JAMinc has no paid staff. All work is volunteered by board members, and individuals who support our mission: "To open minds, hearts and ears to music deserving a wider audience through performance, education and support."
Founded in 2001, JAMinc has presented free live music (including Q&A) by professional musicians (including Grammy winners) to over 60,000 area, K-12 students in over 50 school locations (as of Jan 2015), public and private. JAMinc makes the arrangements (including contracts and lodging) and pays half the musician's fee. The school pays the other half. JAMinc also provides artist transportation for Richmond Folk Festival's school outreach.
Our sponsors include Hohner, WCVE Radio, TKL/Cedar Creek, Hilton and Hampton Inn. Annually we ask for donations from those on our email list. Directors are required to donate annually.
The artists presented in schools, come to town initially to perform in "house concerts" staged at In Your Ear, a local recording studio. In-school performances (as many as three) are booked around these concerts held monthly except in Dec. and the summer months.
