Jazz Generation is a crucial resource for musicians in NYC. In an environment where getting paid anywhere near what we deserve is a rarity, this organization plays a crucial role in helping to sustain not only live music but the livelihoods of musicians and their communities. Big thanks to these folks - they deserve 6 stars.
Jazz Generation, and its program Keyed Up, has become an integral part of the New York City jazz scene. It’s hard to imagine the lives and livelihoods of local NYC jazz musicians without the support that Jazz Generation has provided. It seems like now, more than ever, at least within the 25 years that I’ve been in town, there are more venues that are able to operate and more top-tier local musicians that can be seen and heard regularly. Jazz Generation has single-handedly made this possible!
I'm a musician, and Jazz Generation does fantastic work! They promote performances, sponsor concerts and supplement musician incomes. I'm so grateful that they exist and can't thank them enough for all of the great work that they do!
Jazz Generation is the reason my favorite gig still exists. They started to subsidize the pay for the band I'm in on a weekly performance in Queens, NY almost a decade ago. Since, we have been able to keep bringing new music to the people of that neighborhood. So many new and beautiful songs and relationships never would've happened without the help of Jazz Generation. 6 stars!
Jazz Generation does fantastic work to help the jazz community in New York, and bring the music to the people. They deserve to be able to continue and expand their fine work. They are important to the community.

Jazz Generation Inc is doing great work throughout New York City by unifying local businesses, and working musicians, to create new and exciting venues for live music. Many thanks to Jazz Generation for sponsoring a weekly gig in my locale. This gig showcases different artists every week and has really helped to enrich our musical community here in Burlington, VT. Without their supper this simply would not be possible. A major success. Thank you so much!!

Jazz Generation is a wonderful organization that helps keep this uniquely American art form alive. In an age where other state and federal agencies are failing to adequately invest in the arts, the existence of nonprofits such as this one are absolutely critical to survival.
For example, thanks to Jazz Generation we were able to launch a gig at a fantastic club in our town which features different guests each week including talented local players as well as world class, internationally renown artists coming through town. Without the help of Jazz Generation this simply would not have been possible. Thank you Jazz Generation!
Jazz Generation Inc has been a life saver for the arts in my community in the Hudson Valley. They've been steadily supporting my small music venue and helping us to properly compensate the artists I present. Jazz Generation deserves all the recognition in the world for what they do.

Jazz Generation has been supporting me for over 5 years and I couldn’t be more grateful for their efforts. I’ve been able to bring high quality musicians together to play Jazz regularly to an expanding audience. My performances include opportunities for musicians to sit in and, as a result, we’ve created a jazz community of musicians of all levels as well as a listeners. None of this could have been possible without Jazz Generation.
Keyed up has been one of the biggest contributors of the Jazz Scene in the Greater New York City Metropolitan area. Their support has helped the Jazz scene immensely. Truly an amazing nonprofit. They have been helping the Tuesday night scene for more than a year at actor Alan Cumming’s venue “Club Cumming”. Tuesday Night Jazz has been able to continue due to their contribution.
Jazz Generation has helped to support hundreds of musicians all across New York City. There would be a lot of incredible artists out of work if not for the help of this amazing organization, they help to support small businesses as well, who need the support of great live music to keep customers coming out. We are all extremely grateful for this outstanding organization!
This non-profit has been extremely supportive of my art since i’ve moved here! Keyed-Up! is a Godsend for folks looking to celebrate and share this music while also ensuring the artists are treated well and cared for. You’re the best!

