JobTrain is an organization that is able to meet people where they are. While their ultimate goal is to help people start careers that will empower them with long term economic mobility, they have a robust, indeed amazing array of services that help people get stabilized and ready for career training. Their outcomes are outstanding, showing that they deliver on their promise.
It is my pleasure to work for JobTrain and inform everyone about the great career training programs and other services we offer.
when I first visited JobTrain, some years back, I was experiencing a dramatic set back in my overall sense of wellbeing. I was feeling depressed due to mainly a great deal of physical pain as a result of a sudden illness. Emotionally, I was incapable of sorting things out on my own, Luckily, I found a flyer that mentioned Job Train as a place that, among other things, offers assistance with community resources. I could not figure out how to go about applying for social benefits or even where to go to find helpful and adequate community resources. the idea alone that I had to make calls, or that I had to put the paperwork together for an application was fearful and physically paralyzing to me. I gathered my strength and I went to JobTrain. I was fortunate to meet with a wonderful person there, a counselor who provided me with not just the assistance that I needed to apply for CalFresh, for MediCal, and also for disability insurance but she also treated with kindness, compassion, and a great level of knowledge and professionalism. thank you JobTrain, keep on with such good work!
JobTrain is a very unique animal in the world of workforce development. They provide not only job training to help individuals find their career but also host a variety of additional services for anyone. Students must be very serious about the training they are going into because it can be up to a fifteen week commitment to learn these skills. More employers especially those in the tech sector who believe in diversity hiring should become involved with JobTrain.
We are a group of volunteers that had the honor of working with JobTrain through a young professional volunteer group called YCore. Through summer and fall months of 2018, we worked closely with JobTrain team to understand its work and looked for ways to improve engagement with younger community of volunteers. It has been wonderful getting to know this community of compassionate staff and supporters that are truly invested in students' success both in a career sense and as humans. Every interaction with JobTrain inspire us to be more engaged in local community service!
There is much heart in this community that can be immediately felt as one steps into the JobTrain building. There is also strong measurable metrics showing decades of success in re-training community members to become participants in local economy. Let's support JobTrain in doing its best work for local Bay Area communities!
I have been inspired by everyone involved with the JobTrain organization from the students to the staff to the leadership. JobTrain's educational programs, services, and resources play a vital part in helping those who need a helping hand, a leg up, or a second chance get exactly that. And, best of all, the results show that JobTrain graduates land in jobs and careers that they might never have thought possible.
Job Train continues to be a shining star in our world -- helping train community members for meaningful work and careers, while providing a full range of supportive services. Job Train leadership, staff, and volunteers are experts in their fields and compassionate in their approach. Job Train graduates are highly sought after by employers -- they are enthusiastic, well-prepared, and have a strong work ethic. Congratulations Job Train!
Job Train plays an incredibly important role in our community by helping those most in need build the skills needed to jump-start their careers. The team at Job Train is top-notch, and knows what it takes to help people prepare for meaningful, well-paying jobs. Job Train is already a legacy in the Bay Area, and continues to stay relevant based on current trends and employment opportunities. It's been an honor to serve Job Train as a volunteer and Board Member. Check us out -- all are welcome!
JobTrain gives people the opportunity get to where they want to go regardless of where they are starting. By providing job skills training, confidence, life skills and the support they need to succeed, JobTrain changes lives. The graduates of JobTrain benefit, their families benefit, and the community at-large benefits from JobTrain's programs.
An amazing nonprofit that helps thousands of people start new and/or more stable careers every year, and has been a positive force in the community for fifty years!
Being a good American, a respectful person in your own community, for me means supporting those in need. JobTrain has been the organization that I support the most. Both in my businesses, by hiring graduates from the Culinary Program and personally through donations that support their great work. What more would we want to offer someone who is lost, needing help than a way to caringly get back on their feet and be self reliant. Having been on welfare decades ago, I relate even more deeply and only wish that an organization like JobTrain had been around when I was in need. Bravo a million times for what you do in the very best ways truly help people willing to help themselves.
JobTrain has provided a window out for those who often have none through education and skill training. Anyone who has struggled in their life wants support, but many want a means to get on their own footing and solidly provide for themselves and their family.
My business has worked with JobTrain for decades. The successes are heart warming.
I have been involved with JobTrain for several years. The compassion, community involvement and service to their clients is so inspiring and makes a huge difference in peoples' lives. It's an amazing place to be a part of and support.
