Jaaa advocates on aging issues, builds community partnerships and implements programs to help seniors live independent and dignified lives in douglas, jefferson, and shawnee counties in kansas.
Programs: Under older american act title iii fundsjaaa contracts with agencies to provide services such as personalcare, homemaking, congregate and home delivered meals, respite care, legal services, caregiver support, physical fitness, exercise and transportation. Jaaa also provides directly to seniors, information, outreach, case management, assessment, and caregiver support.
in november 2012, jaaa contracted with southwest kansas area agency on aging to be one of eleven area agencies on aging also serving as aging and disability resource centers. Adrc's are the first point of entry for kansans applying for medicaid in-home assistance provided through the kan-care system. As an adrc, jaaa staff provide information, referral and assistance, options counseling, functional assessments and pre-residential facility placement assessments.