Jazz Generation and Keyed Up has been a game changer. Their support of two of the venues where I perform regularly saw immediate improvements for the musicians and the audiences who regularly attend. In New York City, the real heart and soul of the jazz scene isn't at the big-name clubs. It's at the local venues that actually exist in neighborhoods where local musicians can afford to live. Jazz generation, through their Keyed Up program, makes it possible for the local jazz venues to offer gigs that are more equitable for musicians and more accessible to the music loving residents in the local.communities throughout the city and boroughs.
I’ve seen first hand the wonderful impact Jazz Generation has on musicians. This organization is enriching the lives of working musicians who in part are able to share their talents with the masses and make the world a better place.
Jazz Generation has been an essential partner in keeping the neighborhood music scene strong in Brooklyn.
I have enjoyed a relationship with Keyed Up for nearly 10 years, and I’m truly grateful for their help in subsidizing our music series at our neighborhood restaurant.
The restaurant had live jazz for a few years before I arrived to establish the current series with my band. Without Keyed Up, I would never have been able to bring in so many different musicians to collaborate with and share the gig with.
Jazz Generation inc is providing great resources for the jazz musicians around NYC metropolitan area. It is also an inspiration for other foundations as well. I personally appreciate the means and purposes of this foundation to keep the live music alive for more generations to come.