This opportunity came to me when I needed it the most. I had worked for 18 years in corporate with nothing to show for it, I was struggling & couldn't provide for my two children as a single mother. I lost our home and had to move around with friends and family. During a housing meeting my counselor mentioned Jobtrain and handed me the flyer. The first class that popped out to me was Project Build - Carpentry class and I called the next day to sign up. I've always enjoyed working with my hands and had no intentions of going back to the office life as I needed a solid career with no limits/there is always room to grow in the trades industry! After 17 weeks we received 6 certifications that will take us farther in our career, we've earned a new valuable skillset, we've built lifelong friendships and have the opportunity that we didn't have a few months ago. I will forever be grateful for Jobtrain and for providing the support I needed to get on a better life path. This is a great organization and I hope to see it going strong in another 50 years!
JobTrain is a proven leader in helping those most in need to succeed! They pride themselves on making sure that those who come through their doors have every reason to succeed and no excuses to fail. To accomplish this, they provide not ONLY job training, but assessment, essential life skills, counseling, high quality career placement services and much, much more!
A friendly, knowledgeable and caring staff round out a diverse offering of programs and services. If you or anyone you know needs job training or placement services, you owe it to yourself to give JobTrain a visit!
JobTrain is an invaluable resource for those who often find themselves with few or no resources to speak of throughout the Bay Area. JobTrain is not just a vocational training facility (although it does that remarkably well!) - it also works hard to help people every step of their way on personal and professional journeys. From childcare, to procuring a professional wardrobe, to obtaining other critical resources, JobTrain is a "one-stop shopping center" for success where the only currency you need is the desire to improve your life!
JobTrain does a great job training students for new careers. I use the catering team exclusively for my Board of Directors meetings. I am sure many of the students have not been exposed to catering events, cooking for big groups, working with chefs, creating menus, etc., but I have to say you would not know it unless you are the one hiring them. The folks from the culinary school are very good. The food is delicious and the presentation colorful and inviting. They are on time and always professional. Because it is a teaching catering team, I give them feedback and JobTrain is always very thankful for the suggestions.
JobTrain provides an invaluable service to the community, and their catering program provides amazing meals for business meetings. Delivery, presentation, and quality are outstanding.
Job Train is a great School with Great Teachers and trainers., I learned so much from Job train.
Upon my completion Job train kept in touch with me, referring me to Job opportunities and places where I could advance my education and training from Job Train Inc.
Thanks to Job Train I was able to secure a great job at Stanford children's Hospital.
I want to thank all Teachers and Staff at Job Train for all that they did for me while I attended the school.
I am now an CNA and working full time at Stanford Children Hospital
I highly recommend Job train to anyone seeking better and new opportunities.
JobTrain has been God sent! I gained so much knowledge while attending and being a part of the Professional Healthcare Worker Program. It has helped me to come one step closer to pursuing my dreams as a Registered Nurse. The instructor Xavier was phenomenal, and the staff there is so accommodating. I could not have asked for a better experience. I have recommended JobTrain to anyone and everyone I've come into contact with who needs help starting their career. It's good to know that there are still institutions out there who want and are willing to do as much as they can to see their students SUCCEED. I'm extremely proud to be a part of the JobTrain alumni.

I was jobless and homeless. I had a vision but did not know how to go about it. Jobtrain trained me for free and gave me hope. In Jobtrain, I learnt the importance of increasing my value always through training. Today I live with my family my rented apartment, I am an account Manager with healthcare Services Group and I am an ARF administrator by training, soon I will be licensed and hopefully work towards managing my own Facility. I am glad Jobtrain came to my rescue. Wesley Omoregie
At JobTrain people gain not only job skills, but the confidence, life skills and support they need to succeed. The graduates of JobTrain transition to sustainable careers, and become role models for their children. The graduates benefit, their families benefit, and the community at-large benefits from JobTrain's programs.
JobTrain is an amazing organization, they do so much for so many people. And it's all free for the clients. When they walk through the door, JobTrain helps them figure out how to get meaningful jobs, based on their skills and interests. The vocational classes are exceptional and the job counselors really understand how to support the whole person - providing transportation help, financial and legal counseling, child care, and wellness.
Providing opportunities to chase your dream and get back on your feet has been the JobTrain mission for 51 years. This organization has been helping to transform lives since 1965. I am a home-grown tomato and I owe much to JobTrain. After graduating from one of JobTrain's training programs, I was hired as a member of the staff. I help provide opportunities to those most in need, because someone once did it for me.
