JERAS is a wonderful nonprofit which runs on a shoestring budget but yet does a much needed work with animals that have been neglected and abused. I have known Catherine Ritlaw for over 45 years and she loves animals but also is a trained vet tech. She provides the best medical care and a nurturing safe environment for them. Please consider a donation as 100% of the monies go for upkeep and care.

I have known Catherine for over 50 years and she has always been a caring and well-educated animal guardian. Despite her own health limitations, i have seen where there's nothing that Catherine can't do to rescue and care for those animals that
were mal-treated, abandoned, or those that have special needs. Journey's End Ranch is a well run special place, a sanctuary which provides excellent medical care.

I have been following Catherine and her work with the animals at Journeys End Ranch for a number of years now. Knowing her has been wonderful, but the work she does is remarkable. Viewing her pictures and videos every day, of all the different life there, with names for all, brings you closer to how she cares for and loves them all.

Journeys End Ranch Animal Sanctuary is one of the well known rescues in the Kingman area. Cathy takes wonderful care of all her animals. She is always sending pictures of them, including the bunnies, ravens, road runners, you name it - she cares for all of them. I do so enjoy her newsletter - she has videos on it, and lets everyone know what is going on there. There is a little Burro named Poco - and he basically tells us what's going on too.

She strives everyday to research as much as possible on the real needs of these animals, ensuring they live out their years with her, healthy and as joyful as possible. That she does this in spite of some of the worst possible health issues makes her truly commendable.
She is my hero and I’m so glad to have her and JERAS in my life.

This is a sanctuary for abused horses and donkeys where they are given love, dignity and respect from a lady who is not well herself. She goes over and above their care even when she has days of illness. All the horses and donkeys are very well taken care of, any problems with their health are taken care of forthwith. If I had to put my horses and donkeys somewhere, this is the only place I would take them as I know they would live their life to the fullest and with the care they deserve

What an excellent rescue. Journey's End gives excellent care to several horses and burros, all done by one remarkable woman, Catherine Ritlaw. She has suffered for years with ill health, but she battles through to give not only the horses and burros such great care, she also takes care of a sheep, a couple of rabbits and very recently a dog that was virtually unadoptable. She's such a kind hearted lady that she also feed the local wildlife. Cathy keeps all her followers up to date with a monthly news letter and daily videos of all the animals under her care and I am a very proud supporter of her sanctuary.

Catherine does such an amazing job, taking extraordinary care of her residents despite her own health challenges. She also thinks outside the box, such as the time she needed to soak a hoof abscess on a horse that is untouchable. She actually dug a shallow hole, lined it with plastic and put the soaking solution in it, so that when the horse was eating he was positioned just right with his hoof in the hole, soaking away! I would have never thought of that! Her daily stories and updates make you feel like you're right there and actually know the horses and burros. I'm from far away MA, but I know those horses' and burros' stories and personalities thanks to Catherine's updates. I donate freely, knowing that my money is going to the sanctuary and not in some middle-man's pockets. She gives these animals a wonderful life of full bellies, healthy bodies, freedom and love - what more could they ask for?

She has tirelessly devoted her life to animals and now with Journeys End Ranch, she takes those that are the tough cases, the ones that others don't want. She does all this by herself as she must live solitary due to an extreme allergy condition. She takes no salary and keeps overhead to a minimum. She is a trained vet tech and can provide excellent medical attention. I highly recommend JERAS as an excellent nonprofit.

Journey's End Ranch Animal Sanctuary is in my opinion the Best Animal Sanctuary on the planet. The Director, Catherine Ritlaw, takes care of over 25 animals all day long, all by herself, never complains, feeds, waters, trims hooves, builds shelters, day after day . She is truly an inspiration to all the rest of us who are trying to help animals. She is an Honest person and always just sticks to her job , rain or shine , day after day ~ year after year. If I was an animal who needed rescuing, I would want to go to Journey's End Ranch Animal Sanctuary. Most of her rescued animals truly were at the End of Their Journey, and would have died if they had not been rescued by Catherine Ritlaw, Director of Journey's End Ranch Animal Sanctuary.

