JERAS is a wonderful nonprofit which runs on a shoestring budget but yet does a much needed work with animals that have been neglected and abused. I have known Catherine Ritlaw for over 45 years and she loves animals but also is a trained vet tech. She provides the best medical care and a nurturing safe environment for them. Please consider a donation as 100% of the monies go for upkeep and care.
I have known Catherine for over 50 years and she has always been a caring and well-educated animal guardian. Despite her own health limitations, i have seen where there's nothing that Catherine can't do to rescue and care for those animals that
were mal-treated, abandoned, or those that have special needs. Journey's End Ranch is a well run special place, a sanctuary which provides excellent medical care.
I don't know a person that lives for her animals more than Catherine. Not a day goes by where she hasn't at least checked in with us to show us the progress of a new addition to her ranch .. a video of her favorite moments with the horses and the many inhabitants together .. Her devotion to them is beyond love .. i hope you get to experience this wonderful woman's newsletters and pages .. it's a most worthy effort .. ~~
I have been following Catherine and her work with the animals at Journeys End Ranch for a number of years now. Knowing her has been wonderful, but the work she does is remarkable. Viewing her pictures and videos every day, of all the different life there, with names for all, brings you closer to how she cares for and loves them all.
It tells you a lot about Journey's End Ranch Animal Sanctuary, when even wild animals find their way to JERAS knowing they have found a safe haven. Cathrine Ritlow has a magical way with animals and they love her. So do those of us who support her efforts to give comfort, care and love to all who make their way to Journey's End Ranch Animal Sanctuary.
Cathy has a way with animals that is magic. Even with her own health problems, the care "The Gang" recieves is all about them living a happy, healthy life. Even the wild animals know where to go, when they need help.
I have known Cathy Ritlaw and JERAS for many years. I have always been impressed with the love and care she gives her rescue animals. It’s a blessing for any animal to live out their years with her.
Cathy runs a wonderful sanctuary for "throw away" animals. She is a one-woman grassroots powerhouse and JERAS is a beacon of light in dark times.
JERAS is an outstanding grass-roots organization. Cathy's care and attention to her charges, whether rescued stallion or, even, the local wild rabbits is a breath of fresh air in our troubled times. She does it all with little outside help but with the great appreciation of her community and supporters.
I love the work that Catherine does at this rescue/sanctuary. I have even traveled from Colorado to Arizona to visit in person. Her treatment of the animals and her appreciation for beauty is inspiring. I choose my causes carefully, and journey's end ranch and sanctuary is a non-profit very worthy of support!
Wonderful rescue doing amazing work. I visited there about two years ago as I wanted to meet "Poco the brave little burro" in person. It was a long drive from CO but so well worth it. I loved meeting all the animals and Cathy as well. If you can donate to this cause please do.
A wonderful sanctuary for animals! The owner takes great care of all of the animals. Catherine puts her heart and soul into taking care of the rescued animals. I continue to donate through my online sales and photos and updates are always available.
I continue to donate thru paypal giving with a portion of my Ebay sales because this is a great sanctuary and Catherine keeps me informed of what is going on daily. She puts her heart and soul into JERAS.
Thank you, Nancy! Your help is greatly appreciated!
thank you, you are a great help!
Catherine Ritlaw has devoted her life to the care of abused and neglected animals. She does a wonderful job with the animals in her care. The animals always come first.
Not much to tell about me, personally. I follow JERAS on Facebook and try to be as supportive as I can. I am in awe of what Catherine Ritlaw is doing there.
Way up on my list of favorite nonprofits to support. Cathy has struggles with her own health, but never seems to keep her from taking wondrous care of the animals she is able to rescue and care for on Journey's End Ranch Animal Sanctuary.
This sanctuary is very awesome in caring for the burros and horses in their location. Much love
Journeys End Ranch Animal Sanctuary is one of the well known rescues in the Kingman area. Cathy takes wonderful care of all her animals. She is always sending pictures of them, including the bunnies, ravens, road runners, you name it - she cares for all of them. I do so enjoy her newsletter - she has videos on it, and lets everyone know what is going on there. There is a little Burro named Poco - and he basically tells us what's going on too.
Catherine is the most giving, loving and amazing person and does it all herself with a little help from her friends..day in and day out rain or shine. I look forward to her posts everyday to see how her gang is doing and how she is doing. I love her videos when she talks to her burrows and they talk back or sing. She is non stop LOVE.
Thank you Catherine..the world would not be the same without you!
