making a difference in our community. They care, they love unconditional, and they are doing good for the sake of helping others, everyday. God bless Joy in the Cause!

Joy in the Cause is a light that shines in the dark places. I've seen so many lives changed, both those hurting or sick, and people volunteering (looking for a purpose). Joy in the Cause provides hope and healing to so many. They bring communities together for a unified purpose to help those who are hurting. Lisa Bain and the volunteers in this organization have servants hearts and they are ready and willing to help whenever needed. If you are looking for a place where you can help others and, in return, receive overflowing joy, this is the organization to join!!

During the time I was looking for an organization to volunteer for my husband met Lisa Bain and came home and told me all about this organization called Joy In The Cause, I have been so blessed being a volunteer for the last 14 mos. My husband is a medical pilot, he has amazing stories of the comfort these dogs give to the children during horrific pain they're enduring. Since I have been a volunteer, I'm amazed of how many people I have spoke with, including my neighbor that have been touched by these magnificent dogs that have helped them in the most devastating times in their lives. I have never met a more loving and giving group of people that have nothing but love and joy in their hearts to help so many people in need during a rough time.

I became a volunteer for JITC around two years ago, I did this to honor my friend who was involved with this organization. She passed away with ovarian cancer after a long battle, this organization brought her more Joy during this time. JITC has done more for me than I have for them, best bunch of caring volunteers and leaders I have ever met. I am so blessed to be a small part and watching the love and prayers and help pouring out to people in need. Everyone needs JOY in their life.

The best charity ever. My husband was diagnosed w Chronic Myeloid leukemia almost 6 yrs ago. Lisa and Mavis came to do a home visit and brought a care package w a boy Mavis dog and littke girl one for me. Mavis played w our 2 dogs and she Lisa had just lost her own mother a few weeks before visiting us. Instead of staying at home she was out giving love and spreading Joy to us in a very hard time for us. It truly was like medicine, like a shot in the arm of encouragement for us. This is the most heartfelt loving charity ever :) the gift cards too were such a blessing as we hadn't been out much to eat. And we were so grateful we decided for me to want to volunteer even though I had my own health challenges at times. Lisa and Skipper are some of the finest people we know. I decided to become a volunteer and in the 2 years I have been volunteering, I have been so blessed and my life changed so much it is amazing! They have gone above and beyond to help First Responders like me be able to help children in crisis situations. I have seen firsthand when Officers and First Responders in these situations see the relief on children's faces when opening up one of these backpacks. The smiles on their faces helps us "break the ice" and makes going through their situations a little easier. It has made an immense impact in getting kids the help they need while going through a traumatic event!

Six months ago I had to have a medical procedure that left me unable to work, drive, cook or barely even walk for 6 weeks. I was in a lot of pain and had to have constant care for the first few weeks. Not only did it affect me, but my husband and family as well. Joy In The Cause, and specifically Lisa Bain, was an angel sent by God to me and my family. One day, on a day that was particularly difficult, Lisa came to my door with a bag filled with Joy! There were gift cards for food, a personally crafted quilt for warmth, a Mavis Pearl stuffed animal for comfort and a check for necessities and to help with the cost of lost pay checks. I am just one of many many people whose lives have been touched and greatly helped by Joy In The Cause in their hour of need. This organization is such an asset and a huge blessing to so many in our community. They truly do bring Joy in each and every cause because "your cause matters". They are life changing!

Where do I begin, Joy in the Cause is one of the most amazing groups I have ever had the pleasure of knowing! I proudly would do anything I could for this organization. They have done so much for us, my son in particular. He needed a therapy/service dog and we couldn't possibly make it happen on our own and without a second thought Lisa said, "let us help" and that is exactly what they did. This dog has only been part of our family for two weeks and has already had a profound impact on my 7 year old leukemia survivor. After 3.5 years of chemotherapy he has some long term side effects including chronic knee pain, memory issues and a ptsd of sorts. Stella vanilla (the puppy) ) has given him confidence exponentially visible to our family and to the school. You see, BW tested for the gifted and talented (GnT) program at his school, and he was accepted after passing test with flying colors! When I talked to him about how proud his daddy and I both are he said well mom, I had to be smart for Stella so I can train her! Stella is changing our lives and we have Joy in the Cause to thank for that! This organization has heart that many lack. This is the cream de la cream!