The little burro that found his way there against all odds, surviving 11 years in the wild despite a major birth defect... Now safe and loved.. Poco...the mighty survivor .. . A home at last... with a little friend Chico, by his side. It is so heartwarming to watch them play, safe and loved. Please watch the videos of the burros and horses happy at play, healthy, well cared for and in good health. Thank you, Catherine for your dedication and kindness and for blessing so many lives.

I honestly cannot think of a better place for an animal in need to end up finding a home. Catherine is extremely knowledgeable and dedicated. I haven't a clue how she finds the time and energy she has to take such good care of the animals and still keep us all so wonderfully informed of how things are going and all the animals are doing at JERAS. Ten men would have a hard time keeping up.

We give a small donation every month to help JERAS because we feel that they do animals good. Cathy takes in animals that people have thrown away and makes them well, for whatever time they have left on this earth.
Cathy works ENDLESSLY networking not only to find dogs and horses homes, she fights for the animals that aren't hers! I have learned so much from reading her posts.
The world needs MORE people like Cathy!

It is an amazing feat of true love at Journeys End Rand and Sanctuary. All types of animals with a wide variety of problems from neglect to abuse so severe it makes some animals unwanted at other facilities have been rescued and rehabilitated st JERAS. Something as simple as a thyroid problem/fear of abusive people that do unimaginable things to defenseless animals. Cathy opens her heart and soul to injured animals be it physical ,emotional, or mental and lets them know they have a safe healthy life with her without fear or pain. She is the most wonderful person I have the honor of knowing. I will help her in any way I can, above and beyond our monthly contributions. Her love for these animals is over flowing and I believe blessed by God.

Catherine Ritlaw does a tremendous job of rescuing and caring for the horses, dogs and burros at her sanctuary. She does all this work alone and therefore puts in very long hours. Her photos and videos of the animals show many "happy" faces. These animals are healthy and impecably groomed. We need more people like Catherine who cares so much for the animals. She also puts in many hours on the internet promoting rescues by networking with other people with the same mission. It is an honor to be a donor.

I met Cathy on FB and have spoken to her numerous times on the phone. I am honored to have such a lovely, cherished friend! If you haven't read her BIO, please do! Cathy is one-in-a-trillion...very rare that you find a permanently disabled individual with all the many disabilities Cathy has who would even consider taking on ONE rescue. Yet, Cathy thinks nothing of helping all the rescued horses, dogs, burrors and, yes, a pig (I probably missed a species!). All of these animals are 'special needs' animals and she gives her knowledge as a registered holistic Vet Tech to administer whatever is needed to lovingly nurture them back to health and MAINTAIN their health. All you have to do is watch her videos and you can see how happy and healthy all of Cathy's 'Gang' is today as opposed to when they first came to her sanctuary (JERAS) to live out the rest of their days...happy, healthy and FREE...well, free from the atrocities of the BLM. Cathy loves her rescued wild mustangs, but even all that she does for her beloved wild horses, to her they are not really 'FREE' in the true sense of the word. Cathy even mentions this in one of her videos...

I have known Catherine Ritlaw a few years now,  finding her on Twitter and then through FB we have become great friends. She herself has chemical sensitivities so when she is around other people she must wear a respirator, although this does not interfere with her abilities to take care of all the animals at  "Journeys End Ranch Animal Sanctuary" located on Kingman, Az.  Catherine who is a Vet tech and from fighting her illness is full of great ideas and remedies for curing all sorts of ailments for the animals entrusted to her care... J.E.R.A.S. takes in the most deserving and difficult animals, such as older animals, abused animals and health issue prone animals.  The knowledge that Catherine has is sooo helpful and broad, she is one of the first people I  turn to for help with our animals along with our Vet. When Catherine isn't busy with all the efforts it takes to take care of so many animals , she is online networking to help save other animals.. My family have our own "private" rescue and through help from Catherine we have brought in 5 wild horses and two Pomeranians' to our home.  Catherine works tirelessly to help save animals through her networking and literally is the reason that many many  animals now have a forever home... If you want to give to a worthy cause you cannot go wrong by giving here, as all money donated goes towards the care of the animals at J.E.R.A.S.  Everything is open and shared that happens at the sanctuary through their web page:  http://www.jersanctuary.org/  Check out Journey's End Ranch Animal Sanctuary and see what true selfless love really is!!   Thanks for reading my review... :)

