Mission: Inspired by the Jewish values of compassionate action and communal responsibility, JFCS/East Bay is a nonprofit agency that has been delivering vital mental health and social services to Alameda and Contra Costa county individuals, families, children, older adults, Holocaust survivors, and refugees for over 130 years. Providing services to people of all affiliations, races, and backgrounds, JFCS/East Bay’s long tradition of caring directly impacts the lives of more than 12,000 East Bay residents each year.

Programs: The major programs of Jewish Family & Children's Services of the East Bay are: 1. Suse Moyal Center for Older Adult Services: care/case management, counseling, Holocaust survivor services, support groups and counseling for older adults and their caregiving families, and resources and information. 2. Parenting & Youth Services: consultations in preschools for children, teachers, and parents; behavioral and developmental assesments; counseling for parents and children; and age-appropriate groups and programs on specific issues, such as anger management. 3. Refugee & Immigrant Services: initial resettlement; health care advocacy and education; social and educational support groups for seniors and their family caregivers; child abuse prevention and family support; case management and counseling for families and individuals of all ages; holiday and cultural celebrations; healthy nutrition and exercise programs; assistance with immigration issues; and volunteer English and life-skills tutors. 4. Clinical Mental Health Services: counseling, support groups, and psychotherapy to help individuals and families through transitions and challenges at every stage of life, including grief and loss, relationship issues, eating disorders, stress and anger management, and school and work challenges. 5. Volunteer Services: matching and training for volunteer roles, including visiting the elderly, English language and life-skill tutoring for refugees and immigrants, and delivering kosher holiday meals to isolated older adults and people with disabilities. 6. Gateways, programs and services for Jews with disabilities: counseling, support groups, advocacy, information and referral, and special needs programming.
