Wonderful rescue doing amazing work. I visited there about two years ago as I wanted to meet "Poco the brave little burro" in person. It was a long drive from CO but so well worth it. I loved meeting all the animals and Cathy as well. If you can donate to this cause please do.
What an excellent rescue. Journey's End gives excellent care to several horses and burros, all done by one remarkable woman, Catherine Ritlaw. She has suffered for years with ill health, but she battles through to give not only the horses and burros such great care, she also takes care of a sheep, a couple of rabbits and very recently a dog that was virtually unadoptable. She's such a kind hearted lady that she also feed the local wildlife. Cathy keeps all her followers up to date with a monthly news letter and daily videos of all the animals under her care and I am a very proud supporter of her sanctuary.
365 days a year Journey's End Ranch looks after many horses and burros, and two sheep to make sure they are well cared for! One woman does this, and even though she suffers ill health, she some how manages to see to all their needs!
I stumbled upon Journeys End a few years ago via FB. And through Poco's story became a follower/donor. Catherine provides a forever home for seniors, possibly the hardest group to place. With large pastures, special feed and care, these animals get to live out the rest of their lives surrounded by love. Catherine does extensive research to provide the best care possible. Journeys End is on my list of places to visit as soon as I retire!!
I have known Catherine Ritlaw for over nine years. As a matter of fact, she really is the person who helped get me started in animal advocacy. Journey's End is a true safe, loving haven for horses and donkeys and all animals that are in need of help....even to the crow that sits on the fence, or the rabbit that needs a helping hand. It is so wonderful to see her experience as a vet tech help her be able to give these animals a home for life....true sanctuary....
Journey's End is truly the end of a journey for many, many animals that would not have otherwise made it. Catherine Ritlaw, a former vet tech, is able to give them stellar care, lots of love, and truly cares about their wellbeing. When there is an animal in pain, or in need of rescue and a safe, forever home, Journey's End and Catherine are there for them whenever it is humanly possible. I recommend this charity with no hesitation....
I have known Catherine for over 50 years and she has always been a caring and well-educated animal guardian. Despite her own health limitations, i have seen where there's nothing that Catherine can't do to rescue and care for those animals that
were mal-treated, abandoned, or those that have special needs. Journey's End Ranch is a well run special place, a sanctuary which provides excellent medical care.
Journeys End Ranch Animal Sanctuary does a magnificent job of helping animals that have been abused or discarded. I have seen the huge difference in so many different animals as they have been giving proper food, health care and love. Catherine Ritlaw devotes all her energy, finances, and knowledge to care for these animals no one wanted.
Cathy has a way with animals that is magic. Even with her own health problems, the care "The Gang" recieves is all about them living a happy, healthy life. Even the wild animals know where to go, when they need help.
Way up on my list of favorite nonprofits to support. Cathy has struggles with her own health, but never seems to keep her from taking wondrous care of the animals she is able to rescue and care for on Journey's End Ranch Animal Sanctuary.
JERAS is an excellent sanctuary. The owner, Catherine Ritlaw, is very knowledgeable about equids, their anatomy, physiology, and the treatments needed to maintain or enhance their lives.
I am so proud to be associated with JERAS. The horses and donkeys are so well taken care of by a lady who has multiple health problems, but puts her charges ahead of her problems. If my horses and donkeys needed to go somewhere I would send them here as I know they would be taken care of like the horses and donkeys that are already there with dignity respect and love
To me this is heaven for those horses and donkeys who have only known hell. One lady takes care of all these equines with health issues of her own, but there isn't a day that she misses. I have horses and donkeys and if I couldn't take care of mine, I would find a way to get them to Journeys End Ranch Animal Sanctuary, where I know like the ones who are already there, they would be given love and treated with the dignity and respect that they deserve. This is a haven for those that have been abused and all their needs are met by this one lady who has to do it by herself due to her illness. This is a haven for equines where they can be themselves and never fear again
Love you, Jackie! TY for your loyal support
JERAS is an outstanding grass-roots organization. Cathy's care and attention to her charges, whether rescued stallion or, even, the local wild rabbits is a breath of fresh air in our troubled times. She does it all with little outside help but with the great appreciation of her community and supporters.
JERAS is heaven on earth for those creatures, mostly but not all just horses and donkeys, who have only known sadness and mis-treatment in this life. Cathy, who is battling daily her own health issues, takes care of her charges with care, and clear sightedness. Each animal in her sanctuary is given love and treated with the dignity and respect that they deserve. This is truly a haven for forgotten and abused animals and I am proud to be able to support Cathy's work.