I 'met' Cathy on a social networking site just over a year ago. Immediately, I was overcome and thoroughly impressed by Cathy's ruthless determination to make sure that all animals - not only those in her care but all over the world - are treated with the love, care, kindness and empathy that they deserve. Not only does Cathy work tirelessly with all the animals at JERAS but spends hours networking animals needing new homes, animals who are being abused, etc and doing her absolute best to ensure that they get what they want. I'm not convinced she ever sleeps! After knowing Cathy for a couple of months, I could tell that this was no flash-in-the-pan lady who did things on a whim then got bored after a couple of months but one with a gutsy determination for all the animals of the world and decided to set up a regular, monthly donation. So on top of everything else that she does, Cathy then spends more hours that she hasn't got, sending out monthly newsletters to supporters to let them know what is going on at JERAS - and these newsletters are never short, I can assure you! I am very, VERY proud to be a regular donator to JERAS from far away in Scotland and the newsletters and Facebook page keep me so very well informed that sometimes I actually feel like I'm there! The animals, who many have had very hard lives before going to JERAS, all look happy, healthy and well fed - all of which is a true testament to Cathy's hard work. I'm sure that the animals at JERAS are very grateful to everything that Cathy does for them - even though she possibly doesn't feel like they do sometimes - and I for one, am happy to continue to support her wonderful work across the pond. Not only have I found, through my love of animals, a fellow advocate and someone who I admire immensely but a true friend for always. Thank you Cathy for being exactly who you are :-)

I was very impressed and delighted with her website. She responded to my contact and spent a very generous and pleasant time on the phone with me. I am writing a paper about mustangs and it entailed shadowing a person and a detailed in person interview. Not only does Cathy run her animal sanctuary nearly single-handedly, she also spends countless hours on the internet campaigning worldwide for abused and homeless animals and networks for the reunification of lost or stolen pets. Cathy is a one of a kind individual who tirelessly tries to educate the public upon the mistreatment of all animals within all spheres of human and animal interplay. This I think is one of the most important aspects of Cathy's work as without the general knowledge of what is truly happening within this aforementioned context, there will be no changes to issues that could and should be rectified. I thank Cathy for educating me into becoming a more aware human being and animal advocate.

We have been involved with JERAS for a short time (approx. 12 months), and have been very impressed with the way this sanctuary is managed and the philosophy of caring for each animal as it comes to it. We are approached by numerous organisations around the world to contribute horse feed or donations. Unfortunately it is very difficult to be involved in all of the requests and we select a small number we deem worthwhile in their management, background and long term aspirations for the program. JERAS fits wonderfully with our company in these aspects. We are proud to have a small part in the feeding of these animals - yet more donations and companies need to be made aware of the amazing, life altering things they are doing. A tremendously worthwhile charity and nonprofit sanctuary to be involved in.

I check the JERAS page daily because of the amazing animal stories, pictures and important information Catherine posts throughout each day. I find myself inspired to share stories and network animals in need of rescue because of her tireless dedication and energy. Catherine efficiently manages all donations she receives, successfully finds homes for animals and effectively uses the media. She is incredibly loving and obviously cares for each and every one of her animals which can be seen by viewing any of the videos she posts on the JERAS page. I first became aware of JOURNEYS END RANCH ANIMAL SANCTUARY in 2010 when I was living in New Mexico. I found Catherine and her Sanctuary through a Facebook posting of someone trying to save a senior dog. Being in the SW I immediately became interested, I have become so educated to animal abuse and neglect through Catherine. She is the "voice of the voiceless". This is a one woman show, she does it all: caring for the animals in her care, homing and networking for abandoned and abused animals, setting up donation drives for her rescue, all while suffering from her own medical issues. Catherine never puts herself first, her life is the animals. Any and all donations make a large impact to help her care and save animals in distress. I would ask anyone who has a little extra to consider supporting her. If everyone of my Facebook friends gave just $1.00 per month it would make a large difference. I will always keep Catherine and JOURNEYS END RANCH ANIMAL SANCTUARY as one of my donations as long as I am able. She makes a difference. Having had a career as a Vet Tech, Catherine's animals are very fortunate to have her. This woman gives so much of herself, I am honored to know her. Joyce Sbarbaro