As a volunteer with Joy In The Cause, I absolutely LoVe everything about this organization! It was news stories about the "furry face" of JITC, Mavis Pearl, that first caused me to first notice JITC and the joy they are spreading throughout our community. But it wasn't until I visited the website, and began reading the story behind how Joy In The Cause began, that my heart truly and fully became vested in the mission -- to spread JOY. It's that simple. Joy to our senior heroes in nursing facilities; Joy to those in the chemo treatment centers; Joy to the children fighting diseases; Joy to the families whose loved ones are on hospice care; Joy to our veterans; Joy to anyone who needs it; Joy. Pure and simple.

And the mission is catching on! So many companies and organizations are realizing how special it is to share Joy In The Cause {whatever the Cause may be}, and they're not only donating funds but volunteering their time and talents!!

It's so exciting to be part of something so special!! What's the Cause near and dear to your heart? At JITC, your Cause matters!!

My 9 year old daughter and I started making tutus in early 2015 and shortly after my brother was diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. JITC was a bright light in such a dark place for our family. They provided stuffed Mavis dogs for my niece and offered support, prayers and life-long friendships were made. I work with the International Organization for Rainbow for Girls. Every six months a young lady picks a new service project to work with. One of my girls picked Joy In The Cause. It was by far the best experience for our girls. They raised money for the stuffed Mavis dogs and were able to personally deliver these dogs to patients at the cancer center. The girls also made tutu's for the Mavis dogs. Lisa was very positive influence on the girls and tons of fun. The girls learned just how much it means to work towards a goal and then they saw exactly how the money they raised for Joy In The Cause was spent. Lisa and Skipper worked well with my pre-teens and teenagers. They both made them feel very important and even though their monitory donation was not as large as some they were treated like royalty. Lisa personally has worked with our girls and made them feel important to the cause. This organization spreads love, support and most of all Joy to everyone it helps. After our 6 months was up with sponsoring Joy In the Cause the girls continue to work making supplies for Mavis Dogs and even sponsoring care packages, gas cards, and hopefully in the future more Mavis Dogs.

I've been blessed in SO many ways since meeting Lisa and getting involved with Joy In The Cause...how long have you got?
When I lost yet another friend to cancer I was proud when her daughter and niece became volunteers and fundraisers for several cancer related non for profits in Tulsa. I loved watching them grow as individuals through helping fight what has taken so many loved ones. When they started sharing stories about Lisa and her 'Star of the Show' dog Mavis Pearl the sparkle in their eye was infectious. I live in Arkansas and they in Oklahoma but when invited to help, I pulled out my sewing machine, wore Google and YouTube out trying to channel the high school me who earned an A+ on her senior sewing protect but hadn't sewed a stitch to sequel about since! When Lisa sent a photo of the little girl fighting cancer , hugging a Mini' Mavis wearing a dress I'd made, the feeling in my soul was unmatchable. I had to retire early due to my own health and am restricted to being at home most of my days...but at last I could 'Help' again.
Through her own illness and the loss of her mother Lisa has created and taken Joy In The Cause to so many. Touching all she meets so deeply, sincerely, in such a lasting way, she is nothing less than inspiring in my own life. From children who've lost a parent, those with special needs, senior citizen who think they're lost and forgotten, when the Joy in The Cause gang walk in and start sharing their gifts of cookies, gift cards, books and best of all their own hand dressed Mavis Pearl dog, the gratitude, the long lost smiles, the tears of JOY for being remembered, you can see it swell, you can feel it grow from them all. It's amazing! It's impossible to have a bad day when you've spent it with this group and pretty hard not to be glowing a week later, still walking around with a smile.
My son was hospitalized with congestive heart failure I spent over 2 weeks camped in his room. My worry was inconsolable and my wallet was beyond empty. I was weary and worn reaching for any last string of strength, a mother shows no fear to a their ill child you see. I was alone and on empty, then Lisa found out what was happening. Suddenly I looked up and like the brightest burst of sunshine and she arrived with a bag full of JOY and my spirits revival. From cupcakes to clothing to hugs of support the bag she brought out seemed bottomless. How I needed the t-shirts, the warmth of the sweatshirt and the smile I saw again, when she pulled out a quilt laying over my boy in his bed...I felt my strength refilling. There was a Visa card for gas and grocery's, a gift card to Olive Garden who even delivered to the hospital giving us the best dinner I've ever shared with my son when he was finally able to eat again. I slept wrapped in that blanket the whole second week, receiving the prayers I knew were sewn in with each stitch . I felt the support, I found again, my strength. On the way home, that Visa card also helped fill the very expensive prescriptions he was given. My son saw the kindness, felt it's 'meaning' and smiled, reviving my soul again. I am proud of my connection with JITC as well as grateful.
I know JoyInTheCause has touched many lives, I believe JITC has truly saved at least 1! A lifelong friend of mine suffers from sever depression to the point she's tried to end her life. Deep in despair and darkness I begged her to reach out, to do something for someone else, get her 'out' of herself. She started making tutu's for the stuffed Mavis pups. In the last 40 years I've never seen her so involved in such a light giving, happiness making, support sharing group. Lisa, Mavis Pearl and JITC has changed her life....again, I am so grateful...I am so blessed, I have deeply touched and forever changed.