I love JobTrain! They offer qualify training and other supportive services to the community. They are committed to helping unprivileged populations and those who are lacking basic skills. They are experts in their fields of training and they have a large group of employers who support their efforts and hire their graduates. If you have not stopped into JobTrain-- please do and see all the wonderful services and training they offer!
JobTrain is great organization committed to helping those most in need. They offer many supplemental services that benefit the whole community. JobTrain has excellent instructors, career advisors, and other administrative staff. They have many employer connections and they help match students with the right training path for them.
If you are looking for an employment opportunity, GO TO JOBTRAIN. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
JobTrain is life changing. It provides essential life and job skills to our community's underserved population. The staff and management of JobTrain are effective and committed to the mission. The clients / students are eager to improve their lives and JobTrain is that resource that supports the efforts. Truly life changing.
JobTrain goes above and beyond when it comes to helping their students and community. The free vocational training that they offer allows people to leave their minimum wage jobs and start a new career for themselves. Before sending their students off they make sure they are ready for the workforce, they truly care for them.
Jobtrain has allowed me to find my true passion, for the last four months, I've been taking classes at Jobtrain, and it is not the regular classroom environment, it feels more like home, and the people at JT make you feel like you are part of a family. In a couple weeks I'll be embarking myself in a new journey, and I'm confident that I'll succeed because JT has prepared me really well to take on any new challenge.
I came to Jobtrain to learn about construction and I ended up learning much more than I have planned to. I took the Project Build class and Marty mandibles was my teacher and he was amazing through out the 17 week class, in all the experience was really Good and Im very grateful to have been lucky enough to find Jobtrain, I could go on but I'll leave it short and sweet. You can't go wrong coming here!!!
jobtrain is great and provides people with low incomes to get the skills they need to get a job. Everything is great about this organization and i cannot say enough good things. Even the food truck that comes by is reasonably priced!
I first heard of JobTrain through my mom. I signed up for the Web Development bootcamp. JobTrain has by far exceeded my expectations in their dedication to making sure you become successful. Even our instructor Jessica Parsons has over 10 years of experience and is an excellent instructor. Overall, JobTrain is great and I would recommend this organization to everyone who is interested in bettering their life.
I came to the establishment looking at how to apply for EDD after being laid off. However, during my visit I also found out they offered vocational training in their Web Development Coding Boot Camp. As I was switching job sectors anyways, I enrolled and found that their program was very immersive and challenging. As I have always been an analytical thinker, it fit in with my thought process and I am doing what I am learning in my free time at home. I am hoping to find a job in Web Development or Database Management by the end of the course.
I am a new board member and have been nothing but amazed by the the impact that this organization is having on the community and the individuals that have walked through their doors. The staff is passionate and dedicated to building the programs that will improve the lives of its students and, as evidenced by the many touching reviews, it works. The Bay Area is lucky to have this organization, and I am humbled to be a part of it.
JobTrain is an exceptional organization that trains students in an "on-the-job" modality that truly prepares them for today's workforce. Not only are the classes relevant and up-to-date, but JobTrain also has great supportive services : Lifeskills and Job Readiness modules, resume development, partners like EDD, the "Single Stop" that can help you with many personal issues from financial literacy to childcare help -and much more. My experience with JobTrain is that no matter how tough the situation one is in can be, this place can always make it possible to overcome and move forward!
I will give JobTrain a Four star rating because five stars will mean that they have reach the top. Fact is JobTrain is constanty progressing. I aquire my GED at JobTrain. JobTrain Staff, students, and supporters are my family. I was in the building a few weeks back, they restructured the computer room and else where. Keep it 100 JobTrain.
Success leads to success. I have seen people move from individuals who have not known success in their lives to people who now have jobs and who are moving into careers. The environment at JobTrain is one that helps people become successful where that are at, and then teaches them how to build upon their success.
Still completing my first year working at JobTrain, and very happy to be here! Having worked in nonprofit management both nationally and globally, I have brought fresh eyes and critical thinking to my role as COO here. My own research of outcome measures showed JobTrain to be a top performer both regionally and at the national level. I wanted to see what makes an organization like this tick. Fifty years of focus and innovation have made JobTrain a leader and throughout it all the organization strives to treat everyone with dignity and respect. There is a “can do” spirit here that we all work very hard at making as infectious as possible. Success breeds success so our programs are designed to meet people where they are at, help them achieve initial successes, and then build on that success to help them change their lives. For many people, success has been elusive in their lives but once here in this world where success is designed to be contagious, they suddenly see that new beginnings are possible. All of this makes it a joy for me to come to work each day as we consistently strategize to seek innovative ways of breaking the cycle of poverty.