As a working musician in Burlington, Vermont, there is not a ton of money to be made playing gigs. Jazz Generation has been very generous to donate money to one of the groups I somewhat regularly play with up here in order to make those gigs pay closer to a livable wage. They mail checks directly to me in a prompt manner, and the one time I had an issue receiving my check I was able to get through to someone and resolve the issue in a matter of minutes. Thank you, Jazz Generation, for your kindness, professionalism and generosity!!!
I have seen the impact of Jazz Generation first hand in New York City and my hometown of Burlington, Vermont - this organization supports musical performances at local venues, allowing musicians to develop their craft and grow their audiences on a weekly basis. This in turn benefits local communities by the sharing of creativity and developing connections through a universal language - MUSIC!
Jazz Generation is very effectively supporting a large number of regular jazz performances and jazz education efforts! Thank you so much!
Jazz Generation and their Keyed Up program have made possible a fantastic weekly evening of jazz music in Burlington Vermont. In addition to providing a steady gig to local musicians, this support has enabled us to bring in a number of amazing guests from out of town such as Arturo O'Farill and Dave Stryker. This support is so important to our musical community, to the cultural enrichment of the greater Vermont community, and of course, to every other place where they are making a difference. Many thanks!
Jazz Generation has been so vital to the health of the NYC and NJ jazz scene. We are all so grateful for their continuing support!
Jazz Generation, in Burlington VT, has been matching the fee paid by our local club “The 126” in order to keep a high quality Thursday night residency by the Alex Stewart Quartet. We’re in our second year and it has been amazing! We’ve had sit-ins by high level artists such as Arturo O’Farrill and Dave Stryker, and we feature a rotation of the top talent from the Burlington area every week. Thank you, Jazz Generations!! Jeremy Hill, Bass Player
Keyed Up is such a great organization, helping bring high-quality jazz to venues that may not be able to financially support live music on their own. This is especially vital since the pandemic when so many venues and musicians are facing more challenges than ever! Every Monday evening they help support a jazz jam session at The Brightside Tavern in Jersey City that brings much joy to music lovers and musicians who otherwise would not have access to such an event in our area.
Thank you so very much to Jazz Generation Inc/Keyed Up for so generously supporting and lifting the jazz scene! With your support, artistic messages are delivered to listeners of all ages and the art form of jazz is able to flourish! As a musician who has benefitted
from this generosity, thank you for helping to make these opportunities possible!
Jazz Generation has been CRUCIAL in regards to supporting top notch jazz musicians and getting these incredible players into various types of venues so that everyone is supported. They've been at this a long time and have literally helped to elevate the jazz scene in so many ways. SO grateful to them!
Jazz Generation Inc. is an invaluable asset to the community at large. They have helped support Jazz performance and education at numerous venues throughout the NYC area.
Their continued support is a vital resource.
Jazz Generation has been a invaluable source of support to enable the weekly Tuesday jazz series at Lowlands to flourish in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Since the fall of 2022, their assistance in promoting our performances through their social media outreach has helped us to cultivate a dedicated following of local music-lovers at this humble neighborhood space, with over 40 performances to date (over 80 sets of music) and dozens of musicians served. Their support not only for Lowlands, but for numerous other venues (particularly in Brooklyn) has helped revitalize the jazz scene and provide numerous performing opportunities, both for veteran musicians as well as emerging artists.
An important organization that is doing extensive grassroots work to ensure that jazz stays alive and vibrant.
Jazz Generation has provided myself and numerous other Boston-based musicians with the support necessary to continue playing and teaching professionally. The financial support they have provided has allowed us to start a weekly Jazz performance (something that has become increasingly rare in the Boston area) that has continued for two years now and has benefited young and veteran musicians alike. Jazz Generation's mission to spread awareness of the value of live music is more important now than ever, and we are incredibly grateful for what they are doing!
The support of Jazz Generation has made possible an incredible array of collaborations that otherwise would not be happening. Thanks to this foundation we have built a thriving Thursday night jazz series in Burlington Vermont at The126 that provides an opportunity for the region’s leading professionals and young emerging artists to create music together. A recent highlight was pianist Arturo O’Farrill and his son Adam sitting on trumpet a trend we expect to continue with other stars who are passing through town. This concept and it implementation has been truly transformative!
Thanks to Jazz Generation & Keyedup I’ve been able to enjoy bringing the joy of jazz to the masses. Playing the Turnmill club in NYC regularly in the last several years is a highlight in my week. I’m fortunate to play music with musician of the highest caliber and allow many others - musicians, dancers and fans - to enjoy it also. I’m grateful for the foundation and the philosophy it represents!
Since the COVID pandemic hit I have been curating the streaming series to give the musicians a place to perform, getting to connect with the audience all over the world. Keyed Up has been a big help for my series, and without their help, I couldn't have kept it going. Cannot thank enough to all the people who work for this organization and also the people who donate/support this incredible team!
The support from Jazz Generation / keyedup has been wonderful for me as a member of the 11th Street Bar Monday night jazz band. Not just me but all the musicians involved. Other venues I have played in have received the benefits of Keyedup. This organization has been God send in helping musicians working in non mainstream venues. Also a monster shout out for Jazz Generation / Keyedup for the continuous support during the NYC 2020 2021 pandemic shutdown. With no gigs Keyedup stepped up big time. I have many thanks and great respect for this organization, thank you ... Richard Clements
Jazz Generation and Keyed Up have made a tremendous impact on my career and my ability to keep my band working.
They have been with me every step of the way almost the entire time I have lived in New York. By helping me continue my weekly gig I have a homebase to build an audience, meet new musicians, and continually practice new music.
Not to mention the positive impact the band has had on helping our host restaurant by providing them consistent music and advertising.
Jazz Generation Inc (& KeyedUp!) are essential to the preservation, education, expansion & influence of America's Great Art Form JAZZ! The family of musicians performing, teaching & running this organization are the most humble and generous people, a foundation of what it means to be a great nonprofit, as well as what it takes to become a master jazz musician. When you see an event is sponsored by this organization you know it will be world class and rewarding for listeners of all ages and experiences.
Jazz Generation has become an essential actor of the New York jazz scene, supporting hundreds of concerts and musicians.
This organization is a fantastic asset for the music life of the city!
Jazz Generation has been key in helping push NYC jazz forward by supporting emerging talents as well as showcasing Nyc jazz legends. When venues were closed during covid hours they kept supporting hundreds of jazz musicians. 5 stars ⭐️
Jazz Generation is essential to the survival of the Jazz scene in New York. It supports hundreds of musicians and venues. Thanks you all for your wonderful work
The awesome team at Jazz Generation is making it possible for people to access and participate in jazz and blues in a truly authentic way. They are creating and sustaining communities that would otherwise disappear due to high New York rents, and lack of funds. Thanks to Jazz Generation, I have been able to perform for audiences in multiple NYC boroughs, get paid a dignified wage, and connect with people through music. Not to mention, everyone on the team is a total pleasure to work with! Thank you, Jazz Gen!
