When looking for a volunteer opportunity, I was honestly overwhelmed by the sheer variety of choices. And, having spent most of my time and effort on my career thus far, I wasn't sure what skills I could bring that would most help a charity/nonprofit.
I fortunately found Jericho Road Pasadena, and it has proved to be a great match for me. I'm able to help nonprofits with the skills I've attained in my career - digital marketing and project management. This has been very rewarding, to see how I can use my experience to help multiple nonprofits, who frequently can't afford and don't have access to these kinds of professional services.
The staff at JRP are great to work with - they carefully match your skills, interests and availability to the nonprofit project. They also carefully manage each project to make sure it's a good use of your and the nonprofit's time and energy. Since my work is mostly digital, I can do most of my volunteer time virtually, which is helpful.
Finally, my volunteer experience has been a nice addition to my resume and career network. It has broadened my experience in new ways, taught me to be more resourceful and introduced me to local professionals who do similar work.
My experience with Jericho Road Pasadena has definitely exceeded my expectations. I would gladly recommend JRP to anyone, but especially professionals looking for a way to leverage their expertise to help their community.
Jericho Road has been a great gift to our organization this year. We recently installed a new board member based on Jericho Road's recommendation and connection and also have been able to receive budget consulting from one of their volunteers. We are very grateful for the connections they have made on our behalf!
Jericho Road hosted a Board Retreat for us (facilitated by Mitch Dorger) that continues to help us expand and implement our vision for Pasadena Society of Artists as we enter our 93rd year! It was an excellent experience - informative, nurturing, focused - and completely tailored to our needs, our goals, our abilities and our resources. We are indebted to Jericho Road for this guidance and I recommend them wholeheartedly. ....Rhonda Raulston, Treasurer. PSA.
Jericho Road Pasadena is a great organization and a pleasure to work with on projects! Melanie Goodyear, Executive Director, put together a wonderful group of professionals to help build my organization, Pasadena Heritage, build a new website. I would highly recommend working with Jericho Road if you are looking for a group that is professional and thoughtful.
Jericho Road is an excellent resource for Pasadena! The Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena worked with Jericho Road on creating a promotional video for the Club. We ended up with an excellent video after a thoughtful and enlightening process. Our volunteers delivered an exceptional tool for the Club at no cost -- saving us thousands of dollars and giving us a great video.
"Jericho Road Pasadena has been an invaluable resource for Alive and Well Women over the past two years. With their help, we completed projects for financial management and strategic planning. Margret Kean, who guided our strategic planning project, was a perfect fit for our mission and needs. As a novice in the nonprofit world, responsible for establishing a solid foundation for Alive and Well Women, I couldn’t be more grateful to Melanie and her team for coming alongside of us at this critical time in our development."
Cissy Brady-Rogers, Founder & Executive Director, Alive and Well Women, South Pasadena, California
Jericho Road changed my life! My one career regret was not completing a CPA certificate in the earlier part of my career. A Jericho Road volunteer project allowed me to complete the work experience requirement and return to the workforce as a successful Accounting Consultant. It is often very difficult for a women to return to her career after taking time off to raise a family. But a Jericho Road project filled that career void which gave me confidence, great work experience returning me to a rewarding career.
Jericho Road Pasadena continues to be one of the best organizations I have had the good fortune to work with in the nonprofit realm. The exceptional leadership of Melanie Goodyear brings a warmth of understanding for the struggles of growing a nonprofit. She has a talent for creating scopes of work that make sense for building successful nonprofits, step-by-step. The professionals who volunteer their expert skills for Jericho Road Pasadena are leaders in their fields, with mindfulness to give back to the community. My confidence and acumen in growing my nonprofit has increased ten-fold due to Jericho Road Pasadena. Thank you to GREAT staff and volunteers!
Terrific organization that matches those organizations needing help with experienced professionals who volunteer. The projects are diverse and interesting and Jericho road staff do a good job of keeping the scope well managed.
Jericho Road Pasadena is an absolute gem of an organization and a pleasure to volunteer for! Melanie Goodyear, Executive Director, is the consummate pro; I love her unflappable style and her ability to communicate client needs clearly and to act as a strong liaison between client and volunteer --always there with the information I need to do my job. I've been particularly impressed by the diversity and quality of volunteer services this organization provides, as well as the commitment and passion for the community. Two happy thumbs up to this group!
When I first met with JRP earlier this year, I was impressed with the mission and their commitment to the Non-Profit community in and around Pasadena. Now having worked with them on a couple of different projects, I am blown away by their capabilities. I have since come across dozens of organizations that have benefited from JRP's services and without exception, each non-profit had tremendous things about their results. I am proud to be associates with this organization.
