One of the top Veteran charities that truly gives to severely injured & children of KIA. High percentage goes to the veterans & childrens, and they strive to pick up when the government programs don't deliver.

JCS is an incredible organization.
I have been involved with JCS for a few years and have seen first hand the result of the work they do. Once you become involved with and support JCS, you are not just supporting a "veteran"; you are supporting a "friend". The mission is help the Heros for life; there are very few JCS Heros so while attending events, you meet and become friends with the Heros. If a friend needs you- you help them...

I came across JCS when a friend told me they were going to one of the events. I was reading about all the Heroes on their website and was absolutely drawn to their stories. I started attending events as well. I love seeing the JCS grow and add more Heroes each year. They are true to their word and really do help these men and women. Thank you JCS!

Had the best experience meeting the JCS family. They bring veterans into their family for life. And when something happens, JCS shows up every time. I have seen them go above and beyond for the people they support and I love listening to them talk about the organization, talk about passionate!

I have been a part of the JCS for a few years now and I am still blown away every time I interact with them. They are down-to-earth people trying to make a difference for our veterans. My favorite experience was the Price of Freedom Gala when we heard from the speaker and he said he had never encountered an organization like JCS in any of the other groups he had met. Love that JCS is making a difference and changing lives.

Honored to help serve our veterans! This organization hosts 4 major events throughout the year, appealing to a large number of different people. My favorite part is seeing the Heroes at the events and getting the chance to talk with them! Truly amazing people.

JCS works very hard to support our severely wounded veterans. I love working the events and seeing everyone come together for such a worthy cause. IF you are thinking about supporting local Heroes in STL, this is a great way to see your support make a direct impact.

JCS is an incredible charity in many ways. They are well organized at every level while providing exceptional service in all that they do. From caring for their heroes, interacting with donors, and crafting a community that feel like family, JCS does exceptional and important work. My experiences volunteering with them are all positive. I have had fun meeting the great people involved at JCS, and more importantly, my experiences were very humbling.

We became involved with this charity 7 years ago while looking for a way to support local veterans from our annual Fitness Challenge. We have been amazed at the quality and efficiency of support that is offered and the number of people that volunteer their time to make this organization work. What a great group of people and an amazing cause.

I have helped with this charity since the beginning. It is a truly amazing charity. The concept of helping severely injured Veterans is unique. They will be taken care of for life. JCS becomes part of their family and all who are involved get to see and meet the men and women that are being helped. It is very gratifying to be able to see what a difference this charity makes in their lives.

This nonprofit has saved/enabled my full and wonderful life after I sustained a career ending combat injury while serving in Iraq in 3008. As th first JCS hero, there is certainly not sufficient space here for me to list the multifaceted and exceptional attributes of this unparalleled organization.

I was introduced to JCS through my father and his efforts with the organization. We are both veterans and seeing the work my father was doing for JCS inspired me to get more involved and to give back to those who served as well. Around the time that I was first introduced to JCS, I befriended the wife of a JCS Hero through teaching and saw firsthand the impact that JCS has on the Heroes and families they adopt. I have spent the last two years working as the volunteer coordinator for the Bike for Heroes event along with attending other events. It is inspiring to see the JCS Heroes overcome adversity and achieve goals that otherwise seem impossible. It has been a great honor and privilege to support this organization. I will continue to support the mission of JCS and the promise of this country to Never Forget the sacrifices of the brave men and women who serve.

JCS has been there for my husband and family in so many ways. They have helped us get a play area built in our basement for our kids they have financially helped while I myself am in nursing school. My family has been apart of many organizations that say they will help, but JCS is truely the only organization that has followed through and continues to help not just through financial needs but also through emotion needs as well. They genuinely want to know how we are all doing and will help in anyway they can. They even make an effort to come to my kids baseball games which are not around the corner for a lot of them. This is truely a family organization and they make it feel that way to their adoptees. Thank you so much JCS for everything you have done for not just my family but for everyone.

