Mission: Jeffco Action Center was founded in 1968, to provide basic human services to residents of Jefferson County on an immediate basis and in a non-judgmental environment. The private, non-profit agency continues to serve as the entry point for basic needs, stabilizing the family or individual through a continuum of emergency services to achieve self-sufficiency.
Programs: Food pantry - the food pantry supplies approximately five tons of food on a daily basis, which includes the distribution of 42,539 five-day food supplies. The majority of food distributed is from donations from individuals, businesses, churches and other organizations.

homeless shelter - jeffco action center operates a 21-bed homeless shelter for individuals, couples and families in jefferson county. It is the only shelter that serves all three populations in the county. This is a working shelter, meaning that at least one adult in the household must be working, looking for work or going to school. 154 individuals received a total of 6,473 nights of shelter, food and case management services during fiscal year 2015. Revenue sources for this program include grants and donations from businesses, individuals , churches and other organizations.
Jeffco Action Center is known to and supported by the faith community in the county. Volunteers are welcomed from both churches and any individual/group with a desire to serve neighbors who are struggling. Food is donated from various businesses and fills a pantry from which clients can shop - for free. Other non-monetary donations are sorted and sold (if valuable enough to bring money to fund services) or given back to the community (school supplies, food & clothing for those in need, etc.). Clients receive counseling on self-reliance and are given a personalized roadmap to various programs for housing and financial support along the way. The Action Center has been around for a long time and is well-known in the community as a source of help for those in Jefferson County that are suffering a setback in life.