I first contacted Joy in the Cause for help promoting brain cancer funding when my son was diagnosed in February. At that time, we were told he would most likely be heading to MD Anderson for treatment because Tulsa does not treat pediatric brain tumors for the most part. Lisa, whom I have never met, immediately sent a care package out for all my children, including the beloved Mavis Pearl dogs and sheets for my son for his hospital bed. We were overwhelmed by her generosity, especially from a complete stranger. When we recently went to Cleveland for a 2nd opinion, she again sent a box with travel games and gift cards for restaurants. I cannot tell you how much this has meant to us as a family and especially as a mother to see my kids so excited to receive a little something to let them know that someone is cheering them on and praying for their brother. Cancer affects the entire family and Joy In the Cause is there to help ease the burden by brightening people's day!

He was off of treatment for 6 months, then we found out that he relapsed in December 2014 and would be undergoing a more aggressive chemo through May 2016. We met Lisa in January 2015 when we were referred to her by our good friend, Susan. She brought our family the most awesome care package and the kids LOVED meeting Mavis Pearl. It was definitely a bright spot for our family at a time when it was really needed. Lisa Bain is one of the kindest, most generous women you will ever meet. My daughter was diagnosed with cancer when she was 15 years old. Joy In The Cause (JITC) provided care packages, numerous visits, and consistently called and emailed to check on us throughout our lengthy treatment. Joy In The Cause provided us so much joy in a very dark time, a time where we felt very alienated, JITC was consistent and supportive.
This organization is not like anything I had ever seen. Many people fall in the gap and don't meet the requirements for other charities, but JITC is able to provide blessings to those people. Joy In The Cause stands in the gap and lives are changed as a result.
Our journey with cancer was life changing and our future now includes JITC because it is part of our new family. My daughter and I are active volunteers for JITC because we believe in the mission of JITC.

My daughter was 14.5 when she was diagnosed with T-Cell Leukemia. This was a devastating day for our family. Holly spent many days of her summer in and out of the hospital. Some of those stays were boring, lonely, and a few quite frightening. That's where we met Lisa Bain. She came to visit us. She brought Holly a stuffed Mavis Pearl dog, a gift card, and a contagious smile. Holly's spirits were lifted and our stay just wasn't as bad that time. We have been on this journey for three years. Holly is now 17.5 and 10 months off treatment. We are now spreading joy to other pediatric/teen cancer patients through Joy in the Cause because no one fights cancer alone.

Our daughter was diagnosed with cancer when she was fourteen and a half. Lisa visited many times to bring care packages to our family during long weeks while our daughter received chemo. The packages were full of gift cards and words of encouragement. Our favorite part was the great headbands and goofy glasses, games and things to keep us focused on Bella's battle. Mavis Pearl and Lisa also made home visits, bring insurmountable joy, smiles, and joy jumps. When our daughter passed away a year and a half later, Joy in the Cause remained to support and pray for us, reminding us to live in the moment, spread joy, and help others to heal so you in turn can begin the journey to healing. Joy in the Cause has touched the lives of thousands of people and we are blessed to be a part of their legacy.