My first experience with Journey's End was to transport a dog named "Tucker" from one of the dog pounds to the sanctuary. Journey's End is way out on a dirt road, and as I drove up I wasn't sure what I was getting into. But Cathy came running out to greet me and Tucker. It was the middle of the hot summer, and Tucker had an ear infection and was filthy. Cathy gave him a cool soapy bath as she assessed what he was going to need. She had a little bed and isolation area all prepared for him. She gave me a tour of her rescue, and I was quickly won over by the amount of care and love that each of her animals receives. She interacts daily with each and every animal, and you can tell by the way they respond to her when she is nearby. It warmed my heart to be at her ranch. Since then, this has been my favorite local rescue. Cathy is GREAT with using media and Facebook. I was able to keep tabs on Tucker because she posted updates with photo and video on his progress....I watched him digging in mud, romping with another hound, and running, playing, and smiling. I watched Tucker transform from a flat, irresponsive dog into a playful, loving guy with a sparkle in his eye. Tucker has since gone on to a forever home. Cathy has a small list of volunteers and she knows how to delegate tasks efficiently to get alot of work done, although she herself works from sunrise to sunset for the welfare of her animals. I love Journey's End. This is how it is supposed to be.

Journey's End Ranch (JERAS) is run by an amazing woman, Catherine Ritlaw. She is smart, resourceful, experienced, multi-talented, inquisitive to new approaches and ideas, caring, dedicated and she can pinch a penny until it squeaks in a very good way. Catherine is devoted to the older animals, to the abused, the abandoned, to the wild ones, the lost causes and she works tirelessly to care for those at JERAS while also spending a lot of time helping other rescues and animals at risk, in the pipeline, still in need. I have known her for a few years and I have seen her make miracles happen for the ones she's rescued as well as others where she has had a hand, a big hand in many cases, in getting them safe and helping them become healthy. This woman is truly an angel for animals, a driven spirit put here to do good for the innocent souls who desperately need help and love. When you contribute to JERAS you should know that every penny will go for the animals and in the smartest way possible so as to maximize the impact. JERAS is home to several wild horses and burros which have been abused, injured, abandoned by the humans. Several senior dogs also live at JERAS, dogs which were on euthanasia lists, set to die within days or hours but who saved by Catherine's hard work to get them saved and transported to sanctuary. A few "oddfellows" live with these redeemed and now loved souls, also rescues, a potbellied pig and a ram. With Catherine's prior career as a vet tech, she is well qualified to care for all of the animals with great expertise and smart application of all the latest available information as she strives to keep learning. I am also extremely impressed with Catherine's great and successful work in fund raising, winning grants, putting together a great board of directors, her great outreach via social media and though her regularly published interesting and engaging newsletters. I hope you will seriously consider donating to JERAS so the good works there can go on and be expanded. You will not be sorry - just check out JERAS and you will see for yourself!

Cathy Ritlaw has created the most wonderful sanctuary for terribly abused animals most of whom are at the end of their lives. Abused horses, burros and dogs that are lucky to find their way to this healing place will be treated with respect and love for the rest of their lives but I know it isn't easy. Cathy spends entire days caring for and helping animals of all kinds through social networking efforts and stepping in to help personally when all hope seems to be lost for these fur babies. She is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to veterinary and holistic care for the animals and has a great network of friends and advisors who are happy to donate their time and energy to help with her efforts. This is one of the most deserving rescue organizations I have ever encountered and fully support their efforts to help animals close to home and all over the country through networking and other means. They also address the growing problem of elderly animals that are abandoned or dumped into shelters by owners who do not want to deal with the medical and/or psychological needs of older animals. Her sanctuary should serve as inspiration for other rescuers who want to help elderly, abused animals in their community. I hope your organization will honor Cathy Ritlaw and the Journeys End Ranch Animal Sanctuary with spot on your 2012 Top Rated list to help her continue the incredible work she is doing as well as help so many animals in need.
