Mission: To provide high quality, no cost social services focusing on the rehabilitation of the underprivileged population in the community who suffer from the disease of alcoholism and substance abuse.
Programs: J24 currently utilizes a two family home in the Corona section of Queens to house and provide services to its clients. Clients are provided with crisis intervention, counseling, referrals, food, shelter and clothing until they are ready to be reintegrated into the community. J24 also maintains a telephone hotlines that are in operation 24 hours a day. Our staff of volunteers run our operations 24 hours a day allowing individuals to access our services anytime of the day and night. Clients as well as members of the community attend group therapy meetings, which are offered 24 hours a day. We also conduct outreach activities in the community as well as the transmittal of information via newspapers, local radios, program brochure and flyers.The current program is composed of 2 components, Phase I and II. During Phase I of the program clients are provided with housing, food and clothing for a 3-month period while they attend in-house group therapy meetings, workshops/lecture series and are provided with a strong foundation for their recovery based on the principles of a 12 Step Program. The services for Phase I are free of charge to the individual and his or her family and are given in Spanish and English. After completion of Phase I clients are offered the opportunity to begin Phase II of the program in which the client is offered a halfway house where they are allowed to begin working in the community while they live and attend meetings in the program. Upon completion of Phase II clients are ready to return to their families or find housing on there own thus completing the reintegration of the client into the community.