I have followed Cathy for years and watched and read about all the wonderful work that she does basically by herself with the help when needed of vets and of course donations which are always needed to provide food and medical care and she provides the love and safety for the neglected, abandoned, abused animals in her care..my favorite being Poco, The Brave Little Burro. I love seeing and reading the updates on all her family of rescues and also the troops of birds, mice, bunnies and others that she provides with food and water. She is an angel on earth..that is for sure and only wish there were many many more just like her! Thank you Catherine for all that you do!!
JERAS is the best run sanctuary that I know. Cathy Ritlaw finds the most cost effective methods but never at the risk of an animal’s health.
Cathy Ritlaw continues to amaze me with her tenacity in protecting horses and burros, and all animals. She strives everyday to research as much as possible on the real needs of these animals, ensuring they live out their years with her, healthy and as joyful as possible. That she does this in spite of some of the worst possible health issues makes her truly commendable.
She is my hero and I’m so glad to have her and JERAS in my life.
This is a sanctuary for abused horses and donkeys where they are given love, dignity and respect from a lady who is not well herself. She goes over and above their care even when she has days of illness. All the horses and donkeys are very well taken care of, any problems with their health are taken care of forthwith. If I had to put my horses and donkeys somewhere, this is the only place I would take them as I know they would live their life to the fullest and with the care they deserve
I am so proud to be associated with JERAS. The horses and donkeys are so well taken care of by a lady who has multiple health problems, but puts her charges ahead of her problems. If my horses and donkeys needed to go somewhere I would send them here as I know they would be taken care of like the horses and donkeys that are already there with dignity respect and love
What an excellent rescue. Journey's End gives excellent care to several horses and burros, all done by one remarkable woman, Catherine Ritlaw. She has suffered for years with ill health, but she battles through to give not only the horses and burros such great care, she also takes care of a sheep, a couple of rabbits and very recently a dog that was virtually unadoptable. She's such a kind hearted lady that she also feed the local wildlife. Cathy keeps all her followers up to date with a monthly news letter and daily videos of all the animals under her care and I am a very proud supporter of her sanctuary.
365 days a year Journey's End Ranch looks after many horses and burros, and two sheep to make sure they are well cared for! One woman does this, and even though she suffers ill health, she some how manages to see to all their needs!
I stumbled upon Journeys End a few years ago via FB. And through Poco's story became a follower/donor. Catherine provides a forever home for seniors, possibly the hardest group to place. With large pastures, special feed and care, these animals get to live out the rest of their lives surrounded by love. Catherine does extensive research to provide the best care possible. Journeys End is on my list of places to visit as soon as I retire!!
I have known Catherine Ritlaw for over nine years. As a matter of fact, she really is the person who helped get me started in animal advocacy. Journey's End is a true safe, loving haven for horses and donkeys and all animals that are in need of help....even to the crow that sits on the fence, or the rabbit that needs a helping hand. It is so wonderful to see her experience as a vet tech help her be able to give these animals a home for life....true sanctuary....
Journey's End is truly the end of a journey for many, many animals that would not have otherwise made it. Catherine Ritlaw, a former vet tech, is able to give them stellar care, lots of love, and truly cares about their wellbeing. When there is an animal in pain, or in need of rescue and a safe, forever home, Journey's End and Catherine are there for them whenever it is humanly possible. I recommend this charity with no hesitation....
Journeys End Ranch Animal Sanctuary does a magnificent job of helping animals that have been abused or discarded. I have seen the huge difference in so many different animals as they have been giving proper food, health care and love. Catherine Ritlaw devotes all her energy, finances, and knowledge to care for these animals no one wanted.
JERAS is an excellent sanctuary. The owner, Catherine Ritlaw, is very knowledgeable about equids, their anatomy, physiology, and the treatments needed to maintain or enhance their lives.
Our organization has worked with JERAS for over five years. We have been to the ranch, seen the condition of the facility and equine in their care. Catherine Ritlaw does a fabulous job of caring for the horses and donkeys at the rescue, does not over extend what they are capable of doing and puts the needs of the rescue first. A true rescue in every sense of the word.
Thank you so much, Christine!!
We have worked with Cathy and her rescue for six years now and we are glad to have such a great relationship with a rescue that provides the best care for their horses and burros. Cathy gives her life to these animals and it shows. I hold her in the highest regard and am blessed to call her my friend.
This sanctuary is run single-handedly by a woman who has a deep abiding love for animals.
I have known Cathy for over 50 years and even as a child she cared deeply and rescued animals in an urban environment. Since operating the Sanctuary, she has taken in numerous "lost causes" and has nurtured and cared for them so that they may live out their life in a happy, safe place. She works hard everyday to ensure that all of the animals in her care get the best treatment. She is the best!
