Mission: Jwi is the leading jewish organization championing the security of women and girls, promoting healthy relationships and economic independence through innovative programs, advocacy and philanthropic initiatives.
Programs: Women's programs: to provide communities with knowledge, skills, and strategic tools that empower those with access to at-risk families - including clergy, social workers, teachers, parents, lawyers, advocates, mental health professionals, law enforcement, religious congregations and others - to break the cycle of domestic violence. The national library initiative is creating 100 children's libraries in battered women's shelters across the u. S. , creating safe havens for kids whose lives have been upturned by violence.
youth programs: to give every jewish child and teenager the chance to talk openly about self-esteem and the dynamics of their social lives, so they can understand and build healthy relationships - and prevent dating abuse. Jwi also continues a 60-year philanthropic relationship with the jerusalem hills children's home, to support israel's most vulnerable boys and girls.
community and leadership development: to send cutting-edge leadership training, led by experts in the domestic violence field, directly to our chapters and their communities. On-site programming, tailored to each community's needs, inspires community-wide action; gives essential resources - and the skills to use them - to entire congregations; and connects local service providers, working directly with abuse victims, with jwi and with one another. Jwi empowers women, girls and families to lead safe, secure, independent lives - through economic literacy; community training; healthy relationship education; and the proliferation of women's leadership and jewish woman magazine inspired thousands of jewish women - of every denomination, across north america - to celebrate their strength and spirituality as unique individuals, and as a proud sisterhood.