Cathy Ritlaw continues to amaze me with her tenacity in protecting horses and burros, and all animals. She strives everyday to research as much as possible on the real needs of these animals, ensuring they live out their years with her, healthy and as joyful as possible. That she does this in spite of some of the worst possible health issues makes her truly commendable.
She is my hero and I’m so glad to have her and JERAS in my life.
I have worked with Journeys End and Cathy Ritlaw for many years. I can't say enough about the incredible quality of life she maintains for the neglected and abandoned animals that have found a home here. She donates her time and land and continually searches for the highest quality food and supplements at the lowest prices for them all. The rescue is supported by donations coming from the most dedicated supporters I have seen.
Our organization has worked with JERAS for over five years. We have been to the ranch, seen the condition of the facility and equine in their care. Catherine Ritlaw does a fabulous job of caring for the horses and donkeys at the rescue, does not over extend what they are capable of doing and puts the needs of the rescue first. A true rescue in every sense of the word.
Thank you so much, Christine!!
We have worked with Cathy and her rescue for six years now and we are glad to have such a great relationship with a rescue that provides the best care for their horses and burros. Cathy gives her life to these animals and it shows. I hold her in the highest regard and am blessed to call her my friend.
This sanctuary is run single-handedly by a woman who has a deep abiding love for animals.
I have known Cathy for over 50 years and even as a child she cared deeply and rescued animals in an urban environment. Since operating the Sanctuary, she has taken in numerous "lost causes" and has nurtured and cared for them so that they may live out their life in a happy, safe place. She works hard everyday to ensure that all of the animals in her care get the best treatment. She is the best!
This is a wonderful sanctuary where the animals are cared for by a knowledgeable devoted woman. Catherine Ritlaw has been devoted rescuing animals since a very young age. I know first hand as she had a menagerie at times in our apartment in the Bronx. If you look at the before and after pictures of the animals she has rescued you can clearly see that she is fierce in her determination that these animals live out their lives with the best food , shelter and tender loving care .
This beautiful sanctuary in Arizona is a haven for these beautiful souls. Catherine posts beautiful stories and updates about all the animals and her devotion and love for them is there for all to see. Such a beautiful place.
Thank you, Lisa!
This is a wonderful rescue. The animals are loved and well taken care of. Watching them run around you can feel their happiness. A beautiful sight to see. Their journey has definitely come to a peaceful and happy ending in a beautiful, tranquil sanctuary. Thank you to Journeys End Ranch Animal Sanctuary for giving these beautiful animals a home.
I have been following Catherine and her work for a few years. The care she gives these rescued animals is the best. The stories she shares about them makes me feel like I really know them. If you have a question she responds quickly sharing her knowledge.
I first heard about Journeys End Animal Sanctuary when Poco the burro was caught by BLM and taken there. I've been following his story and those of the other animals living there for about a year. It's obvious these animals are loved and cared for. Very lucky animals indeed.
I have followed Cathy for years and watched and read about all the wonderful work that she does basically by herself with the help when needed of vets and of course donations which are always needed to provide food and medical care and she provides the love and safety for the neglected, abandoned, abused animals in her care..my favorite being Poco, The Brave Little Burro. I love seeing and reading the updates on all her family of rescues and also the troops of birds, mice, bunnies and others that she provides with food and water. She is an angel on earth..that is for sure and only wish there were many many more just like her! Thank you Catherine for all that you do!!
I have been following Cathy and JERAS for about 3 years now. Knowing Cathy's health, I am amazed and encourage by her stamina to keep going. What I have learned seeing how she reacts to situations involving all her animals, coming up with results to solve problems that arise almost every minute of her days. The Love she has for even the little wild critters that hang out around her ranch, as much as she has for the bigger animals. One Amazing Woman
Catherine does such an amazing job, taking extraordinary care of her residents despite her own health challenges. She also thinks outside the box, such as the time she needed to soak a hoof abscess on a horse that is untouchable. She actually dug a shallow hole, lined it with plastic and put the soaking solution in it, so that when the horse was eating he was positioned just right with his hoof in the hole, soaking away! I would have never thought of that! Her daily stories and updates make you feel like you're right there and actually know the horses and burros. I'm from far away MA, but I know those horses' and burros' stories and personalities thanks to Catherine's updates. I donate freely, knowing that my money is going to the sanctuary and not in some middle-man's pockets. She gives these animals a wonderful life of full bellies, healthy bodies, freedom and love - what more could they ask for?
Thank you, Andrea!
I have been following Catherine and her work with the animals at Journeys End Ranch for a number of years now. Knowing her has been wonderful, but the work she does is remarkable. Viewing her pictures and videos every day, of all the different life there, with names for all, brings you closer to how she cares for and loves them all.