This is a wonderful sanctuary where the animals are cared for by a knowledgeable devoted woman. Catherine Ritlaw has been devoted rescuing animals since a very young age. I know first hand as she had a menagerie at times in our apartment in the Bronx. If you look at the before and after pictures of the animals she has rescued you can clearly see that she is fierce in her determination that these animals live out their lives with the best food , shelter and tender loving care .
This beautiful sanctuary in Arizona is a haven for these beautiful souls. Catherine posts beautiful stories and updates about all the animals and her devotion and love for them is there for all to see. Such a beautiful place.
Thank you, Lisa!
This is a wonderful rescue. The animals are loved and well taken care of. Watching them run around you can feel their happiness. A beautiful sight to see. Their journey has definitely come to a peaceful and happy ending in a beautiful, tranquil sanctuary. Thank you to Journeys End Ranch Animal Sanctuary for giving these beautiful animals a home.
I have been following Catherine and her work for a few years. The care she gives these rescued animals is the best. The stories she shares about them makes me feel like I really know them. If you have a question she responds quickly sharing her knowledge.
I first heard about Journeys End Animal Sanctuary when Poco the burro was caught by BLM and taken there. I've been following his story and those of the other animals living there for about a year. It's obvious these animals are loved and cared for. Very lucky animals indeed.
I have been following Cathy and JERAS for about 3 years now. Knowing Cathy's health, I am amazed and encourage by her stamina to keep going. What I have learned seeing how she reacts to situations involving all her animals, coming up with results to solve problems that arise almost every minute of her days. The Love she has for even the little wild critters that hang out around her ranch, as much as she has for the bigger animals. One Amazing Woman
Catherine does such an amazing job, taking extraordinary care of her residents despite her own health challenges. She also thinks outside the box, such as the time she needed to soak a hoof abscess on a horse that is untouchable. She actually dug a shallow hole, lined it with plastic and put the soaking solution in it, so that when the horse was eating he was positioned just right with his hoof in the hole, soaking away! I would have never thought of that! Her daily stories and updates make you feel like you're right there and actually know the horses and burros. I'm from far away MA, but I know those horses' and burros' stories and personalities thanks to Catherine's updates. I donate freely, knowing that my money is going to the sanctuary and not in some middle-man's pockets. She gives these animals a wonderful life of full bellies, healthy bodies, freedom and love - what more could they ask for?
Thank you, Andrea!
Catherine continues to do a phenomenal job with all her animals, many of them abused and neglected before coming to the ranch. Under her care and expertise, they are able to heal and live their lives with excellent care. Catherine is able to do a lot with a little as far as funds and donations. This nonprofit is a wonderful example of what truly a nonprofit should be.
I have been a nonprofit administrator for 30 plus years and have known Catherine for that long plus some. She has tirelessly devoted her life to animals and now with Journeys End Ranch, she takes those that are the tough cases, the ones that others don't want. She does all this by herself as she must live solitary due to an extreme allergy condition. She takes no salary and keeps overhead to a minimum. She is a trained vet tech and can provide excellent medical attention. I highly recommend JERAS as an excellent nonprofit.
Catherine is wonderful ,please help in anyway you can, cash, hay, buy her wonderful book , about a POKO the burro with a deformed leg she rescued. She care & helps all animals . Heres a pic of DAKOTA- a 25 Y.O. MUSTANG SHE RESCUED.
When you look for a rescue or sanctuary, you look for someone you can Trust. Trust to use your donations wisely, trust to care for the animals in their care and trust to continue making great decisions for the rescue. Catherine Ritlaw and JERAS has my complete Trust. So please donate to Jeras today.
There is something special about this place. The family of animals that live there and those who stop by everyday or once in a while are always welcome....Everyone knows that they can trust Catherine to care for their everyday needs and their special needs....you can stop by via Face Book anytime, and watch a video of any number of family members enjoying their lives, doing what they do, watching the progress of their lives as Catherine helps with their special needs, or just a glimpse into a life unlike your own...I have never been around horses or burros so I watch a lot, it is a small slice of heaven for me...so my suggestion is that you go and visit this wonderful place and support the great work that is done at JERAS.