JobTrain is the best non-profit organization that helps those most in need to succeed. I came here two years ago from another country and even didn't expect to be at the status that I am now. JobTrain staff gives you not just hard skills but the soft skills as well which is very important. Here you have all the opportunities to be successful but a lot depends on you too. Success or failure is a choice that is up to you.
I attended the JobTrain 50th Anniversary Breakfast of Champions event, and was very impressed with both the organization and their students. JobTrain does an excellent job helping people gain the skills they need to get a good job. The stories of their students are inspiring!
JobTrain is an amazing organization that helps people transform their lives. I have been a supporter of this organization for many years, and am impressed with the level of service they provide to the community. Their job training programs gets results! Over 75 of graduates are placed in high quality jobs. This organization helps youth and adults break the cycle of poverty for the long-term.
Great organization with a friendly vibe.
There is a person who answers the main phone line-not a robot.
The staff treat you like a person- not a number.
They help people launch new careers- not just a job.
JobTrain changes lives every day. JobTrain not only provides vocational training, but it also provides life training. How to get a job and how to keep a job. I can't speak highly enough of the mission of JobTrain.
I am the parent of two JobTrain graduates. JobTrain does not only teach vocational skills, but also leadership, responsibility and what it means to be a reliable employee. Everyone is welcome at JobTrain. I have been involved in many non-profit and community organizations, and I can say that JobTrain not only talks the talk, but walks the walk for sure. JobTrain genuinely changes lives for the better every single day!
Great organization, a one stop shop – provides vocational training, unemployment assistance, child care, interview attire, and the staff there are incredibly helpful and generous with their time and advice.
In 2009, I was laid-off from my job – not knowing what to do, my mother suggested that I look into taking a class at JobTrain. In Fall of 2009, I graduated from the Medical Office Assistant program. In Spring of 2010 I began a new job and have been working for the same company for over four years. JobTrain provided me with the means to get back on my feet.
Excellent program, excellent education. Professional staff. A wonderful organization.
I am a workaholic but was permanently disabled in a. At accident in 1995. After back surgery I trained to work in computers but could not find work after massive layoffs In the industry. I then went to truck school but could not do the work with my disability. I then went to a business college with life time job placement which could not get me placed in a job. Jobtrain was the fourth school I'd attended but the only school that actually trained me into a field I was suited for. I graduated at their expense, not paying anything out of my pocket. I graduated without going into debt as I had already amassed $30,000.00 in student loan debt I could never pay because I could never get work with their training. I graduated with 2 State of California Nursing Licences and a CPR certificate. I graduated and started my own business as a Licensed Home Health Aide. Jobtrain changed my life, got me off of disability checks and back into a life I am proud of.
I had been at a company for 5 years my position was no longer available. I couldn't find a job and decided to update my skills here at JobTrain. With the skills gained at Jobrain I was able get a job here at JobTrain I am a home grown tomato as they say :) . Jobtrain is an organization that helps people make changes to improve themselves. I have been at this company for two years now and can honestly say it is a great place to work everyone is friendly and has the same goal of helping those most in need to succeed.

I went to visit their facilities and was amazed at the incredible operation they have. They have an amazing impact on many low income people in the area, helping with job training, computer training, finding and applying for jobs, and even tax help! definitely a worthwhile organization!
Jobtrain is a really great school. They don't Judge nobody, they don't try to figure out if someone deserves something or not. They lift the fallen, Restore the broken and help so many to reach their goals.
Thank You Jobtrain for everything.
your Current Student in the culinary art program.
I have been popping in & out of JobTrain to do job searching for a few months now. Then I over heard there would be a Medical Assisting class starting up. My eyes opened wide and my ears became very receptive. I immediately enrolled and made sure to get in the class. I am so grateful and privileged to have been accepted, started and continuing to attend the MA class. I have a knowledgeable, humorous, detailed, caring, and experienced instructor (Jacqueline LaForga). I am truly very appreciative of the opportunity given to me by JobTrain with education, financial counseling, self well being, and EDD. It is also good to know they they have other resources that might just be helpful whenever I might need them.
Once again - a GREAT BIG SHOUT out to my instructor Jacqueline LaForga - makes class always interesting and that I do not want to miss a day...!!!
Doing this for ME..!!!
