Mission: The mission of the Jewish Relief Agency is to assist families according to their individual needs. The Agency brings volunteers of all means, ages and backgrounds into a universe of give and take. Through its energetic leadership, the Jewish Relief Agency creates excitement around the fundamental values of charity and community service. By providing meaningful and fun events attractive to a broad base of volunteers, the Jewish Relief Agency satisfies our unique desire to take care of each other and do good in the world. At the same time, these events, such as our monthly food distributions, allow those among us who are less fortunate to benefit from the kindness of the community, easing their daily struggle for survival.
Programs: We provide monthly food packages to people in need throughout the Greater Philadelphia area. JRA's work is fueled by our volunteers who serve those in need in a variety of ways, including packing and delivering a boxes of food to members of our community. All of our volunteers, who come from many backgrounds, ages, and abilities, are united by a commitment to helping those in need and strengthening our shared community. Through community service, JRA nourishes body and soul.
JRA is an amazing place to volunteer as a family. You can see how you can make a difference, and you are surrounded by role models and a caring community. I highly recommend volunteering at JRA. You will want to go back again and again.
JRA is about feeding people, but it's also about bringing the community together and motivating activism. JRA provides almost as much value to its volunteers as it does its food recipients.
JRA is a perfect example of a charitable organization that gets down and gets to work on helping people. The monthly food distribution is a great way to get your family involved and to make an impact in your own community.
Volunteering at a JRA monthly food distribution is the most fun you and your family will have each month AND do something to truly help our community. The JRA warehouse is lively, hands-on and extremely well organized - it's BETTER THAN DISNEY! There are jobs that are appropriate for little kids (we brought our 3 year old) and even for senior citizens and people with disabilities. We volunteer about 8 times a year and we have felt like family right from our first visit. Volunteers pack boxes of food with non-perishable pantry items and fresh produce and then load their cars and deliver the boxes right to homes of people in need. It is so important for our kids to see how their efforts can make a real impact in the life of another person.