Journey's End Ranch Animal Sanctuary is in my opinion the Best Animal Sanctuary on the planet. The Director, Catherine Ritlaw, takes care of over 25 animals all day long, all by herself, never complains, feeds, waters, trims hooves, builds shelters, day after day . She is truly an inspiration to all the rest of us who are trying to help animals. She is an Honest person and always just sticks to her job , rain or shine , day after day ~ year after year. If I was an animal who needed rescuing, I would want to go to Journey's End Ranch Animal Sanctuary. Most of her rescued animals truly were at the End of Their Journey, and would have died if they had not been rescued by Catherine Ritlaw, Director of Journey's End Ranch Animal Sanctuary.
Journey's End Ranch has helped our local boy Poco! They do a great job with their burros, horses and all!! So glad they are there to give all their critters the care and love they need!!
Although I have not personally had the pleasure of meeting Cathy and her wonderful four legged animals - I read her newsletter faithfully, and enjoy every video she takes of her babies out at Journey's End Ranch Animal Sanctuary. I am planning on visiting her in the next couple of months as she is local.

Just found this sanctuary last week, Cathy takes great care of these animals. She posts lots of pictures and videos, to show how the donations are spent.
I found this place on the INTERNET when a poor defenseless burro was reported injured but when finally captured had a deformity to his rear hoof. Had he not been rescued by caring people, the blm would have SHOT him. Cathy has given him a life deserving any animal in distress.
My hat is off to her and the group because if I was one of these animals, I would be so happy to end up in her care at " Journey's End Ranch! " The love and care is unconditional. They are always making improvements needed for a working rescue ranch. She is one to get the needs of her rescues before herself. I love this place and am eager to read the emails that come from her on the report on each animal, their progress etc. Kudos to Journey's End Ranch!
I have been a supporter of Journey's End Ranch for several years. I am so impressed by Cathy's hard work. Any animal that ends up under Cathy's care is lucky indeed. Her wonderful stories, photos and videos of her animals make it seem as if I know them all. Journey's End Ranch is a magical place!
Journey's End Ranch Animal Sanctuary is a wonderful rescue. Cathy does an amazing job caring for her numerous animals. She gives them the love and care they need and deserve. She has truly made a safe haven for them.
Thank you, Susan!
When I first stumbled upon this website while looking for something totally different last year, I was curious, but was about to click off it. But then I saw Poco! I forgot about my other quest, and dived into the website and fell in love with Poco and the gang. Catherine is one tough, amazing woman who has disabilities of her own, but saves the lives of abused and disabled horses and burros. I just had to start giving to her sanctuary monthly. Love to Cathy and the gang!!!
This a an amazing non profit dedicated to animals. That's the easy part. What you may not know is how the founder of JE, Catherine Ritlaw, is a friend to people too. She has probably saved as many humans as non -humans, but will never tell you as much. Please put your faith and tax deductible donations toward JE and make a difference!
If every Sanctuary was run the way Catherine runs hers it would be such a blessing to all the animals. Catherine gives the utmost care and love to each and every animal at her Sanctuary. Each animal has different needs and each of those needs are given 100%. An unconditional love for the animals is so heart warming. I also am very impressed with the transparency when it comes to this non-profit . Children could learn so much from the care she gives as well as any other person, again it is very heart warming. I could so see a book written about Catherine and Journeys End. Much admiration and respect to Catherine and a huge thank you for allowing me to see such a wonderful Sanctuary at work...
I have known Cathy for a few years and am a monthly donar to JERAS. Her stamina, care and compassion never ceases to amaze me. The rescue work she does for horses and burros who are usually on death's door with illness or in fear of being sent to slaughter is remarkable. I cannot count on one hand how many charities I donate to..but I know when I donate to JERAS...I have no doubt 100% is being used for the animals.
I have been following Journey's end ranch for several years. The animals that are saved that come here is marvelous. They are given a chance at life. If you can't visit them follow them on Facebook and see what a wonderful life saving place this is.
JERAS takes in any animal that needs help. She has a burro, pigs, horses, dogs, cats and others. It is amazing how Catherine and her ranch make the difference in life and death.
Journeys End Ranch Animal Sanctuary provides a permanent home for many animals that may have been euthanized or slaughtered simply because they had nowhere else to go.
Although Journey's End specializes in horses and burros, they did a wonderful job rehabbing an emotionally damaged dog that was rescued from a hoarder.
I have heard nothing but wonderful things about these people! Well run, and truly care about the animals.
What a great animal group. I have been a donor for a number of years. Catherine is a wonderful animal advocate and always has the best interest of the animals in mind. I am confident that the donations I have made over the years have always been used wisely. I highly, highly recommend JERAS.
I got to know Catherine & her rescues from FB. Everyone of them has improved in every way, i.e. health, happiness, fitness, etc. since she took them in. It truly is a haven for unwanted animals that need a loving home. Her dedication & devotion is matchless! If I were a horse or burro, for sure that's where I'd want to go!!!!!