Migrating from the Pacific Island with a dream. To get a career, I came to Job Train and the staff was so helpful with information of questions I had. Jobtrain is a great place and has all the help you need inside the building from edd to even therapy help.Courses are intens and short but the certificate they provide are good help.
Jobtrain has provided very good support to me as a medical assistant student. Everyone is very helpful professional and caring specially my instructor Jaqueline Laforga. She is patient , motivating, inspirational and very good at teaching the skills and everything we need to know in order to perform well in our field. I love coming in her class everyday!!!
JobTrain is a great organization, all of the staff are great! Always smiling and always willing to help with any questions you have. I completed my GED here and now I am a student of the Medical Assisting course. If you are interested in working in the medical field take their program taught by Jacqueline LaForga, she is a phenomenal instructor. The program so far is fast but very educating, I am enjoying it.
My experience with job train has started since i was in High School, I had the opportunity to take after school classes and received school credits. Recently i visited job train and found out about the Medical Assisting Program i got convinced about it and signed up. I am currently enrolled and i am more then happy with my teacher. She is a great motivation , she is working hard to make sure all her students pass. I highly recommend this class.
When I first heard about JobTrain I was very skeptical. I was told they would help me with not only teaching me but also to get a career, help you with taxes, government benefits etc etc. and all for free. I went in not knowing fully what i wanted to do and found out about the medical assistant program. This was the only class that had me interested and so i registered and signed up. I went with the counselor and i was given a good talk. I shouldn't be going without a purpose and without knowing what it is im getting myself into and so i was advised to do research. I did and found out that the more i researched the more i wanted to take this class and the more i wanted to be able to help people. it is now 1:30 pm October 30 2014 and I am Happy that I have taken this course at this time. The teacher is very knowledgeable and interesting and the students are very good as well. I am proud of this class, the teacher, the Program as a whole and most importantly of myself
Thank you Jobtrain
Jake over and out
I am grateful that such an organization as JobTrain is available for people that want to succeed and may have difficulty figuring out how. I was laid off a couple of months ago and I did not know what I was going to do next. I did not have the means to pay for school myself and having found JobTrain was a huge sigh of relief. I was excited to start the program right away since I had first applied. Everyone here is supportive and nice. You feel welcome as soon as you walk into the door. Not only do they offer programs to get ahead in education but also different resources that help you with daily issues aside from school, designed to make sure you are successful in completing your goals. They always encourage and support you along the way. Thank you JobTrain
I am really enjoying the Medical Assisting Class. Our teacher has had much experience in the field and brings added enrichment to the program which she designed. If you are looking for an organization that is doing good in the community and making a difference this is the place to donate. Our class is competitive and helping to get us in job positions upon graduation. Help make a difference, and join the Job Train family!
very great school and instructors especially Jacqueline she is amazing at what she does I enjoy coming to class everyday and learning something new everyday.
jobtrain is a great place to get an education to be able to go out and get a job
I am very grateful for the oppurtunities that have been presented to me at JobTrain.
I have been a Board Member and a passionate volunteer with JobTrain for the past 22+ years. Through these years, JobTrain has been and continues to be a strong beacon on the peninsula for those most in need to succeed in getting relevant job training to find and hold a quality JOB!! Part of our secret sauce is that all of our graduates go through a rigorous "Life Skills" training which adds tremendous value to the graduates personally as well as to their employers. When each of our graduates lands a job we ring a bell in the school and everyone comes and congratulates the graduate. The smile on their face and the tears in their eyes continually remind us why JobTrain is so valuable in our community. Come check us out!! We give great tours :-) (www.jobtrainworks.org)
I support JobTrain because I strongly believe in the mission which is to provide quality and relevant job training for those in need in our community. It is a great feeling to be able to help those that are unemployed and are in need of current job skills to be able to land a job and change their lives. The stories of our graduates of how JobTrain has changed their lives is a daily testament to the importance of the JobTrain mission. When a JobTrain graduate rings the bell to as they land a job, the entire community wins!!
I have been involved with and on the Board of JobTrain for about 10 years. Every year I am touched by the stories of our students who able to turn their situations around by obtaining and retaining a meaningful job. I encourage everyone to check out what we do, and please come in for a tour of our facility or attend one of our events. Everyone I have spoken to who have taken a tour or attended an event is always impressed by what we do and our successful track record.
I have been on the Board of JobTrain for about 7 years and I am always amazed and moved by the personal stories of the Graduates of the JobTrain programs. The Graduates consistently credit JobTrain and the amazing staff on providing the drive and motivation to both succeed in class and prepare for success post JobTrain.
