Mission: Support free and responsible scholastic journalism by providing resources and educational opportunities, by promoting professionalism, by encouraging and rewarding student excellence and teacher achievement, and by fostering an atmosphere which encompasses diversity yet builds unity.
Programs: Conventions - to provide students with valuable learning lessons in all media areas and encourage interaction with others. Students attend seminars led by professional speakers and participate in various contests and critiques.
publications - to provide journalism educators with quarterly publications, newsletters, and directories to examine current legal and ethical issues affecting journalism and to provide information regarding the association.
certification and development - to honor educators who have made significant contributions to scholastic journalism with a variety of awards and certificates.
to contribute to the profession of journalism and communications through master teaching, technical demonstrations, exchange of methods and models, and on-the-job opportunities.