This charity is such a gift to the men and women of our military. Not only does it assist the men and women who come back with injuries - both physically and mentally, they also assist the families of those fallen soldiers so they can continue with this lives as normal as possible. They help the children continue their education and support the wives so that they can have a home, food, clothing and much much more. If you have not visited their website, you must do so. They shares stories of the individuals that need assistance and what you can do to give that assistance through their charity!

JCS has been an utmost blessing for my husband and family. They not only helped my husband get back on his feet with a job, post deployment and injury, but have given our entire family blessing after blessing with their continued support. They have changed our life for better and we can’t thank them enough for ALL that they do.

I’m just as much of a Mom and Apple Pie, Hot Dogs and Chevrolet American as the next person.
However, when I was asked to volunteer at a Joshua Chamberlain event – I was so impressed at the character of everyone who attended that day, I volunteered again. And then, again.
This is a very impressive charity.
I like it’s humble, good natured origins and how it serves our local heroes - not just for a fleeting moment, but for life.
Attend any of the JCS events and you will experience a group of truly exceptional people. They’re inspired and dedicated with big hearts and an even bigger purpose.

My wife and I used to support many, many charities. And we still do. But when we got involved with JCS, our world changed. We saw that JCS truly makes a difference, not just in the here and now but for our heroes for the rest of their lives. Putting a child through college after her dad was killed in action, shows what JCS can do, and does every day. I'm proud to offer my support to the Heroes of Joshua Chamberlain Society.

This Joshua Chamberlain Society goes above and beyond to help their hero’s and their hero’s families with needs and unexpected expenses that come up. From witnessing events and seeing the overall camaraderie, this organization is one large family that everyone should want to be a part of. JCS will always have my support.

I got involved with the JCS several years ago when they threw their first Bike for Heroes event in Columbia. They asked at the Legion for some volunteers and as a member of the Sons of the American Legion I volunteered for the day. During the entire day I was impressed by the spirit of the volunteers from JCS and learned of their incredible approach to helping Veterans. Meeting some of their Heroes and hearing their stories inspired me to help them in any and all future events that I was able to. The heart and sole of this organization is truly in the right place. Please check them out, go to an event or two and support them when you can.

This non-profit allows for close, personal relationships with the injured veterans or families of killed-in-action heroes. Although the reach is small, the impact is huge, with positive benefits for both the men and women served as well as all the volunteers and supporters. Every interaction and event leaves you feeling fulfilled and part of something greater than yourself!

The generosity of the donors, the energy of the volunteers, the honor of our mission - all speak to a worthwhile and heartfelt endeavor. The JCS Heroes are the true beneficiaries, but everyone who touches this mission walks away with a great appreciation of the sacrifice of our combat-injured veterans and feels like they are making a difference in the lives of the Heroes.

The JCS charity was not only started in St. Louis but it helps local St. Louis war hero's and their families. I love that when we donate we are donating to a local charity and the money, time or talents all are being used to help local families just like us. It's nice to have a hometown feel when we are reaching out to help. This is one of the best organizations around for keeping it local. Thank you to all those who founded JCS and to those who work endlessly to help others.

I found the Joshua Chamberlain Society a few years back and they are an incredible organization!
I have personally met almost all of the Heros from the STL chapter since they attend and participate in multiple events. They ARE Heros, even though they do not like being called Heros; and JCS helps them in many non conventional ways. it is not just a 'thanks for your service; sorry you are a paraplegic now; we are going to build you a ramp to your porch....good luck' kind of support; but rather a 'whatever you need now and whatever you need later is the type of support they provide. For example, it may be a huge thing- like a handicapped accessible bathroom remodel one time and help with a repair bill the next time for the same Hero. Or, Christmas gifts for the kids one time and tuition assistance another month for a Hero. I am sure there are many things that I do not know about; but as we all encounter 'surprise issues' in our daily lives; the Heros do as well. Just as the winds change, so do our needs, so do the Heros' needs and JSC entertains any potential assistance as an option. I know they have other 'chapters' in other states; but if you want to 'see your money in action' go to a JCS event and you will see it and be very happy you did.