The work that journeys end does is awesome so many animals have been saved by them truly one of the most exceptional places for equines to go we appreciate everything they do without them so many would be homeless or sent to slaughter
Journeys End Ranch Animal Sanctuary is doing an excellent job of helping take care of animals that are no longer wanted or cared for. This organization has a great group of volunteers who work tirelessly to care for horses and burros that no one else can help. I have donated and followed their efforts. Please consider making a donation. At the very least follow them on Facebook to see what they do.
I have been following this organization and they are great! They do really good work and deserve support.
I have been following the wonderful dedication, love, and care given to the animals at Journey's End Santuary. The little burro that found his way there against all odds, surviving 11 years in the wild despite a major birth defect... Now safe and loved.. Poco...the mighty survivor .. . A home at last... with a little friend Chico, by his side. It is so heartwarming to watch them play, safe and loved. Please watch the videos of the burros and horses happy at play, healthy, well cared for and in good health. Thank you, Catherine for your dedication and kindness and for blessing so many lives.
Its an amazing sanctuary with tons of love for all the animals
I follow and support Journeys End Ranch Animal Sanctuary and hope to visit soon. I have learned so much about saving animals, specifically horses from them. I live in the city but it warms my heart to know there are people like Catherine and places like Journeys End to provide sanctuary for animals in need. Bravo!
I have worked with Catherine over the years and she is a wonderful advocate for all animals of all types....
horses, dogs, cats, goats, you name it. She works tirelessly to make the world a better place. I highly recommend her
I do not know the owner personally, but through another friend on facebook
I found out about JERAS. Catherine (owner) does a wonderful job caring for all of these precious animals, that otherwise might have been tossed aside. I commend her for all of her hard work and dedication. She is truly a beautiful person. Thank you, Catherine. God Bless!!
I absolutely love Journey's End Ranch Animal Sanctuary and have known this awesome place for years now. The care and love is huge and every animal is treated with such tender love. Everything each animal needs is met 100%. Catherine's endless love for these animals is priceless.
I have been a friend to the Sanctuary for 3 years now and am always amazed at the excellent care given to all the animals that live there. I wish all Sanctuary's were run with such care and kindness and love.
I honestly cannot think of a better place for an animal in need to end up finding a home. Catherine is extremely knowledgeable and dedicated. I haven't a clue how she finds the time and energy she has to take such good care of the animals and still keep us all so wonderfully informed of how things are going and all the animals are doing at JERAS. Ten men would have a hard time keeping up.
I've followed Jeras for years now, and am amazed at the work they do for wild horses and burros! These animals are all about heritage and need to be saved.!!! Even though it's a tough and almost thankless job, they jump to the pump! The animals need them! Keep it up!!! :)
We give a small donation every month to help JERAS because we feel that they do animals good. Cathy takes in animals that people have thrown away and makes them well, for whatever time they have left on this earth.
Cathy works ENDLESSLY networking not only to find dogs and horses homes, she fights for the animals that aren't hers! I have learned so much from reading her posts.
The world needs MORE people like Cathy!
I only know this rescue from the facebook page and their newsletters. I donate to them when I can, as they fulfill a need in our society which is often overlooked.
This rescue is wonderful, they are what every single rescue and every animal loving person should be. They far exceed their dedication to each and every animal. Thank God for rescues like this.
Journey's End does an excellent job! They understand the physical and emotional needs of the animals in their care and meet those needs, with plenty of love and understanding!
animals are well taken care of, area is spacious and well cared for. I would recommend this sanctuary to anyone!
Journeys End has always been a safe reliable sanctuary for animals in need and not wanted. I have never known of any issues with the sanctuary and they work extremely hard to ensure the safety and care of the animals in their care
With a small budget, Journey's End Ranch Animal Sanctuary does great work. They save animals that most other sanctuaries don't take and give them the life they deserve.
It is an amazing feat of true love at Journeys End Rand and Sanctuary. All types of animals with a wide variety of problems from neglect to abuse so severe it makes some animals unwanted at other facilities have been rescued and rehabilitated st JERAS. Something as simple as a thyroid problem/fear of abusive people that do unimaginable things to defenseless animals. Cathy opens her heart and soul to injured animals be it physical ,emotional, or mental and lets them know they have a safe healthy life with her without fear or pain. She is the most wonderful person I have the honor of knowing. I will help her in any way I can, above and beyond our monthly contributions. Her love for these animals is over flowing and I believe blessed by God.
Thank you so much!
