I have worked as a volunteer and donor for this nonprofit for the last several years. I feel that the commitment that JHF has for those in recovery is 100 percent - 7 days a week-365 days a year. The staff and volunteers have heart of service and gratitude and supporting those in recovery is their priority. I will continue to help any way I can through volunteering and providing donations to help with the many programs that JHF provides to those on the journey to recovery from addiction.
I have attended many events with the Journey House Foundation and am always amazed at the dedication of its members. They truly are committed and care deeply about helping others.
My name is Adriane Adams. I'm 38 years old, the mother of 6 beautiful kids. My life was consume by drugs for 14 years. I lost my self will, dignity, custody of my kids, home, relationships, due to my addiction. In 2021 I had hit my bottom.I checked myself in a 44 day detox, in Galax, Va. Not knowing where to start in my recovery or how I was going to make it. I took in all I could learn there and completed the program. But something was still missing. So my next journey was coming to Richmond and going into a faith base program that was 12 months. Where I learned how to get a close relationship with God and surrender my will. Completing that program I decided i need to start building my new life and a good foundation for myself and children. From a sister of the church lead me to Journey House Foundation. Where I met Mike and Kim Tillem, got accepted into there program. Little by little my life started to come together and gaining the resources I need to getting a new life. I started to volunteer for different thing that was need at there Center, leading groups, giving back tools i have learned through this process. Later becoming the front desk receptionist. From there getting my high school diploma. Now im a Recovery Navigator for Americrops working under Journey House Foundation. Pushing towards my PRS certification. I have court coming up to gain custody of my children. I have a home,my driver license. My life could never be what is if it wasn't for God, the Journey House an its amazing team they have saving people lives.
Journey House was my first time in a Recovery Community Organization, but not my first time in recovery. I wasn't sure what to expect when I was allowed to come to the program. I found that the staff including the owner to be very invested in helping guide me in the recovery process. It was family oriented and functioned like its own little Family. I was given many opportunities to grow in my recovery. I'm grateful for the opportunities, accountability and the support given while in the program. I show my gratitude to The Journey House by still coming back over 3 years after first entering the program to give back to the Place that helped me start a new life.
I have been with the Journey House Foundation for 8 months. I have struggled with addiction for the past 15 years, and have tried various other similar treatment programs. None have shown me the love, care, support as Journey House has. Journey House has enabled me to find confidence in myself and have given me the tools to get my life back on track. I would highly recommend Journey House to anyone struggling with substance abuse.
When I arrived at Journey House, all I owned was a duffel bag of clothes. I was given a chance and surrounded by people who cared and provided me with opportunities to recover. The staff genuinely have the participants' well being at heart. The work was mine to do, but the resources and safe environment helped me turn my life around and be a better person.
Journey House has saved my life! Out of any program I've ever been involved in this is by far the best one I have been to. The staff really cares your not just a number they make sure u are on the right path in recovery and in your normal life with work or personal issues. I am lucky to have found this place!
Journey House Foundation has helped change my life. I entered as a shattered person, looking for any hope that a life without drugs and alcohol was possible. The support I received as a participant far exceeded my expectations. Each person on staff showed me the kind of genuine care I would only expect from a family member or close friend. I have thrived in the familial environment that this staff specifically aims to provide. The environment enabled me to develop a foundation in recovery and integrate back into the workforce. I once thought I would die in my addiction, but have been drug free for over a year, and currently live a life I didn't think was possible.
Journey House Foundation has truly turned my younger brother's life around. When I first contacted Michael and Kimberly, they didn't ask any questions. They told me to get my brother to Virginia and to them, and they would work with him to do the rest. And that is how it has been since October. But their service goes beyond Journey House Foundation. Kimberly is on a Youth Recovery Support Services committee with me, and they are both truly center their lives around helping people recover and find a meaningful purpose beyond substance use disorder. To say I am thankful for not just Kimberly and Michael, but to the ENTIRE JHF staff, would be an tragic understatement. From the receptionist I met when I took my brother there initially, to the staff that I am still in communication with, I can finally sleep better at night, not wondering is that next call going to be the worst call! The holistic approach to recovery is what sets JHF apart from other facilities my brother has been to and I am a witness as to how much of a difference it truly makes. Journey House Foundation is, without any doubt, a GREAT NON-PROFIT!
Journey House Foundation is loving family oriented organization that showed me love till I could love myself. This program has forever changed my life.
I have been on the board of JHF for about three years. I truly believe JHF is doing great work and is effectively helping so many people where being at JHF is their last option for getting their lives back on track. There are many success stories where, with the help and support and structure this program gives them, participants have been able to overcome their addictions and are now living on their own with jobs and are able to provide for themselves.
Michael and Kimberly are passionate about this mission and have put their heart and soul into this work. They care deeply about all of the participants as well as the staff they hire to help and have made this foundation their focus seven days a week. Their dedication is obvious to those who see them at work as well as in the experience and outcome of so many of the participants.
