Vacating premises after 80+ violations cited against Jersey Animal Coalition by the New Jersey State Health Dept and South Orange NJ Health Dept, including several animal cruelty citations. After years of mismanagement the animals have to be saved asap.
FINALLY CLOSED on 11/11. Village of South Orange takes over building. No animals left thanks to efforts of volunteers. 80+ violations issued in March by NJDOH and the President sues the Village of South Orange for picking on her!!! Dogs tied to fences, one strangles to death and is not found for over 1 hr. Shelter Manager was notified of this practice and did nothing. Two long term residents DIE in their cages during the period between March and Sept. while President is suing Village of SO??? Everyone will walk away w/o any charges being filed. Once again the animals lose, NJ laws need to be changed to better protect animals.
This outstanding and compassionate organization is one of the only true no-kill shelters in the New York metropolitan area. Since its founding 25 years ago, their founder and staff continue their commitment to finding animals a better life from which they came, to providing necessary medical treatment and care, to furthering humane education and sensitivity to all living creatures.
